Well done "fans"

that's it i give up.. sheffield united fans are a bunch of fucking morons. goodbye. enjoy your hoofball.

Can I ask how many minutes you've seen Kevin McDonald play this season?

He's a quality player on his day, that doesn't mean he's unable to misplace passes/play poorly like the rest of them.

I'd suggest only a "fucking moron" would ignore what he sees with his own eyes dependent on the name on the back of a shirt.

Why abuse one, but absolve another of any blame based on his name?

this thread sums up the club right now.

amazing really cos if we'd kept blackman and signed 2 decent players, instead of selling him and signing 2/3 numpties, we probably would have sailed to promotion. instead its like the end of up pompeii. titter ye not.

After the words of wisdom from Doyle on Radio pig on the Tuesday morning he ought to have expected to have some abuse come his way. Saying the team has not underachieved what a complete load of bollocks from an excuse for a captain. Maybe some fans can be embarrassing and maybe some have never played football at any sort of decent level but I'll tell you what ALL fans can see when a team is playing good football and putting the effort in no one needs to know the intricacies of the game to see when a good team is working. If you had to have played the game to know when it was being played well the crowds watching would be very small the truth is most ordinary fans have seen through the likes of Doyle and the rest of the wankers wearing the red and white stripes and come to the conclusion they are stealing a wage, in short they are not fit to wear the shirts.

Doyle is old, Chappell is young and so is MacD. It's like saying "Heskey when he shoots and misses he gets booed, but when benetke misses he should get booed aswell but you guys cheer him:("

And I would of loved to of seen it

Problem is, I'm not sure if you're agreeing with me, questioning me or making a sarcastic comment?

Is the font size and bold writing important or accidental?

Doyle could do himself a massive favour and keep his mouth shut and his head down, especially after Saturday's disgraceful performance as captain of a team which capitulated to a relegated outfit.

Detractors and players alike could also do well to understand that by paying for tickets, they are the club's customers and if the product the club produces is less than satisfactory, the least they are allowed to do is offer criticism. The players, in turn as sportsmen can try to understand that short of flooding the club with letters of complaint which are hardly effective measures with which to register dissatisfaction, and hardly 'direct', if funnelled through the club secretariat, booing shit performance is to be expected as much as cheering good performance. I get heartily pissed off with people who cannot understand that football is a performance sport, played by enormously well-paid individuals compared to their followers (whose gate-fee contributes to that payment) who really need to fucking grow up and stand tall and accept the fact that we, the fee-paying fanbase, do not accept the level of effort and skill on display, and certainly being dicked by clubs who on paper are tactically weaker in both ability and output. If any of the club's defenders have a better and more effective way of expressing dissatisfaction, we'd like to hear it. And in Doyle's case, he is the team captain so anything that happens out on that pitch is his responsibility. It's what he gets paid for, by us.

As a team I think he's right. We haven't underachieved. We're a very poor team made up of very poor players, with the odd exception. I think Wilson had them playing above their level in terms of results, not performances. But, "sack the pig" they cried. "There's no passion". "They just don't try hard enough". "Run through brick walls". "Clap the fans". Now look, you couldn't ask for a more passionate man in charge and everything is going swimmingly, isn't it? No. We still have poor players playing badly, but now I'm no longer confident of us picking up wins away from home, or not conceding at home. Letting Wilson go without having a proper manager lined up was ludicrous.

As a club, not just the team, however, I agree. we have massively underachieved. This division has offered up the biggest shower of shit of football I have endured in my Blades watching life (I got my first season ticket in about 1997/98 or some time around then), and we have contributed toward that, but still picked up decent results along the way. In this regard, the players are achieving more than I'd expect looking at them as a bunch of individuals. I see a mid table squad occupying a play off spot. Thank you DW.

It's the very top of the club where the underachievement lies, but that's not really for Doyle to comment on. He and his teammates have overachieved as a unit.

not really overachieved, more been lucky. how many games, especially earlier in the season, have we been utter pish but scraped a win? any other year we wuldnt have got anywhere near the top 2. just the fact everybody else has been a bit crap too and us scraping a few lucky extra wins here and there have made it feel like weve done ok.

how many games, especially earlier in the season, have we been utter pish but scraped a win?

Sign of a good side that... *ahem*.

I know what you're saying though. We're really quite a rubbish team in a better position than we should be, in terms of talent at least.

I guess the measure of a winger is how many decent deliveries he makes to create chances.
Did he deliver any decent crosses?
If you come on with 20 to go and you are a winger and you don't deliver then it's one of three things.
1. you didn't get into the right position to receive the ball
2. your team mates are so shit that they couldn't find you with a half decent pass
3. you need to think of an alternative career

4. You are Nani.

Given the talent at their disposal respectively, I think most would agree that the biggest underachiever this season would be K Mac. Whether you think this is down to him or those around him is one for discussion, but he cannot be totally blameless.

