I don't understand why we are risking buying Copper with the bad knee injuries he has had? Surely asking for trouble, however good he may
The Shirebrook sniper has put an extra thick blindfold on just to make it challenging 🤔

Whereas keeping Osula you’ve still got that asset in 12 months, and that asset may well have gone up even more in value.
But you don't have any cash and the value of that asset may have gone down so you lose all ways round.

Trading players is part of the everyday business of a football club.

If we sell Osula it's pretty safe to assume that we need the cash more than we need the player.

Rumor has it that Coops, yea that is what he goes by, reads this forum and can not wait to start playing for us. Also, he says he'll play for the honor and not money. Wow, how refreshing. 100% , stone cold IT....
..K

A football club owner, a Silicon Valley billionaire and an EFL official walk into a bar…..
They order three pints and EFL official asks, who’s paying?
It won't be the Prince as he's skint, Billionaire won't pay as its beneath him/ her, EFL won't pay as there on the take so it must be some Dozy fucker sat int corner supping Guinness 😉

Because you don't know the extent of these possible knee injuries like I don't, we have to rely on the management who will understand, of course there may be a risk but sometimes you have to make decisions.

Its not the management team it's the medical team and ours are pretty wank as recent history will back up 3 players come to mind signed in the last 12 months 2 signed this summer with dodgy knees

When I say management team I'm talking about all of them, manager, assistant manager, coaches, medical team etc ,obviously.

Yes, I reckon he'll be involved but it will be wilder desicion I presume if the financial side is out the way and he'll listen to the medical team and others I presume and then he, Wilder would make his desicion based on information he's given

The buying party will have done their own audit on the value of the playing staff and compared that to the "book value" of what sufc are holding the player at.

As someone stated - Osula will probably be held at a nominal level.

The sum of the offer that is more than the "book value" would then be considered goodwill from an accounting part. It gets more complicated as of what happens next to the money - I.e
is it re-invested in other players or assets as the buying party can hold these at a lower value.

I've not done mergers and acquisitions for a long time, but I believe this I'd why you used to have embargos on transfers during a takeover .

I get the loan signings but we should probably buy some permanent players soon. Rushworth, Souttar and Gilchrist probably means only one more loan given we will probably save one for Jan so I'd really like to see a few permanents coming in next. Maybe younger players as back ups with time to improve

I see your logic but we'd probably be better off having loan no5 for the first half of the season.

Unless we are suddenly going to buy plenty more permanent players this month.

I think Cooper with 2 dodgy keens would keep out more than our 2 other keepers if they both played at the same time 😆

Was hoping the keeper issue would be resolved by a decent permanent signing as it’s so vital to the team and also a potential profit maker if young and British

I think Rushworth is better than Cooper anyway and has better knees.

Rushworth was my number 1 choice earlier in the summer.

That being said, I am not unhappy with either.

I’d much rather sign a player permanently for 3/4m - using the osula money.

Rather than having to pay 750k/1m loan fee + wages to loan a player every year for the next 4 because we refuse to make any signings. It will would work out cheaper and you can actually create an asset. Rather than developing an asset for someone else’s benefit.

It’s another Penny wise - Pound stupid move. Like signing a broken Tom Davies who hadn’t seen a football for months instead of getting Doyle in. We may as well have set 2 years of Davies’s wages on fire .

That said if it means we don’t have the worst keeper in the league in either Davies or Grbic - I’m still all for it

Maybe Cooper on a permanent would have been a better idea, but do we stick with loan keepers hoping that one will become available for a reasonable fee.

Or do we use loan keepers to give us a bit of time to develop someone like Faxon by getting him out on loan to hopefully get him ready for our first team, hoping that he steps up to the level we need him to be.

Who would you go for instead?

Doyle was never coming to us once Wolves and the player swap entered the equation.

I mentioned Rushworth a while back for two reasons

The first was that I thought it made economic sense as we have little money and the other was because someone at the club said we were trying to bring him in

We’ll probably go and sign some other GK now 😁

Rushworth has 2yrs left on his deal, a year here then puts him into his final year...... if he wants to play and be first choice, thats put is in a good position to offer him a long term deal, depending on price.
That being said, Cooper is almost surely available now and wants to come..... is the quoted £3m correct, can we give them Grbic in part ex, so it only costs us £4m!??
