Look at the league table from this stage last season http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-one/2011-2012/table/2012-02-22 Charlton had 69 points after 31 games!!! We had 62 and the Pigs 57. It's so tight this year and no one is convincing (with the possible exception of Bournemouth). If us, Brentford and Yeovil (wtf!?) were to win games in hand (though it will not work out like that with the way the fixtures pan out) then the top 7 would be seperated by 2 points!? Bizarre. Regardless, any of the top 6 could go up automatic, yet no bugger seems to want to!?

well hopefully the lads can build on this win, because now is the time to get started before someone else does. We looked home and hosed in feb last year before Wednesday went on that amazing run. That needs to be us, starting today

Think that puts us back on -4 compared to last season (-3.93 if I am right). Might need SellyOakBlade to confirm. However, we need to win the next 4 (Bury away, Colchester at home, Bournemouth away and Orient at home) just to maintain that minus 4 status. In fact, we beat Oldham at their place and MK Dons at home, so we need to win the next 6 to stay 4 points behind last season!? Go on a run like that and Grafikhaus' software will explode. The next 2 are very winnable, so we should aim to get those out of the way and go to Bournemouth with a bit of confidence. We need to get results against the top 6 teams in the latter part of this season.

I make it -3.25

Yes, thanks SellyOakBlade. I had got mixed up with the Coventry result (taking the away score of 1 instead of the home score of .25). So we are on minus 3.25, but that is bound to slip (I just cannot see us winning all the next 6) unless we go on a super run.

If (and its a big if) we do win the next 6, we'll be in a stonkingly good position, as we'd only need 17 points from 10 games to finish on 87...

I was thinking about this last night (whilst the wax was heating up) and I am with Olly and reckon that 83 points should be enough for at least second this seasn. That translates as W9 D5 L2 or W10 D2 L4 of our remaining 16 games. That looks quite a long shot to me given our form thus far.

Depends how you look at it. Our early season for would see us up (probably). Our first 16 games saw us win 8, draw 7 and lose 1. That would give us 31 points and a total 82. Working backwards from Christmas our performances got us W9, D4, lost 3. I realise that there is some crossover from games and an element of 'cherry picking' there, but if you exclude January's form then you can see we might have a chance. It just depends whether January was a blip or whether we got found out. It does seem unlikely on current form though and even if we put a decent run together. At Christmas we had 46 points from 25 games, meaning an average of 1.84. Multiply by 16 and you have 29 points. This would see us with 82. So basically, if we do start doing well again it is going to be mighty close.

The telling one will be how we do in the so called 6 pointers against the teams around us, win them and 83 may not be required

Still on -3.25, but a good win that. Let's hope that we can get back to the form of earlier in the season and push on into the top 2. It's so fucking tight at the top, it's incredible. 4 points separating the top 7 and any of those could feasibly finish top 2. It is in our hands though, as we play all of the top 7 (bar Donny). With Collins back we are solid again and we have a fully fit squad (bar Miler). Wilson has bought well, bringing in hungry players with pace and athleticism. I am starting to feel positive about things. I am sure United will find a way to fuck things up, but all of a sudden we are in with a great chance again.

Win the next five and we'll be on last year's track, all be clapping like seals, recommending Wilson for an OBE and McCabe a knighthood.:)

For the record...

McCabe gets his knighthood when we're established in the Premier League, the Kop is rebuilt, and he sorts me a season ticket next to Charlize Theron.

Charlton, Wendy and us got 90 points or more last season but I do not think that at the end of this season more than one club will get 90 or more points

It is not in our hands just yet we are just one of the chasing pack but yes we now have as good a chance as anyone.

It is in our hands as we have to play the teams in front apart from Doncaster. Therefore we can get 2nd place if we win all our games and Doncaster win all theirs

I'm sure Bournemouth, Tranmere and Swindon currently above us will be saying exactly the same, the thing is they can afford to draw with us but we need to win. Still pick any two from seven for auto no team will win every game.

Result of the season so far. Well done Blades. Not been so nervous listening to a game for a while!

10 more wins would certainly take us up maybe even 8 , , and miller apart all ready for action and no court cases pending, so even if someone commits murder , we can play him on bail
You thinking of bringing in Oscar Pistorius?
Douglas Bader might be a better bet, hes got more experience. :)
