I'd make an exception for a year with Robson as I think he offers something we can't easily replace. Decent playmakers are difficult to find. Reasonable 3rd division defenders are ten a penny.

Get him fitter and stick him in a 5-man midfield surrounded by good runners and a holding man to cover. Perhaps....

We'd have to play three at the back and find a pair of proper attacking wingbacks. It could work but it's a chuff of a lot of trouble for one old bugger who has the rare skill of trapping a football.

We play McDonald just in case any of our wingers get into space. They don't mind, but just in case. And because McDonald can't run, we play a runner who can't pass at the side of him. So it's not like Robson would replace a bunch of multi talented individuals....:)

...... (imagine he was on 4K a aweek x 9 months = 36K; now 2.5K x 18 = 45KK - granted that is all guesswork of course but cannot imagine he would have seen his salary halved and remained!).......

It's worse than that DB.....4k a week for 9 months is around 144K, 2.5k for 18months is around 180K

Sorry did his salary x number of weeks rather than months. Math never my strong point.

Whatever it is; it is too much!

Really!? What has murthy done so far to suggest we should not be looking to offload him ASAP? Flynn has been ok at times and poor in others and is not an effective winger - ironically tho I could see him being better suited to a central role for us!

I'm amazed at how highly people seem to rate such average players just for being less poor than others in what is an awful standard, both for united and for the league as a whole!

And yet you talk about offloading Harry if a bid for £1.5m comes in. That is exactly the sort of small minded quick profiteering that will contiune to kill us.

Get a strong spine with Long, McGuire (+1), McDonald (+1) and a decent strike force and build around that. These players should not be for sale end of.

I'd put my mortgage on Doyles contract being extended on a much reduced salary - to allow us room under the FFP rules. As such, it was a needs must. The club gives us lots to criticise it for, but I don't think this one is fair.

Doyle has played this season like he's earning less than he did the season before.

I had a ITKer and I was informed Kitson had been paid in the region of £10k a week!!! he scored a few goals, held the play up a bit, some nice knock ons between moaning to the ref, but could have at least got fit for that sort of money

Danny Coyne - Offload

Lescinel Jean-Francois - Rolling one year deal especially considering his fitness
Danny Higginbotham - Already keeping him it seems
Marcus Williams - Sell if we can or release
Terry Kennedy - Keep for another year?

Ryan Flynn - Sell and replace with better if possible? (Wishful thinking)
Matty Harriot - Keep for another year?
Barry Robson - Offer a rolling one year deal

Chris Porter - Sell anyway despite his contract
Dave Kitson - Offer a rolling one year deal or offload
Richard Cresswell - Keep as coach or offload

I find that very hard to believe. He wasn't remotely fit for weeks after we signed him, so we'd have spaffed epic amounts of money on nothing. Even we're not that stupid.

(are we?)

Surely the idea of the extended deals on lower terms is a bit like when you take a loan or mortgage out from the bank. Take it over longer and pay less each month to ease the cash flow. We'd all like to pay off any money owing quicker but sometimes we have to remortgage to get the payments down.

Can't believe Porter was given a 2 year deal last season, he's a trier I'll give him that but that's about it.
As for the Higgingbotham 1 year deal mumblings I hear I do hope he has a clause in his contract that states he can never play left back again. It doesn't make any sense to offer him a deal while the manager situation is up in the air, unless of course it's not. ;)

Transfer kitty for the 2013-14 season - but I expect it will be half of this

I reckon he was getting a pretty hefty appearance fee to take him towards that figure, rather than being paid it as a weekly wage.

Confirms what we already knew, whoever I think his tag line on the pictures shows he doesn't really care. Saying that I think he proved that by walking straight down the tunnel against Yeovil.

obviously im not in the know, but i would imagine we gave him the deal out of desperation. at the time he signed we pretty much had no strikers at all. porter probably got offered a 2 year deal elsewhere and forced us to either match it or lose him. if we werent run by idiots, we would have probably got rid of him. but were always in the position where, if we lose a player, they may not get replaced for 2 years or ever!

I will probably get slated for this, but the core of the team is pretty good. Certainly the spine has experience and is proven at this level. We need to keep hold of Long and Maguire, of those with contracts ending the only one I would offer one to is Matty Harriot.

With Long in goal and a defence of McMahon, Collins, Maguire and Hill we have a very good defensive unit. I would want cover though ..... and not Higginbottom! With McFeazden, Murphy and Flynn as options out wide then I think we're ok in that area. I'd be looking to bring in some competetion for Doyle and K Mac, but they proved in 2011/12 that they can be a very good midfield pairing. Up top is a major problem area. It would br great if we can get Miller fit, but if not we desperately need reinforcements. Porter is ok, and could do a job, but he is so limited.

I actually think with the current squad and a decent manager we should be pushing for promotion. the decent manager would need to be good tactically, make a few shrewds signings (such as Wilson's signings off Murphy, Blackman and Miller) and be a good motivator. The problem is finding someone. We saw how hopeless this team looked under Morgs (appart from Brentford and Swindon where he fired them up) and Wilson had clearly lost it too.

I actually agree with much of that, and had long been predicting a Charlton style promotion next season if we didn't go up this time...

But there are two things I hadn't expected:

1, The club cutting the playing budget yet again.
&
2, The club sacking the manager and making a prolonged shamble-athon of replacing him.

As such, my confidence is gone. Transfer windows come but twice a year, and we're letting another drift past with no-one at the helm.

Well, we must be close to hearing about the Retained List.

I would like to see Coyne, LJF (reluctantly but he's still not fit), Harriott, Kitson, Cresswell and Robson released.

We're hearing rumours Higginbotham has an option to stay but I'd like to see him released as well.

I would like to see the following available for transfer: Porter, Williams and Doyle.

That gives us some wiggle room to rebuild the squad.

I see on Mad someone has spoken to Bill Dearden's daughter and he has gone as Chief Scout. Much as he has been a great servant of the past I'm not surprised this time round - he's 70 next birthday ! Thanks for the memories in the 70s, put your feet up and now let Weir restructure the scouting network

So we'll be starting the coming season with largely the same group of players who weren't good enough last season with an unproven manager and minus our top goalscorer.

Where's the fire dude?

Signed 5 promising players and got rid of some dead weights.. Give them a chance for gods sake

hasnt Cresswell gone to york ?

Been a little busy to update as of yet, will do a clean sweep of it and move over to the stats/contracts in the ratings system later in the week.

Nice bit of info this, looking at those contracts for the end of this season it looks as though we finally have the chance to clear out some of our previous managers poor recruits and allow Weir to properly build his own squad.

It's not 100% up to date as I'm transitioning it to the Player Ratings System
