Reading this thread i feel like I’ve been watching a different player. I’m definitely no expert, to caveat. Great physical attributes, but not the touch/composure/brain of a top player. I’d like to be proven wrong, but if it’s actually 10m (not 1m upfront and 9m if he wins champs league) then I’d shaking his hand and saying goodbye. When BBD has just gone for 7m it’s shame this couldn’t have gone through earlier and us hijack that!

As above hope I’m wrong and he bags 20 this season, but I just don’t see it.
Hi Stegosaurus here,

Finally, someone with a brain almost as big as mine. Osula is L1 level. if we can get 10 million for him then we've had Newcastles kegs down.

10 million would enable us to get a good few new names in that we need more than Osula. And that's Fallowfield Fact.

I'm absolutely buzzing off the people on here claiming that he's a dog driving a lorry, shit because he didn't score for Derby, hasn't scored in the PL, Brewster reincarnated....

Slow down, breathe, stop being hard of thinking!

Newcastle United, the richest club on the planet, with a bottomless pit of money, could buy any player they want to, have a scouting/analytics department created by the leading Director of Football in the English game - THINK OSULA IS WORTH BUYING.

Nah, he's shit....

Our fans.....

We're pretty much the only club that thinks that you buy a 20 year old striker because he is the finished article (cf. Traore, Benie). Imagine thinking Newcastle are interested because they think he's Alan Shearer 2.0 right now

I just hope we're not in the same position as we were with Ndiaye, where we kept him for a season as a calculated risk that he would help us achieve promotion at the sacrifice of recieving a fee that would balance the books. I just don't think we would take the same risk this time, and we'd be forced to sell for whatever we deemed as necessary to provide income
The good thing for the club this time round is the contract length next summer we’d still have Osula under a good length of contract control.

It could be a DCL moment, it could be a Ramsdale moment if we spend the money wisely.

Again you can understand why the club did it but both of those sales ended up being errors.

Hindsight is 20:20 but the cold hard facts are - We sold 2 England internationals for about a million each.

We paid c20m to buy one of them (an asset we already owned) back.

The other was being touted for £40m+ moves to the UCL.

I know the funds were used but we objectively we would have been better off keeping the players.

Yep. People saying "can we afford to take a £10m gamble by not selling" are being ridiculous, precisely because of the contract situation. Even if he has a poor season, his value is not going to depreciate to zero. If he bags 15-20, he's going to be worth a fucking lot more than £10m. It is an absolute no brainer to retain him

Not that the first team coach should be "actioning" any sales, if the club was to bring in three players on four year deals that improve the first team for just £15 million, that would be the coup of the century. An average amount of wages/bonuses for a top half Championship club would eat through pretty much the entirety of £15m over the course of their contracts, good luck in acquiring the registrations with what's left of that budget.
Are you El-accounto in disguise?

wonder if dummett and ritchie could be part of any deal for osula ?
I would hope not including two old players who would also be high earners in a deal to bring down the fee received for a young prospect on an affordable contract would make terrible business sense.

If it selling Osula improves the first team (via making wider funds available) then I can see Wilder being content to sell, however, we did sell David Brooks for 11.5 million after season in the championship when he was in and out the side back in 2018.

If Osula does manage to have a "break out season", then we could certainly be looking to getting around the 20 million mark. Big if mind, hence if we get an offer similar to the offer we received for Brooks I can' see us rejecting it.

no i would hope not as well but irrevelant as anothet poster has said their no longer newcastle players didnt know that

Could this be our Calvin Lewin moment. Personally I'd like to see Osula given a chance however if the sale enables us to be stronger it's 6 and 2 3s

We sold DCL to Everton 8 years ago, in the time he managed an average of 27 appearances with 7 goals - thats not Kyle Walker level of success upon leaving us is it?

Also, Osula could also be the next Jordan Slew

For me Osula doenst look natural, bit like Peter Crouch and he did well, but jurys out

If we sell and that funds Worrall, Cooper and one other, then its a no brainer, speculate to accumulate

There's obviously a big "IF" hanging over this for now, but there are multiple moving parts to a deal for Osula that should be taken into consideration.

There is a very compelling argument to be made for keeping him, as many have already done in this thread. Looks right on the brink of a breakthrough, we need him as a Moore backup, if he scores a few goals his value will shoot up etc. All valid.

However, to look at it from a different point of view: If we receive an offer for Osula, and nobody actually bids for Anel/Vini, what do we do?

It's imperative that we bring in reinforcements for other positions on the pitch. Especially GK, RB, CB. We might well have to give up on getting a bigger fee in the future, and settle for what we (might be) offered now, so that we can have a more rounded and complete squad for the challenges of a full Championship season.

If possible after bolstering where we are weakest, perhaps we could loan a striker in as backup to Moore? I personally feel like we would be okay that way, as the midfield look like providing a significant goal threat in this new tactic we're using in pre-season anyway, so not having Osula wouldn't be a complete disaster.

Rumoured about Newcastle interest. If Osula is sold then it would be a shocking decision. As i’ve said before believed to be the best finisher at the club despite what has been said on here abouy him looking rubbish.
Not seen much from him. If we can get good money to help fund our rebuild then it’s probably worth it

Hi Stegosaurus here,

I am sure we can sign a player for less than 10 million who is better than L1 Level Osula.

Adam Armstrong, for example -- great in Championship, proven to be not PL level. I bet we could scratch out a deal with Southampton.
I doubt Southampton would sell Armstrong for less than £10 million.

Hi Stegosaurus here

Why? He's not PL level, and for that 10 million they could get someone better--Brereton Diaz for example looks like he is going for 8 million.
