well we normally grasp defeat from a winning position , this time we are on the rails with a lighter load
might be to our advantage

imagine sunderland fans thinking they were safe then getting di canio in as boss
even one of the boards resigned tonight

Last year I injected Roger Moore with a fatal dose of poison, inducing instant paralysis and subsequent death.

No-one has noticed, have they?

Roger Mortis. To be fair to him though he does star in one of my favourite films - The Man Who Haunted Himself.

During the last two weeks of the season, Danny Wilson is fired as the Blades are only second place in the table.
The chairman hastily appoints Gary Me6son as manager as we need somebody with close connections to the fans and club.
Me6son brings in stalwarts mel $telrland and Pee chapwan

I reckon the next 3 games will define our season. This is how I see the next week or so panning out (I think Tranmere are now well and truly out of the automatic race, given that they are now 2 points behind us with only 5 left to play and we have 3 games in hand, so I am not worrying about them).

In any sensible world, we should be beating Carlisle and Crawley at home and, if we pick up a point at Walsall, that will put us on 75.

In that period, Doncaster have 3 home games against Swindon, Tranmere and Carlise. I reckon they will draw with Swindon and win the other two, giving them 79 points.

Bournemouth have two home games against Scunthorpe and Notts Co. Lets assume they win both of those, that puts them on 76.

Brentford have away games against MK Dons and Coventry. I reckon they will draw the former and lose tha latter. That puts them on 71.

As well as the predicted draw at Doncaster, Swindon are away to Mk Dons. Thats their only other game. I reckon a draw there as well, giving them 70 points.

Thus, going into the home game v Swindon on the 13th, the table would be:

1. Doncaster: P43 pts 79
2. B'mth P43 pts 76
3. SUFC P41 pts 75
4. Brentford P41 pts 71
5. Swindon P42 pts 70

That to me puts us an extremely strong position. If we then go on to beat Swindon and Brentford, that will effectively knock them out of the race, and even, if Bournemouth win their fixture at Shrewsbury, that will put us 2 clear of them, with 3 for us to play and two for them.

The next Saturday sees us at Portsmouth (who are in fact already relegated now if we take their upcoming 10 point deduction into account) and Bournemouth are home to Carlisle. Wins for both seem likely. That sets us up nicely for clicning promotion at Crewe. Even if we mess up there we are home to nothing to play for Preston in the last game whilst Bournemouth at at probably needing points to clinch a play off place Tranmere.

I almost convinced myself there.....

And that is why the optimist in me has bought a ticket for Crewe. It could be a very big night for the Blades and if it is, I want to be there!

Clicning? Now there's a little known and unusual activity! I suspect it occurs in dimly lit Soho fleshpots.

Apart from the last game of the season needing us to win and someone else to lose: us winninig and the other team getting an equaliser in the 90th minute the real way they will shit on us will be:

3-0 up at Wembley and the North Koreans drop a nuke resulting in sirens going off to evacuate the stadium o_O

I am told Brentford have five away games out of their remaining seven? Hopefully, that should make things very difficult for them.

Make that 4

The other one will probably be a shoe in for them (the way we are currently performing at home that is)

I was thinking a similar thing about the Labour government that fell that summer (as I do) I think that our of the Cabinet of that government, Denis Healey is the only one left alive and he is 95!

The worst Chancellor prior to Osborne. A prized idiot.

In a moment of madness McCabe could sack Wilson with 5 games to play and install a player with no managerial experience as manager for the remaining games..

Nah, that's too far fetched

Still more chance of going up than sticking with Wilson

I suspect TFG will have already booked a fortnight in St Lucia in late May, safe in the knowledge we're doing just fine all by ourselves.

Of course we all know that come the end of the season when we've failed in the PO Final again, Superblade will rip his mask off to reveal.....

... He is The Footballing Gods!!!!!!!!!

Correction: Roy Mason and Tony Benn are also still alive, which makes 3 out of a cabinet of 23.

So what you're saying is that a group of mostly middle aged/old men have failed to live another 43 years?
Hold the front page!

My point is that it makes me feel very old. As does United having a manger 11 years younger than me :-(
