Aims for this season

What are people's thoughts on what we can achieve this year?

As a team coming down from the Prem, the stereotype is often that a club spends big with the parachute money to get back up, with that often being successful. But considering the tight finances (at present - perhaps subject to change with the takeover), and the high player turnover, is that entirely viable this season? Yes we've made smart signings so far, but will that be enough, both during this season, and a hypothetical follow up year back in the PL?
Hopefully not to be as shite as last season 👍

To avoid relegation and admin. Obviously.

If we sign a decent striker, Top 6, realistically I want us to build through the year and if we don't go up be in a really strong position for next season

Hi Stegosaurus here.,

I reckon it has to be avoid relegation the way things are going. The club in dead lumber, our best players leaving in droves. It's gonna be a tough season. We need to get rid of Wilder for starters and get some fresh blood in. He's useless. I could definitely see Wednesday finishing ahead of us this season they have all the foundations ready including a top manager for a big push towards the playoffs.

Tired old pig. Gets more obvious by the day.

I think we need to do the complete opposite to this

If we sign another 5:
Keeper
Gilchrist (or equal to)
Central defensive cover
Burrows
Striker cover.

Then I would be hoping for play offs and an outside chance of top 2 if we have a very good Jan transfer window.

My prediction is that we'll sing probably 3 of those and we'll be around 8th.
My main hope is that we don't lose to them lot and finish above them.
I have no fear of relegation at this stage.
But there is still 5 weeks of the transfer window, so a lot can change quickly.

This question is probably best asked either on 8tn August and again 1st September.

I'd just be happy with a mid table finish and not bloating the squad with veteran roster cloggers

Sad grunting two-hat. Nowt better to do with your time!

My comprehensive and foolproof plan for this season:

1. Tekken Ovva
2. ??????
3. Promotion

Takeover or not, pushing for PL shouldn't be a target this season. Rebuild solidly, get the confidence back and some deeper established players in the squad. Then push.

We won't finish in the top 10......we are not good enough as things stand.

Currently we would finish 12th. We wouldn’t be able to handle any injuries / suspensions.

We get GK / CB / LB / RB / CM/ 2 Wingers / St

We will finish top 4

Hi Rochdaleblade here. Going to pop you on ignore, as I'm fed up waiting for the asteroid to hit. This is nonsense even by your porktastic standards.

Beat the pigs home and away.
Promotion.

3 things, simple.

Without a takeover - survival & do not lose to the other lot.

With a takeover - promotion & double over the other lit

JOHN TEXTOR! Show yourself. Then let’s go on an ass kicking ride to the top of the championship

The Championship is shit.

Last seasons squad of underperforming whimps finish top 6. Easy.

Yes, this season could be a transitional one for the club.

But we will still trouble top 6 and be nowhere near relegation fodder.

That’s my prediction.

Completely agree with this post.

The championship’s standard compared to the premiership has dropped. I don’t think we are in any danger of going down like some people have said. We’ve got the makings of one of the best midfields in the league with Hamer, Arblaster (provided he keeps developing), and Cal O’Hare. Get some loans in, Rak Sakyi and Gilchrest should be top priority. Finally get in Burrows, maybe another centre half and winger and we’d be alright.

Oh yeah, Grbic finally fucking off would be good.

My prediction is 5th place.

Let’s see where we are at the end of the transfer window .. with the right recruitment..top 8 . No investment & freebies & loans mid to lower half ⚔️
