He lost 2 from 4 in midfield. Flynn finished the season so really you could say needed to replace Williamson. I suppose he can't be blamed for not bringing in a right winger either?

He can be forgiven for not having the funds to replace Williamson and Quinn... and for their impact on the midfield this season.

Tell me, how has K-Mac played this season without Quinn or Willo? Even Doyle has been worse this season.

Don't you think we've enough already what with Grafik telling everyone what to think?

It's slightly more complicated than that. If Britain had gone under in 1940 or 1941 or if the US had never got involved then the Germans would have won.

Well, we will never know, but in a one on one battle between Hitler and Stalin between 1941 and 1945, my money would have been on the latter.

Depends. If he'd driven Britain to exit the war and turned against the USSR with his full weight and been able to keep it there he'd have won. Also, what would have happened if Japan had invaded the USSR in 1941 instead of bombing Pearl Harbor?

I once heard someone say that three things won World War Two for the allies; Soviet manpower, American industry, and British geography.

I dunno a country of, what, 60 million against a country of 200 million thats vastly larger than the former and where the former has to use resources to hold down an unwilling empire and where the latter has absolutely no compnuction about using its manpower in whatever manner it takes to win the war? I'm still with Stalin on this one.

By that standard you can't explain how the Germans ever got the outskirts of Moscow.

Isn't it the fact that Stalin stupidly refused to believe the Germans would attack and it consequently took some time to get his Soviet ass in gear?

Kmac has been shit because his outballs to the fullbacks has gone. I didn't bring in Tony 'can't cross the half way line' McMahaon. Its the tactics which are shit though to be honest. We have played this season like we ended the last.

Tony McMahon who was (and still is) viewed as a very good player by the supporters of his former club. Tony McMahon who we were all shocked and delighted by the signing of.

And full backs.... plural? I'll give you Lowton (sold beyond Wilson's control) but not the other side.

McDonald was one of the main reasons should have gone up last season. When Quinn, Willo and Lowton went... not to mention Evans, we also lost the best qualities of another midfielder who is still at the club.

And we can whinge about the replacements all we like; fact of the matter is that McMahon is the only one who is on anything like the previous incumbent.

What's that got to do with the battle of Kursk?

McMahon is a good player. However, he's not an attacking full back and that's what we need, particularly when we play without wingers. I'd have no issue with playing an out-and-out winger in the Matt Phillips mould in front of McMahon because he would cope defensively. However, playing Robson at right midfield with McMahon behind him almost guarantees that there will be next to no movement, pace or overlaps down the right side.

The only other thing which I have an issue with McMahon is his propensity for picking up yellow cards. How many of his 10 this season have been avoidable? I'd guess at least 7.

My problem with McMahon is like Hill. He doesn't overlap the winger to make space. Everyone can have a go at Flynn for example but when did he ever have a fullback pass him to make space. My 'whinge' is because it's these tactics which have made us sterile at home.
