Reading the Oliver McBurnie threads gives the impression that the fanbase are split around 50/50 on whether to keep him/whether he's good enough for us.

We've had other players like this, such as Berge and Bogle where one half of the fanbase sees things that the other half don't.

Can anyone think of any further examples?

I remember Traianos Dellas always being one of those players that we couldn't quite figure out, I always thought he was brilliant, he was massive but could skip past players as though he had the centre of gravity of prime Duffy, but my mates and family all thought he wasn't good enough. His number of appearances matches that too, in 2 seasons with us he played 26 games

The guy was a fucking beast, more than held his own in Serie A and was immense in Greece's Euros win. Not sure if his appearance record was down to injury or astonishing myopia on the part of our management but correctly deployed he was a man around whom to build a team.

John Gannon.

Some fans gave him the middle name Fucking.

Yeah Gannon was a wired one.. never could put a finger on what he did , but the stats showed we always seemed to get better results when he was in the team

I was sticking up for Ramsdale in the early part of that Prem season. Spent months being told I knew fuck all

Adrian Heath’s words after releasing him were along the lines of “looking at his number of appearances I don’t think he’ll be missed”.

I was 15 at the time but to my eyes he looked the real deal. Bigger and stronger than everyone else on the pitch, could pass a ball and carry it forward. Scored a couple of great goals as well.

Dont know if he struggled a bit with fitness but never seemed to get a proper look in under Spackman, Thompson or Cabbage Head.

Part of a long tradition of foreign Blades players who we signed with seemingly no intention of ever giving them a run in the side.

Andy Goram

Fortunately there was one for each opinion

George Long. Funnily enough he's had a decent career at Championship level which I remember some wise poster repeatedly predicting.

Vini Souza is a decent player with an awful attitude.

Micky Doyle was a clogger and his presence in our first team for the first four years in League One was a key reason why we remained in League One. See also Neill Collins but the opinion isn't as divided on him

Sander Berge is a very good midfielder but not in a struggling team

Jack Robinson won't finish this season as a regular. He's the inverse of Souza: great attitude, limited player.
