On the other hand removing both is just the value of Osula!
But still a big hit to take.

Maybe your next promotion to the Prem, don't spend untold millions trying to stay up and put the money into ground improvements?

The players who took you up would get their chance and you benefit for the next 50 years or more. And there is a good chance you end up in the same position in the league.

I'm retired, a Sunday evening and also had enough of listening to my wife.

What's your excuse? 🤔
My excuse?
I've come on to a Sheffield United forum, to read Sheffield United related content.

Fair enough if you pop on to Hamer/O'Hare threads now and again, but you're spreading through this site like a contagious boring disease.

I'd even be prepared to sell Souza to remove the posts and mop the bogs on the kop.

The kop seats over 10,000 people. Be stupid to knock it down and start again as capacity would be just under 22k for the year or two it'll be out of action.

South Stand (one with dugouts) can have an additional tier added first...
It's all about money at the end of the day.

Which stand needs replacing the most? 1 year of hardship for your supporters for the long term benefit. Love tour ground but tou know it better than me. Expand the capacity of the stand and make future developments more economical?

We came back down because we did the opposite of this. We bought Benie Traore and got Tom Davies in on a 3 year contract. Hamer (good) and Souza (shit) were both funded by the Berge/Ndiaye sales and Cameron Archer was a joke of a transfer/loan deal that no one really saw how stupid it was until part way through the season when he wasn’t really trying and we knew he’d be going back to Villa come what may!

I wouldn’t trust our current board to sort the stadium, it’s taken 3 years to sort some cladding out on the hotel!

The hotel was shut do Covid, McCabe taking the fittings and the Grenfell fire cladding issue . It wasn’t #1 priority. It has now had total refurb top to bottom.. it opens in the next 3 weeks.
Kop re roofing at £5 million seems about right to me. AZ Alkamaar did their whole ground for 25 million euros.

Is this the Coventry that moved from Highfield Road rather than redevelop, played at Northampton then Birmingham and then moved back to a council owned plastic arena ???
This is like the blades playing at the old fon Valley stadium then moving in the sheffield arena .
The only thing Coventry have going for them is Mark Robins and good recruitment that sees them through by player sales.
My tips for this season .
Sheffield united
Hull City
Both will surprise the doubters

Did you ever go to HR?

It was surrounded by old terrace houses and roads. Loved the location but just not enough space for a bigger ground. Add to that we would have been without a ground for a couple of years.

And yes it's been a right shitfest ever since but now with a new owner the only way is up.

We're on another level to before now. We have spent nearly 40m in the last year that we received for Hamer and Gyokeres. Most of our players have been together for a year now so we won't have another bad start. Our 3 strikers got 50 goals last season and have goals right through the team.

We're not the finished article yet. Need a LB and CB. Otherwise we have cover for every position where they are good enough for a starting place. Our biggest problem could be keeping everyone happy.

Hull? They're struggling to bring players in. We even hijacked their attempt to sign Thomas-Asante after it was just about confirmed he was going to them. They're in a worse position than yourselves squad wise and their targets keep going elsewhere.

Beautiful Downtown Bramall Lane is surrounded by terrace housing. Most of us love it and wouldn't swap it for some soulless bowl out near Meadowhall.

But Bramall lane is much bigger than HR was. The ground was falling apart. There wasn't the space anywhere. I still miss HR. The short walk from the city centre. Midweek games walking towards the light from the floodlights. Pubs everywhere. Lots of places to park. Now a lack of pubs and car park a tenner. And on busy days you can be stuck for ages trying to get out.

To be fair, we have a fair amount of land behind the kop and the south stand to develop if we ever needed to, I went to Highfield Road and it was pretty much penned in by terraced housing. We could expand to avoid moving, not sure Cov could have expanded without moving

probably goes against popular opinion on here but i would build a new 12k seater kop before putting another tier on the south stand the plans for a new kop with concourse that came out a few years ago looked brilliant to me and that would give us a 34k capacity

2 tier kop, 10,000 on bottom 5,000 on top no need to do owt else.

When the owners talk about removing the posts, it’s utter bullshit. You can’t get rid of the posts without replacing the whole roof. The supports are there for a reason and the main truss isn’t designed to support the roof without them. So, what would be the point of replacing the roof without actually extending the stand at the same time…. And as we know that isn’t happening anytime soon.

35k

yeah not a big fan of 2 tier kops but that would probably be the plan but the concourse is badly needed imo facilities behind the kop are still stuck in the 70s
Facilities are victorion mate, in other words a disgrace. Prehistoric having to walk to corners of ground for a piss and a pint. Mind you it's not that long since we had a lid put on bogs. Don't agree with extending kop job needs doing properly, never happen in my lifetime though.

Where was You last year untold millions where we sold berge and illy and before that brought in utter crap development players

We spent some money but we truth we needed a lot more quality

This has been addressed twice by the club. Once in an online fan forum during lockdown. There we were told it had been priced and would've happened if not for Covid. Bettis addresses ir here about 35 minutes in:

what i heard a few years ago was that if we had managed to stay in the premier league for a 3rd season the pillars would have been removed that summer and a new cantilever roof would have been installed and had been costed but of course covid and relegation put paid to that plan

Be careful what you wish for.

If you can't afford to build a new stadium don't do it. We had grand plans. Retractable roof and everything. Settled for an open roof in the end. We got the land and started the land decontamination. Sold HR and rented it back to help finance the build. Then we got relegated and couldn't afford the build costs.

That was nearly 25 years ago. We are only just recovering now and still don't own our ground. Mike Ashley now owns it after buying on the cheap. Our only chance is to get promotion and make him an offer he can't refuse. And even then would he sell as he doesn't need the money.
Why you left Highfield Road was un justifiable, you had good crowds for there but nothing close to what was required for new ground, plus complete mismanagement to sell your ticket and food rights away plus paying rent, has there ever been a worse deal in football

Yes, the unobtainable dream.
