IT'S COLD OUTSIDE! :D

No seriously:

Chief Executive Julian Winter says the newly-assembled Football Club Board at Bramall Lane are working hard behind the scenes in readiness for the appointment of Danny Wilson's permanent successor.

Winter, who returned to the post earlier this month, admits the 'managerial profile' for the new boss is very specific.

Speaking ahead of forthcoming interviews with the shortlisted candidates, Winter remarked: "We are currently preparing the ground for the new manager to arrive, understanding the model we are operating to, the players that fit that model and those that don't.

"Then the new manager will decide who stays and who is free to go when he has had time to assess his options. The process is underway and it is fairly fluid, we have done a lot of work to prepare a managerial profile, a detailed job description and outlining the understanding of how important our young players are to the future."

Winter believes the future remains bright for the Blades, despite conceding a change in approach is crucial moving forward.

He added: "It is never easy when a Club fails to achieve its aim from the start of the season, but things move on.

"Supporters are unhappy and understandably so, but everyone will get excited about the appointment of a new manager, the comings and goings of players and then the fixtures being released.

"We must move on, the Club has been through a difficult couple of years, but we have so much genuine potential and through belief and hard work we can realise that."

Mr Winter - If you have nothing to say Keep Shut!
I am already bored with his corporate speak
Unfortunately Julian my boy, this 'unlocked' potential as you say relies on belief and hard work - it was clear from last seasons performances that no one at BDTBL has got a days hard work in them and any belief we had has been dumped by abysmal performances from Doyle and Co
Personally I couldn't give a sh!t about your appointment of a no mark, coming and goings of players that are not worth a rats arse or the release of the Pub League fixtures for next season!!

He also said:
'When I originally joined the Club we had a sizeable squad and created a financial model that wraps around the football side, dependent on divisional status. Over a period of a time you have to transition into that working model, if investment arrives we could scale up.'

Anyone who speaks like this should not be anywhere near a football club especially not the club I support.

No doubt I'll get egg on my face and I'll look like a mug for buying in but at least the club are issuing statements and it makes me feel that they are trying.

In the past they have just left me shaking my head thinking; what the fuck

"It was only a Winter's tale
just another Winter's tale
and why should the world take notice
of one more club that's failed
a club that could never be
though it meant a lot to you and me
on a world wide scale we're just another Winter's tale."

Personally all for it. I wanted more communication from the club, hopefully this will continue when the new man is in place so that we are aware of what the plan is and how it's going instead of being treated like mushrooms and getting pissed off because the club don't communicate and we dont look like we have a plan.

Is it that bad? It makes sense to me. We can't go on like we have the past few years.

The new approach will only be successful with a good appointment though.

I think it is now easier to see how we can totally rebuild than it has been in previous seasons. It will take at least another year though.

Overly simplistic but I wouldn't be against releasing all the 'red' players below and then releasing all the 'amber' players at the end of next season. Use the majority of the greens as a base to build around and add to. It almost looks like a conscious effort, in the form of a medium term plan, to clear out some of the deadwood is starting to come to fruition.

Gets more difficult obviously when two of the greens have cruciate injuries and others are likely to be sold this summer!

If it's a completely new man, how is he going to assess the players now? Do the likes of Harriott and Kennedy have any chance of impressing him in training sessions, or are the players on holiday now? Will he just listen to Morgan's advice?

You are living proof that marketing works.

I'm sorry but this is how the business world speaks. You hear it everywhere. Of course if you wanted a bin man to run the club then that would be different.

Some people really do need to emerge from the dark ages and get some understanding of how shit happens.

usually in badly run organisations IME.. at least a bin man would have a clue on how to throw the rubbish out;)

Just come back from a 3 day business conference/gathering/call it what you will. We are exceptionally well run but pretty much every presentation you will see talks about market segmentation, preparing the ground for the new strategy launch or profiling of one sort or another.

Your other option is Charles Green who tells it (apparently) as it is and swears a lot. What actually matters though aren't the press releases and interviews (whats the point of any of this?) but the actions on the back of it. Badly run companies talk a lot and deliver nothing. Well run ones talk the talk but they then go and walk the walk. Thats where we fail.

Oh and I have nothing against Bin Men (or perhaps I should have said bin people) by the way. They don't often talk about market segmentation however :)

Maybe offer them a 6 month deal or perhaps it speaks volumes that the club have obviously followed a strategy of offering contracts to ex-academy players but these two have been left out?

Harriott has never really challenged despite our paucity of resources in his position. Shouldn't judge on one game but I thought Kennedy struggled really badly at Doncaster.

It makes it more difficult to let young players go when McCabe keeps referring to the ones we (in his opinion) let go too soon. Any manager will be wary of making a mistake when releasing a young player now.

Who is he talking about exactly Cooper? Any sales for wedge would have been his decision not the manager's. Not sure who has been released as not good enough at 18-20 and then gone on to significantly bigger and better things.

Think he's mentioned players like Forte, Horwood and Kevan Hurst.

That's hilarious. In a not laughing sort of way.

Two of them have been playing around our level and the other is *supposedly* better than us :)

I think that was his main point. They'd have been cheaper and maybe developed better than loaning/buying others at their level or worse.

Shylock McCabe must be in there somewhere?

And you can't really argue with that.

If Shakespeare came back now and was put in charge of team affairs then surely his first press conference would start: Hell is empty and all the devils are here.
