So, over the last two seasons we have seen our automatic place disappear and had to settle for the lottery that is the play offs. I heard Eddie Howe on Radio 5 the other day and he was asked about their recent form of 5 defeats then 8 wins on the bounce. He said that they had lost 2 influential players for those 5 games but when they returned they made the difference and things changed.
I can't help but think where we would be if Ched last season and Miller (Blackman too?) this had not disappeared from the team altogether. We are obviously a top 6 team but without the extra bit of quality that makes the difference.
Unfortunately I haven't got a clue how we can stop this bad luck from happening again. All I hope for is that for next season we get to play our best players for the whole of the campaign and the less influential ones are the ones we lose through injury/jail sentences etc.

Evans and Miller were the two players I felt would have got us up both seasons and neither were sold. That was purely bad luck.

True, so why, then, did we sell the best alternative just four weeks after and not effectively replace either of them whilst the transfer window was open?

but was Blackman all that. still not convinced, we/he was lucky we had 8 penalties beforexmas wed only had 1 up to the brentford game

He was a damned sight better than his replacements who, for those at the back , scored ONE GOAL between the pair of them. Are people really suggesting Blackman wouldn't have bettered that?

The main difference between automatic and the playoffs is at least two hundred quid spunked away extra, including semis, to watch us be fucking shit in another final. And it's a trip to that there London to bake in the sun again as the players show absolutely no intention of even trying to win the game, because their minds are in the nice holiday they've booked with the wages they've mainly stolen for a season, the spineless fuckers.

I don't think that is the suggestion. Forte has been a woefully inadequate replacement for Blackman. What I would say is that Miller has been a bigger loss than Blackman.

The diffrence from auto & play off is KMC.

If he didnt continously sell our best players & replace them with journeymen, has beens & never beens & loans.

Then we wouldnt be in League 1. And we sure as hell wouldnt be facing the prospect of life in League 1 for the forseeable.

Coily - I was replying to blade too long who reckoned Blackman wasn't all that. Whilst he's no world beater he would certainly have outperformed Poleon and Forte.

I'm almost 39 and presently suffering from an attack of gout that has made me consider sawing off my foot without anesthetic. And I'd have still outperformed those two clowns!

I've no doubt!

You have my sympathies with the gout, my Dad had a nasty flare up a couple of years back.

Don't worry about being in league 1 for the foreseeable future, next year we'll be getting relegated.

I agree Evans could hardly be sold who in their right mind would risk losing money to buy a on a player who was awaiting a rape trial. It was bad luck with Miller getting injured if not either he or Blackman would have been sold off.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear in my post. I was talking about this season, us selling Blackman, who was the best alternative to Miller, just four weeks after the former got injured on Boxing Day. Rather than selling Blackman, we should have been replacing Miller, keeping Blackman and showing a bit of ambition, not selling our main remaining attacking threat to sign fucking Robson (who was shit again when he came on today, might I add), Forte and Polio. I doubt those there's wages combined cost less than Blackman's and that's all the fair play rules account for, so that would be a weak excuse as well.

I don't pay to watch a profit United, I pay to watch football. Show me some.

The main difference is that if we fail to make an automatic spot the whole world knows that we fuck up the play offs.
It's one of the constants in the Universe.

Not sure the bookies will be bothered to take bets against us for the final and they will probably laugh their arse off on anyone betting on us to win.
