Any one who thinks Segars was playing with a straight bat is in my opinion deluded!
Have you seen some of the goals Girbic has let in since he signed?
Is he involved in a conspiracy to relegate us?

He did. Unequivocally the most blatant act of cheating I’ve ever witnessed. An obvious “bung”Agree that we screwed up at Oldham (had Simon Tracey sent off) & then messed up at Chelsea. So it was our own doing. However, there was strange stuff going on in matches involving Wimbledon around that time. I recall a bizarre game at Wimbledon where Fashanu virtually caught the ball from a defending corner - infact I think he may have done it twice.
Yea you are as I described # DeludedHave you seen some of the goals Girbic has let in since he signed?

He was charged with match fixing and had a crown court trial and the Everton game was one of the games that was specifically mentioned in court that he had allegedly fixed. First trial couldn’t get a decision and second trial he ended up getting not guilty for fixing. Some strong allegations been made here that a goalkeeper threw a game, so if the sleuths of s2 have spotted this how come he wasn't charged with it?
I wish I lived in your world , everything is squeaky clean and no one ever did anything untoward....Have you seen some of the goals Girbic has let in since he signed?

That’s not what you said. You said how come he wasn’t charged with it, he was charged. Just correcting you.So "not guilty" means he wasn't guilty of match fixing?
You ever heard of a miscarriage of justice ? Thought notSo "not guilty" means he wasn't guilty of match fixing?

I'm a bit surprised you seem so determined to put all the blame on United for getting relegated to be frank. We got 38 points that season which was a very good effort, especially considering that the team was ageing, had lost Brian Deane, and Harry got about half of the Deane money to reinvest in several players which were needed, given that the likes of Gannon, Gayle, Hodges and Rogers were all past their best and we needed several new players as well as a replacement for Deane; it was a thanklass task. Some strong allegations been made here that a goalkeeper threw a game, so if the sleuths of s2 have spotted this how come he wasn't charged with it?

As for Wimbledon, well I recall Harry saying recently that he'd spoken to Vinny Jones on it who said "you don't want to know, Harry". Harry, who knows a lot more about Wimbledon and what what happened than me, has regularly said it stunk what happened.
I'm not blaming Everton because we just don't know whether they were involved, but I do think Segers was very suspicious in that game. Even if Segers just made a mistake and there was no money involved as a bribe etc, it was a very poor save for their winner, ironically from future blade Graham Stuart. And as I say we did remarkably well that season in my view to get to 38 points with a forward line of free transfer Adrian Littlejohn, free transfer Bobby (Bobby, Bobby) Davison, free transfer Alan Cork and Jostein Flo in his season in English football who cost £400,000 which was hardly a lot even in those days. Bassett bought Nathan Blake for £350,000 from third division Cardiff City and that was a cracking signing but that didn't happen until February time and he had to adjust to PL football.
Go through that side and it was full of more free transfers and low buys. Yes we threw away a 2 - 1 lead to Chelsea but that can happen in any game, it was hardly 2 nil up and losing 3 - 2. Stein who cost £1.5m and scored 13 goals in 18 games after joining from Stoke scored in the last minute.
You would have to be very naive to think that taking bungs for helping to sway a football match result wasn't happening back in the early 90s. It's been happening for as long as there have been sporting matches. People taking back handers to give a penalty away, let an easy goal or two go in, or make the horse run slower, or take a fall in the 5th round, or make sure you have disastrous round with the golf clubs etc.
The reality of the situation is that Fashanu was trying to throw the game against us. I was there at Plough Lane that day and saw it with my own eyes and we were all laughing at how obvious it was. From memory, to a man, everyone in the away end didn't really want the late penalty decision as it was too bleedin obvious what was going off.
As for Segers, he took money, I think that's obvious. I don't think Everton were in on 'it', neither the shit referee who gave a really soft penalty to Everton too. I just think if you are wanting to fix a game for one team to win then the obvious man to approach is the opposition keeper who can always 'have a mare' on the day. Problem though was Everton were that bad, it made Segers have to be especially obviously poor by virtually having to dive the wrong way at times.
SUFC fucked up themselves on the day in true Blades fashion, but don't deny the truth that is clear to see. Segers wasn't overly sincere in his performance shall we say, that day. Despised him and Fashanu ever since. Cheats.
The point re Fash is that Wimbledon on that day, or just Fash, was very odd behaviour that had it been now we'd have definitely thought he was bribed. Fashanu even had a go at the linesman for not giving the second pen! I don't think whether Everton were involved is the main story given that it' has never been proven that they were involved at all, but somehing very fishy was going on with Segers and that save, no one will convince me otherwise. The Fashanu incident I was there and yes we should have had a pen but in the grand scheme of things didn't cost us owt.

I think if you look at the evidence of the money transactions, the cash he received and was depositing in the bank I think it’s clear he was fixing games. But not for Everton I agree they were not party to it or were any other team for that matter, it was purely for the far east betting ring that was paying him to throw games imo.3 Everton fans on my urbanisation agree 100 per cent Segers threw the game , they are not bothered as Everton werent a party to it
and Bruce Grobbelar commented other betting went on and he implied Segers was a regular offender,
I was there he did it twice but the ref only gave a pen for the first oneAgree that we screwed up at Oldham (had Simon Tracey sent off) & then messed up at Chelsea. So it was our own doing. It cost us a potential two more points and certain survival, if scored. The Fashanu incident I was there and yes we should have had a pen but in the grand scheme of things didn't cost us owt.
I'm not determined to do anything I just don't believe there's a conspiracy to keep Everton in the prem and send us down.
I went to 30 games that season and agree we did almost pull off a miracle given as usual the board fucked the manager over by selling our best player.
However as ever our destiny was in our own hands and we blew it and that isn't Everton, Segars or the FA Fault
Ditto - I was there and it was jaw droppingI was there - he did it twice. No doubt in my mind he was up to something.
You have to remember the Premier league was only 2 years old.
Everton in those days were one of the 'Big 5' who were behind its formation along with Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs & Arsenal. Man City and Chelsea were not at the top table in those days.
To have 'one of their own' relegated was inconceivable. This was not how the brand new, shiny Premier league product was supposed to look.
Dark forces were at work that day. I remember being in the car on the way to Chelsea and hearing on the news that the Wimbledon coach had been torched during the night.
At half time we were hearing Everton were losing. Everton had a soft underbelly in those days. No way were they going to come back and beat a team like Wimbledon.
So even when Chelsea scored their third many of us were still confident.
On the Monday at work a Blade from an office across the road came in and told me that there were strong rumours that the Everton / Wimbledon game had been fixed.
The game against Wimbledon was from the 90/91 season. It cost us a potential two more points and certain survival, if scored.
Whoops! You are right my mistake. Think it stopped us from winning 8 on the trot? The game against Wimbledon was from the 90/91 season.
Yeah I think it did, then lost away at Forest to end the unbeaten run?Whoops! You are right my mistake. Think it stopped us from winning 8 on the trot?
Beat Luton and then lost to Forest, you are right. What a season that was!Yeah I think it did, then lost away at Forest to end the unbeaten run?
