Wilder has been lined up because he can bring his own fax machine which is new and works.

There's more chance of bleedin' Gene Wilder becoming our next gaffer.

Or Matthew Wilder...

I presume you mean Arse rather than Newcastle (which was another "no show" from the team). I can't argue with that.
I think we (Bassett more than anyone) made a huge mistake in getting the semi in '93 played at Wembley. We needed a tighter ground and smaller pitch in order to play the pigs and get up close and personal with Greasy Gloves Woods, who didn't seem to like playing against us around that time.

Probably true but at the time we hadn't played at Wembley for nearly sixty years. I thought I might never see us play there. Little did we know that we'd be sick of the sight of the place!

The numpty is now saying 'your manager'. On 11 April he'd been a Blade for thirty years. If you're going to talk shite at least do it consistently, Willie Leave.

I thought he'd just signed a new contract at Oxford?

However, today he's just dropped like a stone on oddschecker to fav apparantly and whilst that means f'k all as it changes daily on these gambling sites, there's a further rumour on BM that he's just moved to Sheffield!

Could be something in that....next nearest is 12/1 with Wilder at Evens.

Maybe they know something we don't!

He fits what McCabe mentioned at the Q&A! Someone young who can buy into the ethos of using the youth system to devlop players for the first team.

Wasn't that rumour from "the other place" started ages ago and roundly debunked? Still, it would tick McCabe's "Billy Big Blade" box, just depends whether he would be enough of a lickspittle for him.

Just taken a look at his Mangerial Record, nothing to write home about. Best League position is 9th in L2. Would be a gamble taking him on, but as I said above, fits McCabes bill of being young!

Wilders managerial record is actually very good, statistically anyway....! An overall win percentage of 44.8% and he's got a play-off victory on his cv........

Highest ever finish is 9th in L2.....previous clubs are Alfreton and Halifax......not really what we need is it!

yes lets get Appleton then ,hes had big clubs doesnt matter that hes shit.

Or what about Mark Hughes ?

to be honest Sots Im in a place where i dont really care at the moment. I would prefer Wilder to Morgan ,I can actually see them working together with Morgs as assistant. We have to remember a manager has to manage the team ,the club and the Chairman which is why i believe Morgs after match interview should not be read into too much. As much as i would like to dismantle the whole team and rebuild I think that would put us on a level with the rest of the division and we dont have the resources to build a complete team ,but 6 or7 departures and additions under a new manager with fresh ideas could be the way to go.
I would prefer Coyle and a clean sweep but Im a glass half full guy :)

If this turns out to be true after all, there's gonna be some eggy faces around these here parts...

He was at the 1st leg game. He was in the copthorne hotel.

Personally, I quite admire a manager who is willing to start at the bottom and work his way up.
Our most successful recent managers have both done that too (I.e. Bassett and Warnock)
I'd rather have someone with nearly 600 games under his belt than a rookie like Speed or Morgan.

I don't know enough about Oxford to know why they appear to have stalled at 9th in recent years.
Is that because their manager is no good or are they overachieving at 9th?
The fact their Chairman has extended Wilder's contract suggests the latter.

Wilder wouldn't be the worst option being mentioned in my opinion.

I'm really not excited by the prospect of Wilder as boss. However Sothall_Blade I very much agree that I'd rather have a manager with some relative experience under his belt than an unproven boss such as Morgs.

One advantage of Wilder would be that he may know some decent transfer targets suitable for the lower leagues!