Without a doubt. McDonald is undoubtedly one of the, if not the, most talented players on the books but he's not got the belief or drive to change the course of a game.

I would also imagine that he's not the kind of player who'd respond better to encouragement than criticism whereas Doyle strikes me as the other way around.

Some were almost suggesting that if we cross our fingers and hope really really hard, then we're sure to prevail.

Pretty much been happening all season Linz. Lost count of the times earlier in the season when, after a dull uninspiring, flat and downright boring, performance any criticism was taken as proof positive that we are all terminal moaners and everything was just on the point of turning around.

There comes a point when you actually do have to believe what you're watching and realise it's not a one off but is the real thing. We have been poor all season and it's only just occurred to some. Actually judging by the start of this "thread" it still hasn't sunk into everyone.

I find it absolutely incredible that, despite all evidence to the contrary, we can still get promoted. It would be the most undeserved and frankly amazing promotions we have ever had and I would laugh my nuts off.

One other thing, when I signed up for this site, it didn't say "if you love English tests, you will love this site:) "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Off-topic: No, but it is common courtesy and indeed, established netiquette*, that if contributors to a community such as this expect others to read and value what they say, they at least make the effort to communicate that point in standard English with the whole keyboard at their disposal. This is particularly pertinent on a site such as this which has posters and readers for whom English is not a first language.

TL; DR version: If someone can't be arsed to made themselves understand, why should someone be arsed to read it?

Itz all about not lukin lk a fick chav innt?

Thats beacuse the whole division is one steaming pile of crap and 3/4 of the division stinks more than we do....

The ironic thing about that sentence is that I have no idea what "TL" and "DR" are?

Can we avoid abbreiviations as well :-)

What concerns me is the drive he has, or has not got. As you say, he is clearly talented. But how many times this season has he shown it? If he can't dominate games at this level, he's no chance at Championship level. Does anyone think that a higher league club would want to come in for him if we are still a L1 club next season?

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see his career going anywhere but down unless he really applies himself to show off the qualities he has. There are countless players better than him who drift away because they didn't have the necessary dedication to succeed and improve. At 24, he really should have grasped that by now.

What a disgrace you are at times. Not all of you but the small minority that decided to chant wanker at the club captain we don't want you here.

Doyle is public enemy no. 2 around these parts (behind Forte) so what ever he does he gets slated for it. Yes the ball to the wing was poor but boo and hurl abuse etc was ridiculous. That was one of the only things Doyle did wrong last night. In a performance so poor all round he never stopped running and intercepting the balls trying to get us going. Doyle does his job but for some fans this isn't enough.

McDonald never gets knocked and he doesn't perform.

Chappell came on did a similar pass that was intercepted but he's young so they applaud his effort. Where's the difference?

Doyle is a bigger man than I am. I wouldn't have come over to shake the delinquents hand at the end.
That must have been doyles second decent performance of the season then ....... Face it, he's been poor and should have been dropped in October but dw was too loyal. That was one of dw's problems.

The new scapegoats are Doyle and Forte.

I thought Doyle and Robson did OK last night. The last 20 minutes Doyle was trying to drive the team forward, played some great passes and actually showed be cared.

MacDonald keeps getting defended by some fans saying he doesn't have the players in front of him. Last night there were times when he had 3 or 4 option and still either passed the ball out of play or to the opposition when under no pressure. He doesn't like to tackle and and times, clear bottles it . Not a murmer from the boo boys lat night in particular when he had a free header in the 2nd half in their box and he just stood and let the defender win it.

I would rather have someone who tries 100% every game in my team than a show pony who pays well 1 in 10 games who doesn't battle for the team and hides during games .

As for Forte, the slightest things, fans are on his back. He clearly lacks confidence at the moment but he didn't hide last night even when he made mistakes(take a note KMac) and the abuse he got was uncalled for.
Agree with some of what you say but not regarding forte ....... He is absolutely useless, of that there is no doubt !!!!!!

We were disappointed by the negativity pretty much as soon as the match started. The abuse Forte received was beyond belief and I actually spoke to someone next to me about getting behind the players!

Lots has been said about German football this week and of all the matches that I've been to over there the fans support until 90 mins despite the score or league position.

I know us blades can moan for England, but to abuse players on the scale I witnessed on Tues was pretty embarrassing.

Yes, but fans in Germany, with their model of fan ownership and balance of power, might feel like they have more of a say off-the-field meaning that at the game, they can concentrate on the game in hand.

Here, with hardly any say that seems to matter, the only fans' outlet to voice discontent with the product they're being served up is at the match.

Coupled with the availability of cheaper match tickets at even the highest level of the game, you might just have a more satisfied bunch all round.
