Chris Wilder is 45. He's been a manager since 2001. He has no fresh ideas. Mighty Oxford are not renewing his contract after 5 years of lower league mediocrity.

Played under is the telling line there. Its not a boss/employee isn't necessary a relationship where one has to think the other is a nice bloke. Plus in football everyone there is a lot of egos which can be upset by the boss not seeing things the same.

I agree, but none of that makes him or any other former player a candidate to manage our club!
 
I've talked to him about the blades job a few times and he knows he got to put more on his cv before can even be considered
 
Always liked CW as a player, indeed I believe our stupendous revival in 90/91 was as much to do with him being given a run at RB as it was the signing of Hodges, but that doesn't mean I'd like to see him as our manager.

Bladesness (now that's a word) is not, and will never be, a fundamental requirement of being our manager. Indeed, if anything, it should be one of the first exclusion factors.
When it comes to appointing someone, their track record OR their potential should be the key, not that we once enjoyed seeing them perform on the pitch.

Our three most successful managers of my lifetime (Harris, Porterfield and Bassett) had no "previous" and it didn't hold them back.
 
I am not on a wind up. He met with Blades bosses today, after being given permission by his current club, to speak to them late yesterday afternoon. There is no need for the abuse please, we all support the same club.

No. He appears from nowhere with a made-up story and then perpetuates it with further lies about a specific event that hasn't happened. Finally a rather cryptic "we all support the same club" without naming the said club. It has all the signs of pork to me. Even if I'm wrong, he's still a poor wind up merchant.

This. You do appear to be going for it a bit with this one and I can't quite see why.

I happen to think Wilder is a pretty likely choice for us, given the way we do things. I don't necessarily approve and I'm certainly not ITK, but I think it's a pretty realistic possibility.

He was playing golf at Hallowes yesterday afternoon so I don't know where you get your info from

Unless you are now a ghost Warnock must be included. Harris - 2 promotion, 1 fa cup semi-final, 1 relegation; Ian Porterfield 2 promotions; Dave Bassett 2 promotions, 2 relegations; Neil Warnock 1 promotion 2 cup semi-finals 1 relegation. On that basis its Porterfield, Harris, Warnock & Bassett:)

Steve Thompson
Adrian Heath
Gary Speed*

With the exception of Spackman, youy couldn't get a better list of mediocrity and failure.

* caretakers Coldwell and Morgan not included :). Neither is Steve Bruce as he was appointed as player manager so had not previously played for United.

Wilder has done nothing at all to make him a candidate to manage SUFC. He wouldn't get a mention if he wasn't a former player and rightly so. We have a bunch of supporters who can't think beyond their own back yard. It's ridiculous and embarrassing.

As for Mr. Leave. Have you stopped to wonder why a Blade of 30 years standing has joined the forum at a time when there is no shortage of issues, yet contributes on this single issue and absolutely nothing else?

He's a complete charlatan, mate. It's perfectly clear.
 
I never said he was the right man for the job, or anything like that. But I can see us going for a cheap option, a la Quickfix Mickey, and he would fit the bill.

I would imagine that he is only contributing on one issue, because that issue is the single issue that he is claiming to be ITK on. Isn't it just that simple? I mean, as wind ups go, it's a pretty crap one.

It will be interesting to see if our fellow Blade now has the appetite for wider Blades' chat. Or will he just Leave?

Hi yes I forgot Dave's Semi appearance. Mind United's performance at the Old Trafford semi was by far the best we have played.

I presume you mean Arse rather than Newcastle (which was another "no show" from the team). I can't argue with that.
I think we (Bassett more than anyone) made a huge mistake in getting the semi in '93 played at Wembley. We needed a tighter ground and smaller pitch in order to play the pigs and get up close and personal with Greasy Gloves Woods, who didn't seem to like playing against us around that time.

Oh yes the Arsenal game. Newcastle was another FWOT. The biggest excitement was the hoohaa from the bloke in front of me. He was given replacement tickets, and the holder of an identical set turned up!
