Innocent parties can certainly get into trouble, there just seems to be a theme with some posters that they weren’t looking for it but it always seems to find them.I agree that if you're finding trouble regularly, or did, then it suggests you're not trying to avoid it.
But...the idea that you only find it if you are looking is bollocks.
I'm too young to remember the 70s and was only a kid through most of the 80s. But the first time I found it was at Chesterfield in the late 80s. Me and a few mates, 15 or 16, minding our own business after getting off the 70 bus.
I've never run with the BBC or gone to a match thinking I'll get involved in bother.
However, there have been times when it's found us just for being in the wrong place and if I'm honest, a few times when I've reacted to provocation.
I guess pearl clutchers are gonna clutch though.
In 2 occasions out of 200+ away games I’ve found myself on the end of something, both times were outside the away end immediately after the match (Molineux and Milmoor), you either walked past the idiots and risked a smack or you stood and waited.
