He sums up the whole team for me. Just as we seem to turn a corner and put in a decent performance, it all turns to shit again.

Cracking performance against Luton, if we do that the rest of the season we could be in with a chance, then put in a performance like the one against Brighton and last night and reverts back to type again.

Could be pretty handy in the Championship next season or in a team with better players at this level but to look to him to be the main man to build the team around, not so sure. In terms of who we do build a team around, no idea. The man for that is at Marseille.

Nearly 2 months on, it's likely he's going to leave. Especially considering his comments about the club to the media. I think we should build around our Oli Arblaster. I think he's a cracking player.

Wilder singled him out by shoving him in front of the kop at the end. Like he often has when a player's deserved it

Good to see that he understood the significance of it too

Hopefully it's the start of a new standard for Souza and a new connection between him, the manager and fans. We need him to be good this season to stand any chance, ultimately

Whatever Wilder has said to him over the summer seems to have worked.
I was really dubious about his attitude but he keeps saying words to the effect of "enjoy the fight".
I wonder if Wilder has told him about previous cult heroes like Booker , Monty , Basham and said that if he knuckles down , puts the effort in , he could emulate them ?
Obviously doing well but with that comes the question of what cover do we have if he's injured or suspended.
Not only would we miss his energy but , with the number of small players we have , we'd miss his strength & stature.
Is it Peck ?

Absolutely class. He looks a different player to last season but to be fair he arrived to a shit show. He does look fitter and in way better shape and as he said he's relaxed off season and worked his arse off in pre season.

He'll be a stand out player if we can keep him all season. Lovely fun guy aswell.

We have a bit of attitude and thuggery about us this season (compared to our powder puff attitude in the EPL) which is all down to wilders recruitment to focus on attitude and team spirit.

Yes, yes it is. UTB

Was interesting hear his interview. Sounded like he was saying he had really missed home and his family. No excuse but must be tough especially when you are just getting spanked in front of 30,000 on a weekly basis.

Happy for the lad to see him enjoying his football with us now and hope he takes the opportunity to build and grow from here. If he keeps on like this though, someone will buy him in Jan!

Wilder making sure he got his time at the end, pushing him out in front of the kop.
Great to see him and others starting to get the buzz back (and us too!)

Vini had a decent game , but let's not get carried away just yet, Souza and the rest of the lads will look good at this level and to be fair they should do. When they all bed in we'll see the best of them, on paper we're as decent as any of our rivals in this league. Keep signing the odd player to improve the squad in January etc and build for the future, utb

Credit where it’s due, fantastic performance yesterday. Fair play to him coming and taking the plaudits from the fans at the end as well.

The drop in standard of opposition clearly has allowed him the chance to shine and the lack of decent offers in the summer has probably given him (and Anel) a bit of a reality check in terms of attitude. For me, personally, there will need to be more than a handful of decent performances to make me re evaluate my opinion on him after last season but at least we are moving in the right direction and look like we have a player on our hands at this level at least.

We all love a Coutts style redemption arc.

Yes I can understand how he feels . Before I retired I had to spend long spells away from home and family and at first it is a novelty but it gets tedious ,hopefully his trip back home helps him . He had the best match of his United career yesterday ,a transformation from last year . great to see it . well done mate . You know we will always back you when we see the effort is there .

I think Souza is one of maybe a few players that will benefit from a year in the championship. Being dropped into 'that' situation we found ourselves in last year can't be easy and he strikes me as a bit of a confidence player who needs things to be going well for him to thrive.

I wonder how he'll get on if there's ever a time this year where we 'need' a result after some dodgy performances but we'll have to see how he gets on.

Still, much improved.

Last year he really came in unfit and not up to the speed of the game. I’d said it in threads last year that there looked to be a player in there but he wasn’t up to the speed of the gane

We saw a different player once he got his fitness and for a few games he looked fit, sharp and up for it.

But something did change, whether he was unsettled or missing home or something, his attitude changed. It was like he and many others gave up. It was when most of us gave up on him as a player.

Hes come back in this season and looks so different. I’m sure he and wilder have had very open chats and to be honest he’s bought into what we are as a club.

Yesterday and the games so far this season have allowed him to grow some more. Keep it up Vini
