I'd have to disagree. Egan has been awful this season and at fault for most of the goals conceded at the start of the season with Anel. They've been woeful together.
Absolutely. The fact that him, Baldock, Norwood, Fleck are still starting games 3 years after it was obvious they weren't PL in standard, highlights the real issue.

Doesn't matter who the manager is if we're not evolving/developing players.

It's 2023 not 1983. Squads/players are fluid - look at Brentford/Brighton and how they bring players in and then either sell them or replace them. We've just stuck with the same core.

unfortunately to get decent new players in you need money which I am afraid we do not have
Who could we sell to bring funds in?

In fairness to him, look at Ireland's squad and pool of players they're picking from. This has been the weakest pot of players in nearly 30 years. There aren't even any decent quarter Irish lads from the Championship to call on. The fact that 50p head John Egan is captain speaks volumes about the lack of depth and quality.
They’ve a couple of decent U21’s the striker from Norwich , the defender where supposed to be after and a fucking monster up top who I think plays for Millwall there’s another who plays in Italy as well , first team has some mid range champ players Southamptons keeper who’s wank and a few aging prem players but Ireland are struggling to put out a half decent team

They've Euan Ferguson upfront too, the striker they've been lacking. The problem was always scoring. Defensively they've always been fairly strong at least pre Kenny era. I think the main factor has been Kenny. Awful manager.

We haven't improved defensively without him though.
That's hardly an argument though. We're losing 3-0 more often while we only losing 2-0 with him. That like having a whose poo smells the least competition. At the end of the day they're both a load of crap.

We've seen less goals unmarked from crosses since Anel and Egan were injured. But that's clutching at straws.

There putting a lot of pressure on him , he is a good baller though as he’s starting as a full international not underage
Kenny’s a twat did ok at LOI with Dundalk but not cut out for international football, unless giving Irish history lessons and playing rebel songs in the changing rooms at Wembley is your high point
Apparently Gus Poyet who said he wants the job - Steve Bruce ( rumour ) I’ll take any job for money are in the running to be the next manager

Got Lee Carsley written all over it hasnt it?

Wish we'd got 50p head Egan playing for us now. He's one of the four players in the club who's got the balls for a battle, the other three being Baldock, Basham and Robbo.

He has got the balls for a battle, but sadly not the legs, speed, tactical nous or positional ability for it

Since the confidence sapping 0-8 result, we have kept the oppo down to only scoring once on 2 occasions, collecting 4 points - neither of which featured Anel & Egan

If someone had said at the beginning of the season that Robbo and Trusty would be a better pairing than Anel & Egan, youd have laughed at them, but for me Robbo has been the most constant performer and one who never goes missing

Speaks a good game. Be quite interesting. Rose boot also talked a good game. Wilder and a team of football people could be a nice balance, although I think Wilder tactically shits all over Hecky.

Disagree about Baldock. He is one of the few that has any fight in him and if there’s 1 thing we need right now (other than a miracle) it’s fight and desire

Sadly even Baldock has lost the fight given the number of challenges he's pulled in recent matches. He had no fight in the first 15 seconds on Saturday which led to a goal. When Baldock has given up the fight you know it's game over.

I would be happy enough with this addition. He was a late developer who gained profile when playing for Blackburn. He and Glen Whelan got a lot of stick unfairly in the trappatoni years because we played defensively and the media were cheer leading for James McCarthy.
He is an intelligent enough bloke who has or had a business operating outside of football.
As for the Irish coaching ticket. Stephen Kenny was a bit too rigid in wanting to play a nice passing game when we really didn't have the players.

There are some players there and some coming through. As a club we need to be smarter in our scouting as Brighton have also picked up another prospect in addition to Ferguson.

I like how Wilder describes KA's appointment as being one to give a 'fresh voice'.

Let's hope he's able to have a positive impact and gets listened to.
