It's not all about winning stuff.
Having a decent record of being in the Premier League, qualifying for Europe occasionally and being a place that decent players want to play (even if it is a stepping stone) can be considered a success for most clubs

You might want to have another look at your comment about Burnley being the only club of a certain size that did ok and qualified for Europe

In my lifetime at least 30 clubs of similar size to United AND MUCH SMALLER, have either won something, qualified for Europe, or maintained a decent stay in the Premier league.

And all of them have had some fantastic players (proper fantastic players not Norwood, Fleck and Basham) playing for them for longer than half a dozen decent performances before they got sold for the first shit offer that came in.

Presume you're talking about United adding a new tier to the existing Laver Stand and keeping much of the existing space open, much like Liverpool did at Anfield? The plans as currently submitted (and you can guarantee that they'd be redone) add 5,400 to the capacity with the second tier and corporate space.

FWIW I fully agree on us being at capacity but only when we're either flying in the Championship or not being abysmal in the Premier League.

Surely the ‘terrible corner’ looks so bad cos it’s designed to attach to a newer more vertical Kop. That what I always thought but maybe not
 
The AI gen photo of bdtbl in the star looks radically different to the current ones circulating, the sty one is comical with a big open gap in corner, presumably for the millions who can't get in on matchdays😂.. Cant see any of them actually taking shape in ten years👀
 
Be careful what you wish for.

If you can't afford to build a new stadium don't do it. We had grand plans. Retractable roof and everything. Settled for an open roof in the end. We got the land and started the land decontamination. Sold HR and rented it back to help finance the build. Then we got relegated and couldn't afford the build costs.

That was nearly 25 years ago. We are only just recovering now and still don't own our ground. Mike Ashley now owns it after buying on the cheap. Our only chance is to get promotion and make him an offer he can't refuse. And even then would he sell as he doesn't need the money.

And as has already been pointed out to a few before already (not by me) supporters from other clubs are welcome as long as they are respectful. I like to see how our closest rivals are shaping up for the season and just have a chat in general. Once the season starts you won't see me again until we play but will keep an eye on how Hamer and O'Hare are doing.

Been married a lot of years now. It's good to be able to say something 😄

Cheers handy to see experience other clubs have had. It doesn't fit everybody's agenda, so won't be welcome in some quarters ;)
 
The "much needed" part makes me think it's not us. If it was for a training ground that would make more sense.

We're rivals. Like I said on previous times to you, I like to see how our rivals are shaping up. But I seem to be spending most of my time here replying to your views. So you must be spending most of your time on here telling me how I shouldn't be on here. I don't have a problem with this but for some unknown reason it seems to be winding you up.

The 'ignore' tab? Would help us both greatly.

It was something we ignored for years. But when Robins came back we sold a couple of players then invested the money into the training ground. We were desperate for players to come in so couldn't understand why the money was wasted on our training ground. But when you think about it the training ground is where they spend most of their time.

Yes tbf the training ground is something the club has been aware needs doing for a long time, I think wilder was talking about it about 5 years ago. Most fans see the need too. The paper says new stand though which whilst it has been on the would like list for even longer it's not much needed. Our ground is in good shape and a dec not size.

Price of a new stadium? Anything decent will be close to 100m. Without the cash you incur big interest charges and still owe a lot of money. Add 10,000 seats?

Because of season tickets the average price is normally well under £20 a ticket. But let's call it £20 a ticket. Extra 10,000 seats a season? Just add a 2 at the start of the number and add a zero. So 200k a game exyra if you manage to fill the ground every game and your average ticket price is as high as £20. This would bring you in an extra 4.6m a season. But interest payments would be minimum 5% unless at mate rates. So the Interest would cost even more than the extra income.

Your ground is old but nostalgic. I love it.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Replacing the Kop would be ideal and do it stand by stand as needed. But none of it could be done in the off season. Build elsewhere would be expensive and in a worse location. Certainly one of my favourite grounds to visit but at some point something needs to happen one day.

The kop seats over 10,000 people. Be stupid to knock it down and start again as capacity would be just under 22k for the year or two it'll be out of action.

South Stand (one with dugouts) can have an additional tier added first...
