For all of those out there that think we can compete with the
Arsenal/ Manure/Citee/Spurs etc
You are deluding yourselves
We may every now & then beat them , but as a club , finances and ability to entice world class players will never let that happen.
Wilder was on the path to breaking that mould, but finances kicked in.
Until FFP is properly adhered to , and VAR IS run by competent people sticking to the rule of ‘ clear & obvious error’ without favouring the top clubs, we will at best be bottom to middle of premier.
Losing to manure/Citee/Arsenal/Spurs etc is to be expected, with hopefully the odd win or draw, however.
Beating Luton/Burnley/Wolves/Bournemouth etc should be well within our grasp.
Realistically I’m still hopeful we can finish above17th or above, but going down (if that does happen) will leave us with a great squad to build upon, and like Burnley bounce back
UTB
Don't know a single person who thinks we can compete with Arsenal/ Manuu/ Citeee etc, that's would be stupid.
If we consider this team to be mid table Championship standard then agree we'll always lose against these sides with the rare draw or win.
Disagree with the criticism of VAR because in football there will always be 50/50 or 40/60 decisions.
You see it so often the panel of experts in the studio, even after looking at multiple angles in slow motion they still can't agree.
In these situations which ever team loses the decision, their fans always criticise VAR as being corrupt.
Doesn't help that even the manager negatively affected by the decision will say "definitely not a penalty", where as the manager who gains from the decisions will always say "definitely a penalty". Only last week Liverpool have a goal wrongly disallowed by VAR, are they not a top club?
The reality is that....the teams that dominate tend to be more involved in gaining contentious VAR decisions.
It was the same in the 90's when Man Utd always seemed to gain late penalties, thats because if they were chasing a win
in the last 15 minutes of every match the ball spent loads of time in the oppositions penalty area. So statistically more likely to gain late penalties.
You make a valid point in that we should ignore results against Liverpool, Spurs, Man C, Man Utd, Arsenal etc. Totally agree
Instead we should be focusing on performance against those clubs, the attitude, desire, organisation, confidence, even the ability to pass the ball 3 yards. Doesn't matter who the opposition is, still doesn't stop a team from giving their best and showing basic football ability.
You say beating Luton/ Bournmouth/ Wolves/ Burnley should be within our grasp.
However if you watch any of the Luton/ Bournmouth/ Wolves/ Burnley games they look much much better than us...giving full effort.
In fact based on what we've seen this season....we probably look closer to league 1 standard than Championship standard.
Also the things the manager can control, like pre match tactics, in game tactics, attitude of the players, desire, confidence have been poor.
Don't thing some people have grasped that we're on course to being one of the worse top flight teams ever.
Think of all the crap teams promoted from the Championship in the past with lesser quality players and no funds.
Teams like Carlisle 75, Swindon 94, Barnsley 98, Blackpool 11 etc. We're competing worse than this teams who all had lesser funds than us.
There are people making reasonable comments about Hecky's long list of excuses, which are all generally valid.
It's totally fair to say he's being asked to do a job with 1 arm tied behind his back.
My dissatification is if we accept his as valid, then why is he doing the job, like he's got 2 arms ties behind his back and also a leg cut off?
Warncock used to laugh in the face of adversity, Wilder would get angry and salty, where as Hecky has just given up.
The attitude/ outlook of a manager tends to transfer over to become the attitude of the players on the pitch and that's what we're seeing.
