And like i said it doesnt mean anything does it ?
There are still plenty on here who think the manager and team are shite and have been predicting a blow up all season and now theyve been proved wrong theyve moved on to next season
My opinion is that any one who couldnt see RND attributes and his value to tge team doesnt understand the game

But thats just my opinion.
No that is a supposition masquerading as an opinion !!

Read this thread through again. There are 1 or 2 that have minor criticisms of him, but in the main folk are raving about him.

He was a huge miss for us after October, the energy and aggression he brings would have been similar to Furious on the other side, in my opinion with a similar impact.
Do you think that he is good at crossing ? Has he been responsible for more than the odd goal by being wrongly placed when the opposition break ?
Has he the ability to accurately pass when under pressure ?

Defending wise and physicality wise RND beats Lowe hands down.

Attacking wise Lowe has been better in actual goals and assists per 90 and expected goals and assists per 90 in both the last 2 seasons.

That was not your point though, you said:

Not according to posters on here in October
I pointed out that most of the posters did rate him and those who did not rate him were in the minority which is a very clear fact.

I also pointed out that (like Baldock) he would bring some attributes to the table that would enhance the team. You have chosen to focus on his (in your opinion) weaknesses, that is your opinion.

I want him to do well, I thought that until he was injured he was outstanding and had improved hugely on his previous showings for us and he would have been an asset for us this season in an area which did cause us problems throughout the year. You have a different opinion, I respect that, but clearly I do not agree with it.

I think RND did most of his good work in the LCB position, before Robbo came in and made that position his own.

You've posted a video of hotels.com

3/10 must try harder
Thought I was watching RND but accidentky booked a long weekend in Solihull

Some pretty decent crosses in this clip

What that highlights is RND is our own Tommy Doyle type LWB and on the downside how many good crosses from the left we failed to get on target!

Understood. We clearly agree that both of us wish him to recover and do well for us.
If he turns into a decent LWB in the PL then I will have been wrong in my assessment, but pleased nevertheless as it would be to United’s benefit.
It will be interesting to see whether the Club brings in a new LWB and starts with what it has.

Personally hope we start with RND with Harry Boyes as back up and Lowe as 3rd option, won’t cost us anything from our mini budget

Are we seeing Rhys as left wing back or left centre back?

Obviously where we place him will determine who we go for in the window.

Good question. My take is Left Centre Back. Despite his lack of height, I thought RND really excelled in this position prior to his injury. His pace and tenacity is a huge asset here.

Rhys’ progress had been great, but I’m not sure whether he has the sufficient guile and creativity to play LWB at the highest level

Either way it will be wonderful to have him back and he could be just the warrior we need in the Prem.

Given his primary functions revolve around defending he has been a big miss. He was also looking much improved when steaming forward.
It isn't coincidence that most opposition attack down their right as they see the weakness defensively in Lowe and know JLT is prone to absolute howlers.
A fit RND would be akin to a good new signing. All my opinion obviously.

He looks equally comfortable in both positions for me. Our budget might mean that can't sign both a LCB and LWB, so I think we prioritise the latter (asI have doubts that Lowe can make the step up required) and then RND can compete with both Robbo and a new LWB for a starting place.

There is a reason why our best football came when he was fit. His reading of the game in possession and the fluidity of the overloads from both outside centre back positions. Clark and JLT have done well but they simply don't have the legs to offer much in this aspect.

I think he equipped himself very well and came out of his spell under both managers in credit. He's hard as nails so you know we aren't going to get dominated physically. Minimum 7/10 when he plays. Personally I'd play him LCB and bring in a signing at LWB. Big fan.

Much like Baldock - RND's athletisim and energy will be vital in the prem. Similar never say die attitude and a real battler. Lowe for all the nice bits of play and occasional decent crosses, never imposes himself physically on the winger and imo often looks a bit lost.

As another poster said - had RND been fit I think we'd have pushed Burnley much closer

Maybe because nobody knows yet. Just a thought.

But good news that he’s making progress.
12 months later it’s still unknown when he’ll play again… it isn’t the progress we’re hoping for in all honesty. I get we’ve been pretty damn unlucky at times with certain injuries but it seems we are a farce managing players’ fitness and wellbeing.

Neither of us has any idea whether that is actually the case or not.

I’m currently doing some work for the head of medical at a PL club & have a Teams meeting with him on Tuesday. I’m going to question him & will report back whatever I am able to on here. It will be interesting to get the views of a professional rather than the assumptions that get spouted by people who know nothing.

Anything you would like me to ask him?

Do hamstring injuries usually equal to a leg missing for a year?

I haven’t tried to “spout” anything. I don’t pretend to know the goings on at all, but I can’t recall in recent history under any manager and medical team where we’ve struggled so badly to get players back, or to even determine a return to training. It could well be just incredibly bad luck.

Ask him if he’s any good, if he is then ask him if he’s considered a career at Sheffield United.

You're not going mad, I think the same, but could it be that social media amplifies the problem when we have injured players, I remember Duffield breaking his leg, which kept him out for years, but he was a promising player, and one that didn't achieve what he should have consequently..

There would have been other injured players back then, we never acknowledged them as much, sort of out of sight, out of mind.

Note: I don't think Brewster is out of the woods just yet, but not rushing players back may be more a "duty of care" issue nowadays, possibly the player might have to sign off himself as fit to play now, everything will have changed from the days of "get yer boots on son" back in the day..
