Anel

People will read into Wilders comments yesterday in different ways. For me he almost admitted that Anel wants to leave & we need to get the best deal we can so he doesn’t run his contract down.

Really good character shown by Anel after he’s been made captain since Wilder returned. You’d think he’d wait until the summer & see the season out.

For me he’s struggled with the pace & strength of the league and maybe a move back into a European league will suit his style more

Hindsight is wonderful when signing players. Brewster’s fucking rubbish, but I didn’t see many identifying that we signed him. I’d agree our recruitment policy has failed over recent years though.
A Liverpool fan who’s opinion I trust said at the time that they were gutted he had gone as they thought he was going to be a decent player.

Given that, at the time I was happy with the signing and the price. Nobody could foresee the shit luck he’s had with injuries but in the times he has played we’ve not had the best of him it’s fair to say

More importantly, it seems CW has learnt that some players can just toss it off if they are running down their contract (he mentioned LunnyCunt but didn't actually admit he was acting like an arsehole).

I understand some players in that position not wanting to get injured etc but I will never understand CWs continued selection of that wanker who was a disgrace that season with his lack of effort. That was an example of where CW missed a trick in not showing the rest of the squad how ruthless he could be by telling LC to fuck off and not come back to Shirecliffe again, in mid season.

Still, let's hope CW has learnt that lesson and that it was an error made in mitigating circumstances (covid lockdown).

If we get 17m for him we need to be signing our centre back of the next 10 years with the money not some end of career stop gap

Made a couple of mistakes v the Magpies but I think Ballard at Sunderland has the right profile. Hopefully our recruitment team know better than me and have someone lined up

Wouldn’t bank on it

Only if the £17m goes on strengthening the squad and we know it won’t.
We have been using it to bring in players, the unfortunate thing is we’ve been bringing weaker players in and spending money on players who are either development players or just simply not good enough, also the timing of any players in is always an issue in recent times, Wilder is annoyed at the the recent signings not being available for Sundays game, that’s just one example.

Both small centre backs who aren’t great in the air. Crap scouting to be sure.

Mepham is hardly small at 6ft 4".
Beat me to it. Mepham's not small and at the top level we don't need our centre halves to be amazing in the air (unless we're playing Long Ball Luton), it's the ground work and anticipation which is more important.

I've never been as angry as a fan watching Lundstram take the piss. I can accept players have off days but what he did and was allowed to continue doing was an absolute disgrace. I'm amazed he wasn't slotted by a fan as we all saw what he did. I hate him for what he did I'm 52 should know better and grow up but even seeing his name angers me.

I used to quite like Rangers up in Scotland (purely on football rather than any political persuasion) but since that twat signed for them I have wanted them to lose every game. Whoever he signs for next, I will be hoping that they also lose every game. Ideally he signs for Wednesday so I only have to loath one team. Like yourself, I can accept players not being good enough in a SUFC shirt, but I will never accept a players taking the piss with a total lack of effort. He was clearly telling the fans to fuck off. So fuck him.

I was just as annoyed with Wilder for letting the cunt play every game, it was a right pisstake.

Wholeheartedly agree. Why Wilder allowed him to take the piss I will never understand. Lunny the c@#T was stealing a wage and Wilder let him - I lost a lot of respect for Wilder during this time. Although the end game was even worse blaming everyone and everything other than himself and ultimately setting the place on fire on his way out! I think he’s an extremely lucky man to be getting a second bite at the cherry. Let’s hope he has learned from his previous mistakes, I’m not convinced he will have but I will be delighted to be proved wrong.

On his current form,he isn’t good enough for any premiership defence,I think he is a cracking player but something is not right mentally or physically. You may have a point,as these pampered players get the lip on at anything that doesn’t fit their lifestyle.
He had a great 1st season with us, however I think he's become a liability in the Prem & just can't cope with the power pace & physicality, doesn't read the game well enough to compensate for his weaknesses, give him time & space / marauding forward & set pieces...Great, but defensively he's a yellow/ red card waiting to happen, I'd be over the moon with 10m personally

When we played the Geordies,Gordon ripped him a new one and he became more timid after that experience. Looks ominous that he is going and I hope we spend the money wisely for next season, some astute deals done already this window and hopefully a couple of more younger players to tie up soon. Wilder seems to be proactive with this, makes me wonder if the Prince ever trusted Hecky enough.

With regard to Lundstram, WIlder allowed that to happen. He kept playing him for what? hoping he might do a u-turn and not piss off to Rangers anyway. I hope Wilder looks back over his last spell and realizes Lundstram was taking the piss out of him and the club.

Crap scouting only if we are really interested in them rather than media gossip.

Considering Holgate travelled down for a medical, you'd have to say slightly more than gossip..

Do like Holgate as a person, but think we dodged a huge bullet there.

As for Mepham, still see people saying would be a good signing... Friendly warning that if we do sign him fan's will quickly get underwhelmed and frustrated and call for him to be benched.. won't improve us whatsoever.

How do we know he travelled for a medical other than from the media ?

It's what usually happens when our better players leave.....how long have you been a Blade?
That we don't replace them ?
When was the last time we sold someone and didn't reinvest the money ?

He's been poor, doesn't seem to want to be here and definitely won't want anything to do with the Championship again. Get what you can and move on.

Those worried about not replacing him, he isn't going to be here next season so whoever we sign will offer more value
