Chaps,

Despite the Prince, his millions and all the rhetoric about new chapter in our history and getting back to the Prem, can't get excited. Seems unreal when we are stuck in the relegation zone of Division 3, can't create & score goals, expect to get beat each Saturday and hear how DW is disappointed.

Anybody else?

You are on your own their Putney, we are all singing and dancing and life just couldn't be better, sure we are going through a "blip" at the moment but it will soon come right, McCabe is God, Weir is the new Sir Alex and it's Europe in 5 years.......come on you meserable git, jump on the happy bus.

The thing that excites me about the prince is his fantasy footy background, I think he will see it as a challenge starting from the bottom and building a team up from the ground. We're about as shit as can be so it will be like him starting with Accrington Stanley and taking them to the champions league on champ man or Fifa.

Now hes is onboard he wont take this crap from Weir, hes given him some time and assessed him but this guy will want results and will sack him pretty soon and get someone else in. If we didnt have the prince then we really would be in it as we'd have no money to sack him, no chance of signing anyone and all our starlets will get poached. We would be forced to be patient with Weir and in the 4th division in no time.

Thought this thread was going to be about the OP's dog. Was going to suggest getting some Bob Martins...... What the hell, still get some anyway if it's that bad.

I'm with the OP here, it still all feels too good to be true, and this let down of a start doesn't help either.
Put me down as Cautiously optimistic....

PS.
The Bob Martins sounds like a good idea, after watching Saturdays game I was feeling a bit ruff ....... ;)

So guess who he might want to choose as Weir's replacement?

It's crossed my mind too. Ladyboys, thieves, interpol's most wanted. We've had them all. Or have we...............

Yep - I am just as septic as the rest of yer.

Same owd, same owd - never going to change for us no matter what magic wand he is waving about at the time.

I think the biggest worry is that it seems like some players do not feel comfortable or want to play his system and are badly lacking confidence at the moment, and even don't 'get on' with DW.This is why i think we would see an immediate improvement if DW was removed even with the same squad of players!

If and when DW is replaced, and I hope he's here for a long time, I'm delighted to announce that neither Ol' Big Nose nor Muckanettles will be given so much as a fleeting thought. Has Beens and No Hopers will not appeal to HRH and he's actually seen a world beyond S2.

Amazing, isn't it?

I think the problem is Brownie, that some of the players are incapable of playing any system to an acceptable level.
As for not getting on with Weir. Is the tail to wag the dog? Weir, I'm sure is thick skinned enough to put dislike firmly aside. Players have been known to get a manager sacked, EH Sunderland. If that were the only ground for changing, I would put the players firmly in their place but, it isn't IMO
I do like the idea that Weir is attempting to play carpet football, but in the current situation he should be able to adapt the style as a game progresses. He seems unable to do that..

A bit puzzled by Weir's reported comment that Jervis - training with us for the last few weeks - can't be offered a deal until someone leaves though. He surely wouldn't cost us more than £1500 a week if he's worth a contract so either the money is very limited or Weir is under close scrutiny.

maybe theyre is some kind of turnover based wage restriction on the lower leagues now that im sure ive heard people mention once or twice on here

What is a puzzle is that certain fans seem to think that a change to hoof is suddenly going to turn this lot of shit into the new Stoke. What evidence has been seen to suggest this squad can play at all, whatever the style, formation or tactics?

You suggesting that's the reason Judge? Are we back up to the limit again so soon?

Stoke were a very tall, big team. The only way Weir's assembled group of small players could play the Stoke style ,would have to be in the Land of Oz against the Munchkins

And how does the Prince increase turnover to therefore increase the wage bill?

Maybe he's been told that he's already signed 10 forwards/midfielders and he can only pick six of them.
Maybe it's been suggested to him that a quality full back or two is what's needed, not yet another bench-warmer?

I think most would agree that, to play the formation he wants to play, he needs to look to strengthen at fullback and find an injection of pace in the centre of defence. He has made some good signings in my opinion, but as the late great Eric Morecambe would say, not necessarily in the right order.

The evidence is that the defence was the 2nd best in the division last season and is exactly the same this season and, man for man, the midfield and attack seems better than last season.

It is therefore not unreasonable to think that a manager with any simulacram of an idea should, without too much difficulty, get this lot into a top half third division team at the very least.

True, but you could agrue that Wilson was even more defensively minded than Weir, giving us a tight game at the back with nothing up front. As you say Baxter, Cuvelier, King and Hall should be better than what was there last season but their introduction may have compromised things defensively whilst, on the face of it, making things no better if not worse going forward. Is it the manager, the players, the formation, the tactics, the fitness or some or all of the above? I think the latter, but people on here seem to think 2 up top and lump it solves everything. It wouldn't because we haven't got the players to play that way either.

I think we probably have the players to play a 4-4-2 formation with King and Porter/Baxter/Taylor up front?
