I did say this deal has been done for weeks now and it was just a case of how the fee was going to be split (we wanted to pay less upfront and more in add-ons). Few people owe some apologies out on this thread for their gullibility..😛
At least now we only have a few days left of ‘rifleman’ before he will come back with a new user name no doubt.

I think you could be right. When you consider we've already got RND as well as McCallum then it does seem strange to sign another left back but saying that, RND has obviously had his injury problems and maybe we just can't rely on him coming back to stay fit.

I'm cuffed Burrows is signing like we all are. He looks a really good player.

I think years of supporting United have probably left you drained and glass half full as a result, Roy! It's something we all have to an extent!

But if the season started with this squad , with Burrows, we'd be in the play offs. How many other teams in midtable have the quality of Hamer, Arblaster, O'Hare and Moore?!

Not the likes of Preston. Give it another week or two of recruitment and I predict, with confidence, that well be pushing top two next season. You can quote me on that come May!

Hope you're right obviously but I think this squad is way off top 6 as it stands. We have no keeper, no right back, one proven striker and no proven back ups. I fear there is a big underestimation of how bad The Championship is. The squad we currently have is much worse than the one we had when we came down last time. In the squad that made the play offs under Hecky we had Wes, Bogle, Baldock, Egan, Bash, Norwood, MGW, Ndiaye, McBurnie, McGoldrick and Sharp. All either in their prime or not far off. We're miles off that at the minute

GK: Davies, Grbic

RB: Curtis (Shackleton)
LB: McAllum, Burrows
CB: Trusty, Anel, Robinson, RND, Freckleton

MID: Arblaster, Hamer, Souza, Peck, Shackleton, O'Hare, Davies, Brooks, Slimane

ATT: Osula, Moore, Brewster, McBurnie

GK defintiely needed, RB definitely needed. CB needed if Anel leaves. Need an attacker capable of playing wide if we are playing 4-2-3-1.
 

Posh have always drove a hard bargain. Chairman was on Talk Sport last week saying how he got into a twitter spat with a Blackburn journo after he said Leeds should be signing Szmodics........the journo accused McCanthony of only saying it because Posh have a considerable sell-on clause!

I think we are 2/3 quality loans away from being able to compete at the top end of the division…

Even without that believe we’re still a couple of solid pros away from being a solid side in the division. All our depth has gone really and will need to be replaced with bodies or a (risky) reliance on youth.

There’s work to do at CB, RB and GK as a minimum.

As it stand (pre anel / souza sales) and assuming a keeper comes in. There’s just about a decent 11 but nothing behind it

Loans will be key definitely. That will be the difference between a play off push and a mid table season. Our injury record has to hugely improve too.

Agree ,we have had a problem at left back for years but now we have solved that we have a problem at right back also center back .New GOALIE IS A MUST and a striker so i feel we have a long way to go yet .
 
The “11” we have right now is more than capable of mounting some sort of play-off push imo, are we really that far off an aging West Brom side?. The problem, we don’t have anywhere near the amount of depth required to compete consistently over the course of a season.

I heard him too, he was bigging up Ivan Toney, saying he’s easily one of the best strikers in the Premier League and he’s really surprised a Liverpool, Man Utd etc haven’t come in for him.

He said Spurs should get rid of Richarlison and replace him with Toney then he’s convinced they’ll be challenging for the title.

He later admitted Peterboro have a healthy sell on clause with Brentford and he admitted his surprise and disappointment that Toney hadn’t yet been sold by Brentford. He admitted that Burrows looks like he’ll be sold but hinted that if Toney was sold this Summer then Peterborough will receive a few million and would then be able to massively increase their salary offer to tempt Burrows to stay.

Can’t say but the tiny bits I get are from an excellent source

Even using some logic with the all the articles about deal agreed and medicals, it’s not rocket science anyway to come to the conclusion that a deal was/is imminent
