I'm hoping that if we can get 17 more points from the next 24 we will be up. The current table and the remaining games means:

Donny can get 90 points
Bournemouth can get 85
Brentford can get 91
Swindon can get 86
Blades can get 92

This assumes all the teams win their last games, which is not possible as Donny play Swindon and Brentford (last game of the season), Bournemouth have to play Tranmere but no one in the top 5, Brentford have 6 of the last 7 away and they have only won 6 away all season, Swindon have Donny and us.

The easiest looking run in appears to Bournemouth's but for them to get to 85 they would have to have a run of 9 wins on the trot which may not be that easy (they are 4 in to that run though).

So, in my opinion, if we can get 10 from the next 4 games we could be very close to the line.

if if's and but's were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry christmas!

it's just as much down to what everybody else does, as what we do. it's tighter than a nuns knickers up there!

Todays results mean its back in our hands, Lets just hope we can keep going. 92 points has to be the target

if we dont go up, we'll never go up. and its all down to being tightwads. will be a glorious chance thrown down the shitter. weve took an almighty gamble trying to run the team on a shoestring budget. not that were under pressure or owt! desperately need murphy back.

i think bournemouth will win it and they at 7/1 at the mo 2nd is there for us to grab but will we? i keep having nightmares that we lose to donny in the playoff final.

Bournemouth haven't a prayer. I'll give you 10/1.

Do you really think Bournemouth will finish above us?

bournemouth only have 5 games left. pretty much have to win the lot to win the league.

Get to 90 points and we will be up. There is no way on gods Green earth a team could hit 90 points in league one and not go up.
At present, for us, the "magic number" is 89. If Donny win all their next 5 games then they will be on 87 points, if Brentford win all their next 6 games (yes, winning at the Lane on 16th April) then they will be on 88 points. In the last game of the season Brentford play Doncaster then a draw means Donny finish on 88 points. If Donny win, then Brentford finish on 88 points

its a funny old game. we just need to take one game at a time. not get ahead of ourselves. its all about results at this time of the season. our next game is the most important. 3 points would be massive for us. carlisle wont make it easy for us. there are no easy games at this level. you cant expect teams to just roll over. as long as we do the right things we should be over the moon greavesie.

Sorry Warrington - just posted on another thread that I've been saying for a while that 85 points is what will be needed this year and then just read your thread. Great minds and all that!

Not too fussed about Bournemouth - played 3 more than us and only 2 points ahead (and, at the moment, a poorer GD). Brentford are the ones to watch.

That home record of Swindon is bonkers, they've managed to lose and draw more home games than us but they've got a plus 23 goal difference.

Is everyone just writing Doncaster off then, or is it only Pinchy? I'd rather have the points on the board, to be honest. Games in hand are worth nothing on their own.

I fancied Doncaster pre-season. They're in a very good position.

Shoestring budget???

Huge shoe, huge shoestring.

I remember last season when we had lots of games in hand, even t'pigs said we were promoted, but we managed to cock it up. Of course it's nice to have so many games in hand, but they still have to be won.
We can and should do it, another pay off final will see me off. COYRAWW.

Bournemouths run in is quite easy on paper. Think they will win the league personally. I still think Brentford might nick 2nd unless we can turn our home form around. Donny are a weird one as like us they dont convince but have enough experience you would think. They play Swindon on Monday.

The games with Brentford and Swindon are true 6 pointers.

It may all boil down to that trio of home games in a week. If we could get say 7 points from those 3 and win on Monday we could maybe afford a loss at Walsall as we would have 78 points going into the final week with 3 games to play v sides with nowt to play for Pompey, Crewe and Preston. We would need prob 2 wins from three to go up.

Certainly if we got say 5 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss that would do it you would think?

Cant see that happening and think we will lose a couple at least but it will come down to home form as we have 5 out of 8 at home; win all 5 of them and turn it around at the Lane and we are nearly there....

Bournemouth can only get 85 and I don't think they will win all of their remaining games. 6 away games out of 7 for Brentford is too tricky as I said earlier they have only won 6 away all season so it is still tricky to see them both getting close to 85. Also Brentford and Swindon both have to go the MK Dons which won't be easy.

I have been saying 83 is the magic number (for automatic promotion) all along and I stick that. 85 points will win the league.

In terms of United, it is 5 wins we need. Beating Brentford and Swindon would put us in a great position, but not losing and picking up points at other places could work out. I think we'll lose a few (for examplke Walsall away) so it is important that we beat Carlisle, Crawley, Pompey, Crewe and Preston. The teams with nowt to play for. Our last 8 games has seen us win 5, draw 2 and lose 1. That would see us go up, though we have a few tricky games in there. grinding out results, like yesterday, is the key for me. If we go up then it will be down to our excellent back 4 and some help from Doyle.

There'll be more twists and turns that the big dipper. Predicting who will go up and not is speculative and futile. Donny, Brentford, Swindon, us and Bournemouth copuld all win it and all have a great chance of automatic. It is way too close to call and it will go right down to the wire.

Blimey it's tight up there. Looking at the table and considering the remaining games all the challengers have I'm not sure I'd swap our position with any of the other teams, but then memories of last season kick in and send my grey matter into spasm. o_O

We got 90 last year and we all know which league we are in now
