Once a Blade, always a daft ****
You may well be right, but they are sniffing
Just to rephrase the above as it is inaccurate. I don’t know whether they are sniffing presently. But they have been sniffing

If they were going to sign him they should have before he agreed a new deal.Just to rephrase the above as it is inaccurate. I don’t know whether they are sniffing presently. But they have been sniffing

That’s why he wasn’t able to play as we needed him to sign a new contract. If they were going to sign him they should have before he agreed a new deal.
They would have got him for free, presumably his agent will have been smart and stuck a release clause in there.
Wilder making him captain makes me think he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
What does “sniffing” mean?
Prior to him signing his new contract by any chance?I believe they made an enquiry through his agent. That was a while back though
What a load of rubbish is spouted on here! I might be an old fart ! Just wouldn't talk a load of shit !! which is put on here.Prior to him signing his new contract by any chance?
I’d agree. Just assuming the info you were told were true, and shared with honest intent, it would alter its relevance significantly. It was certainly a while back but not sure on timeline between hearing it and OA signing? But may change things Bob
Surely for an infrastructure like Villa their scouting network would have seen this in youth team games/ port vale games prior to him signing a new deal with us though. That’s why he wasn’t able to play as we needed him to sign a new contract.
Most clubs loan out their players and make them sign a new deal before the go on loan. We didn’t with OB so had to tie him down to a new deal before he could play.
Not sure why this wasn’t done previously but at least it got sorted otherwise OB would be walking to Villa for free.

Since the Prince has been here, can you think of any players we have undersold? They'll all think they can lift our leg now.
Daily mail seem to think sides are sniffing around him for 12 million (scroll down)

Newcastle United are in talks with Sheffield United over William Osula
Newcastle see potential in the Denmark U21 international and have proposed £10million with a further £5m in add ons. Negotiations are continuing with Osula keen to make the switch.www.dailymail.co.uk
I can think of two last summer and a few who walked out the door for nothing this oneSince the Prince has been here, can you think of any players we have undersold?
If you can tell me one, I'll accept your point about having our legs lifted.
They were both in the last year of their contracts, and were running them down (it's the modern way). I think we got the market price + on those two.I can think of two last summer

Like with my edit added on the contract situation is part of the leg lifting here. We aren't getting much less for Osula than we got for Berge because we had him on a longer contractThey were both in the last year of their contracts, and were running them down (it's the modern way). I think we got the market price + on those two.
Well only because psg were willing to take the hit/gamble they had a deal lined up for 130 million but decided to keep him and that was a mistake!Walking out of the door, is the modern way.
Didn't Mbappe do that??
But even clubs with the spending power of PSG are getting players running down their contracts.Well only because psg were willing to take the hit/gamble they had a deal lined up for 130 million but decided to keep him and that was a mistake!
There’s sarcasm then there’s daggers to the heart. You’re a very naughty boy!TBF when a big club comes calling there’s nothing you can do, we could use that £12m to rebuild the squad and you get better value at the end of the window.

Weren't these all before the Prince was solely running the club though?Dominic Calvert Lewin, Harry Maguire, Aaron Ramsdale (1st time), Will Lankshear, Che Adams.
Weren't these all before the Prince was solely running the club though?
I take the point on Lankshear but didn't we get £2m for a player who hadn't played 1st team football?
My original point was that the Prince is like John Lewis "Never knowingly undersold" and I think he's a very good salesman. Not like McCabe who used to give players away.
