Brewster Couldn’t hit Barn Door

His shooting is fantastic.

If his aim is for anywhere but inbetween the sticks.

My brother is a Wednesday season ticket holder (we're now both in our 50's so talk honestly about each others teams) and he often tells me that when ever he sees Brewster play on TV he looks a quality player. He actually says....he expects him to come good sooner or later and predicts as long as he avoids injury he'll have a successful season this year.

I kind of agree.....when ever I watch him he does have a look of quality about him. His touch, control, link play and awareness is pretty good.
My main reservation (and it's the same with Osula too). Brewster will have a decent game, not score but be quite unlucky.
He'll almost score a difficult chance, hit the woodwork or the goalie will pull off a great save against him.
Keep thinking he just needs some luck.....but it's the same the next match....and you know what they say.
Really good players always seem to be lucky where as players not so good tend to be unlucky.

So for me the jury is still out and he's still on course to be (based on price) the worse signing in our history.
Last year I predicted he'll do a Ched Evans.....no not end up in prison ha ha....I mean in the final 6 months of his contract (from Dec24 to May25) he'll suddenly look a world beater ripping it up in the Championship and there'll be a clamour from Blades to renew his contract and pay him what ever he wants. This would be so typical Sheff Utd. We've paid out a record transfer fee and seen nothing, everyone thinks "get rid", then just as his contract is about to finish he then starts playing like MBappe.

He's been a terrible signing to date but he does have some excuses because of injuries he's hardly had a run of games
and I give him credit for his positive/ support the team attitude, seems a decent likeable guy too.
Your brothers a piggy well it’s in his interests that we keep Brewster ..He’s having you on mate

Lads played very little competitive football for the last 2 years. Movement was good, positioning was also positive. That’s the majority of the game, his finishing will improve. Simple.

No. Not Simple. It probably won’t. He is still lacking in understanding and anticipation. He can move all he wants and position himself positively (whatever that means) but all I have seen from the moment of his signing is a kid who had half a season of success in a moderate Championship side and nothing else to recommend him bar coming from bloody Liverpool (see Ben Woodburn et al) and England U 20 selection which guarantees sweet fuck all. Mmmmm Jebbison anyone?

Everyone who has any knowledge of football has commented on his lack of positional awareness, where to run, where to be to receive the ball or to take defenders away from others. We bought promise on the back of fuck all evidence of long term competence. He may now be fit, but it doesn’t mean (a) he will remain so or (b) He can play as well as he did 5 years ago and crucially (c) that the finishing wasn’t a flook in the first place.

With the current forward choices we have at the moment i would say he will probably get as much time as he can handle

You’re not wrong, although the young lads have looked much sharper than him so far in pre-season. If the squad remains as-is for the first game of the season, Brewster may well start. But if he doesn’t get goals / put in good performances, I think the young lads take his place very quickly.

The just two seasons have cast doubt over his fitness. The previous year (and bits in between) cast doubt over his general ability. All signs are bad.

Hes a fucking wanker.

Someone's honest opinion.😉
As long as it's an honest opinion that's ok ;)

For what it's worth I think the whole Brewster situation has been very disappointing and although he will have been receiving a boatload of money as consolation, I can't imagine he isn't more disappointed and fed up than we are that he can't do the one thing he has loved since he first kicked a ball.

There's a player in him. Personally think he'll bag 15-20 this season if he stays fit and gets some proper game time.

I agree, but look at threads on him for the past 4 seasons - could copy and paste this comment from them. Love to be wrong but it’s not happening for the poor lad
One thing he is not is £poor

He was a bad buy for all sorts of reasons (extortionate fee & wages , previous injury , flash in the pan at Swansea , JoC needed replacing).
He's delivered fuck all.
Mention of his name makes me sigh.
I think we'll all feel much better when he's gone.
Some things are just not meant to be.

League one player at best
Hi Stegosaurus here

Agreed

Flogging him to Wilder for 20 million is the best bit of business Klopp has ever done. And he even had the audacity to tell Wilder that he would buy Brewster back for more.

He must have been absolutely pissing himselves when he hung up the phone. Kloppy will coasting on that at parties for years.

"And then guys, I said to him, I'll pay you 28 million for him later! And Chris believed me!"

One thing that always amazes me re Brewster, which was in show at Chesterfield (I did not see Harrogate): He can only shoot in a straight line. He seems incapable of bending the ball around a goalkeeper, or aiming slightly to the side of a keeper. He just hits it as hard as he can in a straight line, which is one of the reasons why his finishing is so appalling.

I am amazed that a professional footballer is limited like this. Mind you, he’s not alone. McBurnie couldn’t often strike the ball cleanly, which I always found odd.

I don't think Brewster was great against chezzy but I did see improvement against Harrogate, he moved well to get Hampson free, he was unlucky with his two chances (one of which was blocked) both chances were through good movement.
His freekick had plenty of dip and curve and he can also play off the left.

Honest opinion - IF he stays fit we have much much better than a league one player.

It's worth remembering that the rich clubs in this country have made many hundreds of signings that cost more than Rhian.

So many of those were flops and were bad signings one way or another.

This seems particularly bad for us because it was our records buy, lots of us were excited etc.

Chelsea and Man Utd basically flush Brewster fees down the bog at least twice every transfer window. If we were rich we wouldn't care.

This is another message in my "stick up for Brewster and co" campaign. Sponsored by Pathological Optimists Ltd.

Last chance saloon for him this season. He MIGHT come good, unlikely imho, and start scoring. If he doesn't, then get rid, even if that means paying him off. He's still young enough that he could come good, but so far he's been an utter waste of our record transfer fee.

his all round play was good last night, nice touches, nice movement, took up good positions. Slashed at one first half, hit a lovely free kick marginally over, hit post ( a bit unlucky imo) and missed a great opening. He played for an hour, most hes played in a long time.

Whilst he might be the worst pound for pound signing we've made, the lad keeps coming back for more. There's a player in him. Personally think he'll bag 15-20 this season if he stays fit and gets some proper game time
If he gets over 15 goals this season I'll donate another £100 to Weston Park.

He'll play a few games, maybe score a goal or two, then get injured. He'll come back February ish, make a few anonymous sub appearances and then get released at the end of his contract. Thus completing the tragedy.

Tony Agana had the same issue striking a ball. Watch that season video from 87/88 (I think) when he and Deano both got 30 goals, so many of his were bobbled pea rollers or shinned. Still one of my favourite ever to pull on the shirt though!

I think some people are that desperate for him to be good now that any kind of move or shot where he looks half decent will be proof “there’s a player in there”. The 26 touches over 90 mins against Wolves last season being a case in point.

If he was a youth player he’d have been bombed out 2 years ago, the only reason he’s still here is because we’ve invested money in him and the club is desperate for any kind of return.

88/89 season

Brewster can be Wilder's Repair Shop/Scrapheap Challenge project for the season as opposed to the likes of Oli Burke, Ravel Morrison or Jack Rodwell in years gone by.

Now or never for him if he doesn't want to feature in one of those FourFourTwo transfer flop articles, if he hasn't already.

I’m sure there’s a player in there especially at Championship level but I’m just waiting for him to break down again if he does come good what a journey

Brewster in total managed just 320 minutes on the pitch adjding his sub appearances together so we only saw the equivalent of 3 and a half games of him
........hardly much to go on is it

Your talking absoloute waffle

Brewster strikes a ball clean probably the cleanest in the squad , compare it to mcburnie who shot like he was wearing suba diving flippers

He was fantastic against wolves its just a shame his hamstrings are made of glass
