Go all out for Archer. We have to. Forget Origi, his stats simply don't weigh up to the young lad that is Archer.

Promising news being shown on Twitter this morning about a new bid going in.. 🤞🏹

Not totally gone. We aren't exactly pressing the button on any of the other players yet. He is essentially number one target still. The fee was a lot closer than the media would let you believe and we are low balling Villa a bit in the hope that we get the deal we want. Potential it goes to the wire now and we get him in. 2 loan attacking midfielders probably arrive before then. Balde or Origi would blew the fee for Archer out of our reach and we will press the button on them if Archer ever becomes totally out of reach.
Presumably this is where a potential Jebbison departure would play a part - a decent fee brought in would allow us to pursue Origi or Baldé as well as Archer. It's a big game of chess.

That’s a very creative way to do a deal hats off to those involved if it’s true

Signing Origi on loan is just dead money, regardless how you look at it. If he gets injured, bye bye £5m straight away (wages)
Regardless of who we sign on loan, they will want paying. Anyone that we can get, that is out of reach to buy, has Premier league experience and significantly improves us, is likely to cost at least £50k per week, plus any loan fees. Even wages alone at this rate is £2.5m per year. So it's not really bye bye £5m, it's the difference of £2.5m or less.

You think AC Milan would give him to us without a loan fee and for half his wages? (because you are saying it's only £2.5m if 50k a week).

This is what I was referring to on the Rifleman’s thread. Always why we were holding off on pushing through the other striker deals as Rocket Man said.

Any ideas on the buy-back figure? Seems a lot of money to commit to limit the potential upside to the deal...
Happy with the signing though. Really rate Archer.

I‘ve heard it’s around the £20 million mark slightly more but we aren’t going to make a massive profit but if he’s shit and we go down I guess it’s a nice few million to help.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us after both archer and origi - regardless of the cost. I imagine Hecky’s view was that we could pick up Archer and Akpom to reignite their Boro partnership. This may be a plan b.

But they won't re-sign him if he's shit...

But it would be in installments right. Realistically no money may change hands until end of season (apart from on Villa's FFP paperwork which is what they're mostly concerned about)

Maybe there's a clause for "If Sheffield United win the World Cup then the buyback clause can be activated". Snooze you lose, Villa

Buy for 18m with a buyback of 20m? That is a shockingly bad deal.
If that's the case then we will have to see it as

  • We make 2m on him (wages prob balance that to £0) or minimum its a free loan.
  • Villa free up 2m in wages
  • Villa don't have egg on their face about losing a homegrown talent
  • villa satisfy fairplay rulings.

I'm mainly interested in (if);

- we stay up and villa can't have him back if he bangs 10 goals.

I should imagine so as most transfers are but I don’t know the full ins and outs of the agreed payment structures I never get that information.

You'd assume there would be 2 buy back clauses. One where if we stay up as well, just at a higher price.
