Your brothers a piggy well it’s in his interests that we keep Brewster ..He’s having you on mateMy brother is a Wednesday season ticket holder (we're now both in our 50's so talk honestly about each others teams) and he often tells me that when ever he sees Brewster play on TV he looks a quality player. He actually says....he expects him to come good sooner or later and predicts as long as he avoids injury he'll have a successful season this year.
I kind of agree.....when ever I watch him he does have a look of quality about him. His touch, control, link play and awareness is pretty good.
My main reservation (and it's the same with Osula too). Brewster will have a decent game, not score but be quite unlucky.
He'll almost score a difficult chance, hit the woodwork or the goalie will pull off a great save against him.
Keep thinking he just needs some luck.....but it's the same the next match....and you know what they say.
Really good players always seem to be lucky where as players not so good tend to be unlucky.
So for me the jury is still out and he's still on course to be (based on price) the worse signing in our history.
Last year I predicted he'll do a Ched Evans.....no not end up in prison ha ha....I mean in the final 6 months of his contract (from Dec24 to May25) he'll suddenly look a world beater ripping it up in the Championship and there'll be a clamour from Blades to renew his contract and pay him what ever he wants. This would be so typical Sheff Utd. We've paid out a record transfer fee and seen nothing, everyone thinks "get rid", then just as his contract is about to finish he then starts playing like MBappe.
He's been a terrible signing to date but he does have some excuses because of injuries he's hardly had a run of games
and I give him credit for his positive/ support the team attitude, seems a decent likeable guy too.
Lads played very little competitive football for the last 2 years. Movement was good, positioning was also positive. That’s the majority of the game, his finishing will improve. Simple.
Yeah.He could shapeshift into a goalpost for a tap inA change of shape may suit him as he's not going to be central whilst Moore is fit
With the current forward choices we have at the moment i would say he will probably get as much time as he can handle
The just two seasons have cast doubt over his fitness. The previous year (and bits in between) cast doubt over his general ability. All signs are bad.Lads played very little competitive football for the last 2 years. Movement was good, positioning was also positive. That’s the majority of the game, his finishing will improve. Terry Curran has that title nailed. He cost 7 times more than the GK. Though the GK is (unbelievably it really is possible) of an even lower standard, I think Brewster is miles ahead in the "worst ever" stakes.
As long as it's an honest opinion that's ok
One thing he is not is £poorThere's a player in him. Personally think he'll bag 15-20 this season if he stays fit and gets some proper game time.
I agree, but look at threads on him for the past 4 seasons - could copy and paste this comment from them. Love to be wrong but it’s not happening for the poor lad
It is his last chance because his contract runs out bye byeHonest opinion is fine, but some of the posts are unpleasant and unhelpful.
Having said that I do think that this season is his last chance to show what he can do.
Hi Stegosaurus hereLeague one player at best
More importantly to him is it could be the last chance to continue his career. I hope for both him and the club that he has a successful season. It is his last chance because his contract runs out bye bye
If he gets over 15 goals this season I'll donate another £100 to Weston Park.his all round play was good last night, nice touches, nice movement, took up good positions. Slashed at one first half, hit a lovely free kick marginally over, hit post ( a bit unlucky imo) and missed a great opening. He played for an hour, most hes played in a long time.
Whilst he might be the worst pound for pound signing we've made, the lad keeps coming back for more. There's a player in him. Personally think he'll bag 15-20 this season if he stays fit and gets some proper game time
He'll play a few games, maybe score a goal or two, then get injured. He'll come back February ish, make a few anonymous sub appearances and then get released at the end of his contract. Thus completing the tragedy.Last chance saloon for him this season. He MIGHT come good, unlikely imho, and start scoring. If he doesn't, then get rid, even if that means paying him off. He's still young enough that he could come good, but so far he's been an utter waste of our record transfer fee.
Tony Agana had the same issue striking a ball. Watch that season video from 87/88 (I think) when he and Deano both got 30 goals, so many of his were bobbled pea rollers or shinned. Still one of my favourite ever to pull on the shirt though! One thing that always amazes me re Brewster, which was in show at Chesterfield (I did not see Harrogate): He can only shoot in a straight line. He seems incapable of bending the ball around a goalkeeper, or aiming slightly to the side of a keeper. He just hits it as hard as he can in a straight line, which is one of the reasons why his finishing is so appalling.
I am amazed that a professional footballer is limited like this. Mind you, he’s not alone. McBurnie couldn’t often strike the ball cleanly, which I always found odd.

I think some people are that desperate for him to be good now that any kind of move or shot where he looks half decent will be proof “there’s a player in there”. The 26 touches over 90 mins against Wolves last season being a case in point.
If he was a youth player he’d have been bombed out 2 years ago, the only reason he’s still here is because we’ve invested money in him and the club is desperate for any kind of return.
