I mentioned before that our record per season is 20 in 81-82 and 83-84. We are on 19 at the moment, so a couple of 0-0 draws will see a new record :-)

We also equal the club record number of away wins in a season (12 81-82), if we win on Saturday.

We equalled a very impressive record last season, the highest number of wins in a season: 27 (same as in 81/82)

Unbelievable how we've made it so difficult for ourselves come the end of the last couple of seasons, isn't it ?

Didn't we also nearly break some kind of record for goals scored?

I wonder if we won the league this season we would break the record for winning a league with the least number of goals scored?

It was very, very impressive but not a record. 5th highest numbers of goals in a season behind:

102 goals in 42 25-26
97 goals in 42 in 52-53
94 goals in 46 81-82
93 goals in 46 88-89

Well done, the last time you did this was just before Stevenage. The FGs don't need any help you know

By the end of April we'll have played 8 league matches.

That has to be a record surely?

Quite astonishing that we are on the verge of breaking two very impressive records and yet we're all pissed off with the bastard blades.

Can't beat being a Blade, never a dull moment [outside the Sat 90 mins of course].

Don't you remember the winter of 63 ?

Might go for a replication of these results W4 D3 L1. Not sure if 15 points would be enough though

03 Apr 1963 Sheffield United v Manchester City W 3-1 League Division One
06 Apr 1963 West Bromwich Albion v Sheffield United W 1-2 League Division One
13 Apr 1963 Sheffield United v Arsenal D 3-3 League Division One
15 Apr 1963 Blackpool v Sheffield United L 3-1 League Division One
16 Apr 1963 Sheffield United v Blackpool D 0-0 League Division One
20 Apr 1963 Manchester United v Sheffield United D 1-1 League Division One
24 Apr 1963 Manchester City v Sheffield United W 1-3 League Division One
26 Apr 1963 Sheffield United v Leyton Orient W 2-0 League Division One

They still had 4 more games to play in May. This was after having played 8 games in March ! (3 cup ties including my first ever trip to the Lane Blades 3 Bolton 1)

Prior to that they played one game in January and one game in February

we dont need no fuckin scoreboard
we cant score a fuckin goal
no attacking play to speak of
our strikers leave your goal alone
hey! kitson! leave their goal alone!

all in all its just another nil nil draw!

Hands up who's off to the bookies every game from now on to bet on a 0-0...

The offside rules had changed in 1925 and it was difficult for the defences to get used to the change

Didn't know that. The change from "three opponents" to "two opponents" led to a 36% rise in goals per game that season !

Can we get the "one opponent" rule through before the end of the season ?

It's ridiculous how shit we are ;)

There is absolutely no chance of us winning his league.
I reckon we will get 2 points from the next 4 games :O

I think you're being a tad pessimistic there Ken.

I think we will have accrued 3 points within the next 52 hours.

We did 9 league games in March 1969

1/3 A Villa L1-3 (Tudor)
4/3 A Birmingham D2-2 (Woodward, Badger)
8/3 H Bristol City W2-1 (Tudor, Salmons)
11/3 H Cardiff D2-2 (Reece 2)
14/3 A Millwall L0-1

22/3 H Bolton W5-2 (Woodward 2, Buckley pen, Colquhoun, Badger)
25/3 A Charlton L1-2 (Woodward)
29/3 H Norwich W1-0 (Tudor)

Is 9 games a month a record? Have we ever played 10 in a month?

We played 9 games in March 84:

and another 9 in April 98

So, in 1963 they played 20 games in 75 days

League W8 D5 L4
Cup W2 L1

What are these modern ponces moaning about ?

Bring back Brian Richardson

I wonder what bookies odds are on tuesday night v crawley being another 0-0
I bet theyd be pretty long

after 3 0-0 draws in 70 71 we beat cardiff 5-1 then watford 3-0 didnt we
brentford coming is very similar to that tuesday night

bournemouth lost 5 on the bounce , now theyve won 5 on the bounce
consistant results are hard to come by

Rather win 1-1 then draw 0-0. Mainly because our goal difference is the same as Doncasters and we are 6 pionts behind so we could win the league on goals scored. So the record would be nice to beat but would rather win the league.

Aren't you forgetting something? We had a team that could score goals then!!

yes we are very solid at the back, but cant really hit a barn door upfront. its been a frustrating season in front of goal but high praise to the defense, esp young George long.
