This would be the biggest act of self harm since, i dont know, maybe selling our best player on the eve of last season!!

Why the fuck do we shoot ourselves in the foot time and time again.

Young, Fast, athletic, 6ft forwards with 10+ PL games under their belt don't grow on trees. We've proved that with the £20m we've spunked on Brewster, McPub and Archer....

People seem to forget the impact Mousset had and how athletic the game is now. Losing him and Jebbison this off season?!?!!? This club....

£10 million for a striker who’s never scored a league goal for us….. and only scored 2 for Derby …. So that is 2 goals in circa 70 league games!! Nearly as prolific as Brewster.

Seriously, if that offer is on the table I’d cash in & use the money for other important signings we urgently need. Osula may come good in 2 or 3 years time but unfortunately we need more experience this season.
Thank the lord above you're not running our club.

This is possibly the worse take I've read in ages.

What if it was £10m plus 20% sell on fee and also a season long loan back option?

Completely agree. Whether they do or don’t make it, Jebbo & Osula are two young raw athletes with all the tools to be a modern day Prem striker.

To lose both for around £12m without either having a decent run in the team would be a bit gutting - these are the kind of players you dream of your academy producing. If he scores a few this season & plays well his value rockets.

With Souza & Anel likely to be sold (and the possible takeover) I don’t think we need the money that badly. How far does £8-10m stretch when we’d need to replace Osula anyway?

What about if nobody comes in for Anel or Souza and the only way we could sign any more players is if we sold Osula which allowed us to get 3 permanent signings? (Stretching £10m a bit I know know buy hyperthetically.) Would that change anyones mind? WE NEED A NEW KEEPER!

Understand where we are financially - I.e. without a pot to piss in.

But at some point in the next few weeks we do actually HAVE to field 11 players. We can’t keep selling players when it only creates even more holes in a massively depleted side. 13/14 missing from last season vs 5 signed.

It would be another sale which would just create a gap to be plugged - or loaned each season.

We’d have 1 senior striker in Moore if it went ahead. (Brewster clearly doesn’t count and can’t be relied on)

When you add to that to:

Zero fit right backs (and the current one only being a utility option.)

No first choice GK

No Centre back depth and one of the only CBs with a right foot is expected to be sold.

zero winger / AM depth - so we can barely even play our new formation

There’s far far too much still to be done. Especially when it’s about 7/8 days to tie up a signing

We've proved consistently that £20m doesn't even replace this kind of player, so not sure who the hell we'd buy with the £10m that makes the difference to our season...

Selling players to raise money is one thing, panic selling is a mugs/McCabe trick ...

Every time I see Osula he reminds me of Brewster.

Looks the part, seems to have some talent, some nice touches and link play but
every time he's in front of goal he always misses or the goalie makes a great save.

He's played 28 times for us and not scored a single goal.
He's played 16 times in league 1 for a side doing plenty of attacking but only scored 2 goals.

Has anyone thought he might actually be at best, average league 1 standard?

Think he has to start scoring in the Championship as quickly as possible otherwise the pressure will build.
He can't keep playing for us and not scoring.

Note: I'm an optimist and still think Osula will be an asset in the Championship but I think the same with Brewster too.
My point is sometimes players looks good but actually aren't where as some players like McBurnie look a bit crap but are quite good.

Would rather keep him got some real potential obviously want to be here has not long to long ago when he signed a new contract. Hope the new potential owners want to keep him get the take over sorted

Newcastle and a team of scouts and analysts built by Dan Ashworth seem to rate him....

But with £10m last year we were able to sign Benie Traore on a permanent and Cameron Archer on loan for a season. Worked out really well for us. Who’s to say we couldn’t do the same again? Don’t know what you’re worrying about!

Basket case

Weeeeerz new owners figure in this. It’s like buying a house in decent nick then getting keys and walking through doors to find kitchen, bathroom and all the sockets and switched have been sold.

Keep him. Already lost another with high potential in Jebbo and Osula is better than him. Need some long term thinking at the top of the pitch.

It's a cliche at this point but are we going to get a prospect as good for that money? I doubt it. Hold on and concentrate on playing and coaching him into the finished article

Personally I like him and he's got potential but I'd take it but fair enough if others wouldn't, understandable. But bugger me, if you search his name on here there's hundreds of posts about him saying he's quick, strong, finishes well in the u21's and has potential....nobody really faulting him but plenty saying he's not good enough, some saying he is, all saying he's very raw.

Today though, he's suddenly become one of the hottest striking prospects in Europe and worth £50-60 million. I feel like I've awoken from a coma (a long'un at that).

If they are in for him, it's for potential, not for the first team.

Must be a loan back clause in it? With substantial sell on clauses I could see this working.

Plus a big wedge up front so we can get some more bodies through the door.

Lad is one of the hottest striking prospects in Europe. He scores double figures this season he is easily worth double that. We have just got him on a long contract why on earth would we sell him for cheap.
We won't mate...that's the main point he's on a long term contract so it's up to us what deal, if any we strike.

It's not impossible that he will be sacrificed but this regime do not undersell our players. If the richest club in the world want him he's going for a lot more than 10m

Fuck that! Get rid of Souza/ Anel. Who don't want to be here, and pinched fucking money last season without breaking sweat!

How many of those appearances were off the bench, and/or in one of the worst Premier League sides of all time? He’s a 20-year-old kid who has barely played much men’s football, you can’t really judge him off some mostly bench-based appearances for a team that hardly scored anyway.

Yes losing Osula and Jebbison this season would be like Deane and Fjortoft all over again.

I think this climbs the bladey bollocks charts up to at least number 2.

We shouldn’t need to sell Osula to fund deals, the money from Bogle Jebbo and Traore covers Moore and Burrows … give him a good go at it this season

I had to re-read this. For a minute I thought your first sentence was serious. For what it's worth I hope we keep Osula but a flat track bully is no good to us he has to start scoring against better teams.

Confirmation here that some fans are of the same small mentality of the club.

Academy product, fast, athletic, strong and still growing, great atttitude. What is he, 20?
Absolutely dominating his age, and has premier league experience.
Shown his finishing ability at youth level we are just waiting for him to relax with the experience games gives and see his confidence rocket.

Has years on his contract and about to play for a club in the championship with (for now at least) multiples of some of the most creative midfield players we’ve seen at the club generating a lot of chances for him. A team that has the signs of dominating possession and being on the front foot in games.
Stays fit, he’s getting 10 from the bench….more if he gets a starting berth due to injury.

Then we have an even bigger asset.

Ask this…what would Southampton sell him for?

He's one good season from being worth 30 million. That's modern football. His physical attributes are outstanding, he just needs to knit it together. He's a babbi in striker terms yet you already have people writing him off 🤣. If we get a quality squad together and we can flat track bully this division it will probably happen for him this season. It may do regardless. It'd be interesting to know if the people writing him off are the same people who wrote Dom off 👀🎣.

If Newcastle are willing to meet in the middle and drop twenty (with a healthy sell on and multiple other clauses) then there'd be a decent counter argument. Ten million is them laughing at us thinking they can take advantage of our predicament.
Credit to Howe/Ashworth for this cheeky punt though. A bit like me or you offering a few grand for an almost new sports car because you hear the owners in a bit of financial trouble and wanting a quick sale. If you don't ask, you don't get.

It should go without saying: if he goes a lot of young players with big future resale value potential need to be acquired or we'll end up with our shelves full of short term, high wage players, nobody wants. Spend on loans and ageing players and embrace our downfall if we don't go up. The shelves are looking a bit bare as it is 😢. Thank God for the academy eh.
