Wish him all the best but apart from effort he is 6/10 on pretty much every aspect of football. Now that's fine as you know he'll not let you down but he's hardly irreplaceable either. He hasn't a specialist position either, with MacCullam and possibly Burrows he's not going to play his best position of lwb. He's not going to add much at left centre mid because he doesn't have the quality to drive and make things happen and defensively he runs around a lot but I don't recall too often him actually breaking up play.

I'm disappointed to hear the way it's ended saying that. It seemed Wilder wanted him to stay only for the new ownership to intervene which won't assist with the wilder to ownership relationship.

How do we know the new ownership intervened?

Another one to be told in good faith he’d be here for another season only for backword to be given.

It really shouldn’t be happening. It’s frankly unprofessional and that’s putting it mildly.

Our entire recruitment and retention process is desperately in need of a major overhaul and rethink. Smacks of Tin Pot.

And we, as fans, then wonder why no fucker wants to sign !!!!

Good luck Ben btw 👏.

You can excuse the Prince for not having much money, but I get the impression he can be very disingenuous and not somebody one should easily trust. I'll be disappointed if he stays on.

Just going on what was reported by the media, think it was local media. By the new ownership not The Prince
Fair enough

New potential owners stop the continued contract of a squad player

How very comforting and highly strategic

I wish him well for the future, he came in & did the job he was signed to do & always put 100% effort in, which should be the bare minimum a football should give but often isn't.

1 or 2 things happening that don't reflect well on the club, it needs sorting whoever is in charge.

Nothing but good things to say about Ossie. An occasional feature in our best season in my lifetime. Contributed to getting us back up with the club on a financial precipice. Unfailingly professional and reliable during the worst season in our history. He shamed his expensive teammates by doing the fundamentals that they wouldn’t.

Tactically aware and totally committed. A virtually guaranteed 6/10 performer in half a dozen positions on the pitch, almost always in difficult circumstances.

Internet fools and PlayStation managers only see what he couldn’t do. Anyone who bothers to understand the reality of a squad game and working within the limitations of a club with SUFC’s resources knows his value.

Go well Ossie. 🫡 🫖 🏠

Poor lads recently lost his Dad. Who was integral to his career. At the same time we’ve been fucking him over with a contract. He wasn’t a great great player, but he was good at what was needed from him.

Lovely lad, gave his all. I’m glad he’s at his boyhood club.

I hate to say it. But..

Fuck of United. Disgraceful behaviour.

Given the manager publicly said he wanted Osborn to stay it's obviously concerning he isn't and is going to a rival club in the same league.
Presumably Wilder is going to be doing some media next week. Interesting times ahead.

Hi Stegosaurus here

In all seriousness, I'd have kept him. At least he put the effort in, unlike some of the team. He's a perfectly serviceable backup option for a Championship club. Not a great player, but you can't say he never gave anything less than 100%. Plus he can cover plenty of positions too. I'd have kept him--a good option to have on the bench to bring on when we're winning or cover for injuries.

If he isn't injured himself that is.

As of now, he is out of contract in the summer, but United do have an option on his contract to extend it by a year. And speaking after the Brentford game, Osborn is content to remain with the Blades. “I hope so,” he said to The Star. “The gaffer’s spoken about potentially extending my option, so hopefully it’ll get sorted and I’ll be here for another year, at least.”

Chris Wilder is determined to keep the utility player around for next season. He revealed in a past interview with The Star, “we’ve spoken to Ben about extending. He’s got an option on his contract and he’s one we would like to work with next year.”

We don’t know the facts behind what happened so it’s pure speculation at this point.
You’re right, only a select few know the full detail but there is enough anecdotal evidence from a variety of reasonably reliable sources, McBurnie’s thinly veiled criticism being the latest, to suggest there may well be some truth in the rumours around his contract having been being pulled. Let’s face it, the club are not exactly renowned for being quick to release information to the local media and fans about anything let alone something of this nature, so all we’re left with is speculation and hearsay.

As you say, only a few know. However the offer of a contract can be withdrawn anytime prior to being signed. “Wants him to stay” “discussing options” aren’t contractual and he hasn’t had more than the offer of a contract/extension pulled. Something that happens everyday throughout business.t

Was he offered a contract? Was the offer withdrawn? If so, whose decision was it?
Told the option was being activated and he was being extended on top of that.

Didn't even tell him it was withdrawn, he had to ring them to find out. Then told him on the phone.

All change again as they told him to wait as it might change and he might actually be retained.

Club blamed the new owners, but also said that the new owners aren't actually in place yet.

As anyone would, he didn't like being toyed with and told them to bollocks
