This actually makes me wonder if one of the sticking points might be that the bidders are wanting to pay the balance sheet values of the young players whereas the Prince is looking at their true market values which, collectively, will be tens of millions higher. Maybe the sale of Osula is to prove that point.

Pure conjecture on my part, though.
After all this time if they are still negotiating the price this thread will be running until Christmas. Personally with absolutely no knowledge I think the Prince's desire to retain a share of the club s the issue

Any seller of any business try’s to maximise their return on exiting said business.

In this case it may very well mean ‘pocketing transfer funds’

Loada crap.

There is absolutely zero evidence in the audited accounts of him ever ‘pocketing transfer funds’

Any buyer with half a brain cell would have the accounts gone over with a fine tooth comb before parting with £100m and would be sure to check the money from recent large transactions was all accounted for.

Hes not just logging into the online banking and sending himself £10m because we’re selling Osula.

The club is loss making. The money has been spent on running the club. Transfer excess is getting swallowed into the black hole of expenses.

Where have you read that he’s going to pocket £10m? And how are you suggesting he would do that? He certainly doesn’t have a track record of it. Quite the opposite, in fact.

What will happen is either we have the player at whatever his amortised value currently is or we will have £15m which we can choose to spend as we wish. If one exceeds the other then the value of the club shifts accordingly. It becomes their business if they buy the club, but not until then. If they are dithering this might be something that forces their hand, one way or another.
Agree

Put up or fuck off

Why the fooook can’t we use the Bogle money to bring in Cooper, knowing that we’ll have the Osula money coming in at some point.
If the agreed fee for Cooper is £3m but we’re just waiting for some cash, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if some fucker swoops in an gazumps us. Get it done FFS - it’s like pulling teeth!!! Like others have said on here, when we sell someone it takes days to go through, when we buy it takes fooookin weeeeeeeeks 🙄

Imagine that was probably spent on Moore and Burrows

What if we give him a medical and his knees are shot??
Then it'll be the clubs fault he failed that?
I'm wondering who writes these lists of players we appear to be in for, as, even though we've changed our recruitment team, we're still totally shit at it??

Isn't this being overcomplicated? According to Darren Smith each player sale/purchase is being signed off by both parties. If this is true its business as usual and should not effect the agreed purchase price. As for book value the only way to get a true price for each player would be to sell everyone!

Probably. As I said, pure conjecture. But Darren Smith saying something doesn’t make it the case.

Moore was effectively swapped for Jebbo, and as El Accounto pointed out, Beni paid for Burrows.

He’s no idea really though has he as the vast majority of the stuff he’s said so far has either been vague, inaccurate or both.

We were also told (by Bettis) we needed one decent player sale this summer to cover the loss of revenue. Bogle could be that one.

We don’t know.

The decent sale figure bandied about was £20m although I’m not sure that Bettis actually gave that.

If I remember correctly that was an assumption.

They might be now thinking a bigger sale won’t happen. Doesn’t look like Anel or Souza are attracting the anticipated bids at the moment does it so perhaps Bogle will have to do.

Again unless you’re the prince or bettis were all just guessing aren’t we

Anyone realistically think he’s gonna pass one of many medicals…

Why are they calling the shots when they don’t own us yet?
They aren't calling the shots. Both parties surely have to agree to each financial transaction as they are mid takeover. Additionally some of the stuff published by third parties may be incorrect.

Maybe I’m being simplistic, but it doesn’t square with me that they apparently can’t sign players for us yet, but they can dictate who we can or can’t sell.

Apologies, I’m not disputing what you say, it just doesn’t make sense that’s all

Aren’t transfer fees usually paid in installments rather than cash payments?
Surely if you sell, you lose an asset worth supposedly 10m, but then you have the 10m.

What’s the big difference?

Surely only an issue if you buy above market value and sell below.

Yeah, but that money is no longer kicking a ball around and the intention is to spend on something that may or may not represent maintaining that value:
Buy Cooper for £3m- means he’s worth that or maybe a bit more and remains an asset for the length of contract, gradually going down in value as his contracts runs down.
Get 3 players in in loan for a year costing £5m for the year and at the end of the year you’ve got fuck all.

Therefore devaluing the original asset worth.

Whereas keeping Osula you’ve still got that asset in 12 months, and that asset may well have gone up even more in value.

In my way of thinking they agree a price for the club and its assets, the minute you start selling assets and spending in others it alters the original deal does it not.

well jebbos fee more or less paid for moore but the bogle/traore money should enable us to get cooper over the line maybe were having 2nd thoughts with his injury record

I don't understand why we are risking buying Cooper with the bad knee injuries he has had? Surely asking for trouble, however good he may be.
