But Morgs, and I say this with as little rancour as possible, no matter what we did or do this window, you would find fault and have a face like you received an unexpected dry pegging that morning.

An unexpected dry pegging you say?
Sounds a pretty successful window to me.

In seriousness, selling Berge and bringing in Hamer is smart business.
Losing Ndiaye for small beer and not replacing him has been poor business.

I assure you, despite your view, I'm not contrary for the sake of it.
When it's good, I say. This window hasn't been well managed.

Dad, dad tell him dad. Some reyt wasters here. Honest if you take an Internet forum that serious you should get out more, or set your own site up, so you can bore everyone to death that either disagrees with you or says something that you don't like. What a laugh that would be. www.boringpompoustitcakes.co.uk

Couldn't agree more. That Scarebus is a right serious & troublesome cunt.

Link doesn't work either.

Can we keep this thread on track, more interested in what is happening with archer than some of your dreams and imagination

Sorry mum 😊

I was going to call it s24SeriousUsers.com or Onlyflans where we can bore each other with amateur baking.
Onlyflans would surely be offensive to any prospective Marseilles fans. In order to extend an olive branch to our cousins across the channel may I suggest cry more quiche instead

What would Archer's price be if he simply carried on scoring at a similar rate for a full championship season?

11 in 17 starts = 27 in 42 starts

Then add his assists;

6 in 17 starts = 15 in 42 starts

Combined;

27 goals and 15 assists in 42 starts

He'd be going for 25m, bare minimum
To add to my brilliant post from earlier, none of his goals were penalties - which makes those numbers/potential numbers even more impressive

I wouldn't let some shit that some Teenager said when they were leaving. Especially if that teenager was here during a pretty shitty time in our history, be the reason we didn't signed somebody

£18m is not a lot for a player to potentially score you the goals to keep you in the PL, or score the goals to get you back up in one of the subsequent seasons. I get that finances are tight etc, but not paying the fee to secure Archer feels pretty short sighted. Maybe it is given the Prince wants to sell. If we don't think he's worth that then why bother with him at all, because any striker scoring goals to make a material difference to the club's fortunes in the PL is defo worth £18m.

It won't then. They don't need to budge, Archer probably won't agitate to come to us because why would he? We'll turn to foreign loans or something.

Got a bad feeling in my gut about this one, currently villa aren’t budging and we aren’t increasing it’s a real stalemate. Boro and Leeds have now made offers and packages to archer worth more than we have.
If true, we really are not arsed of signing any forwards arent we. Losing targets to Ajax is more than fair enough but getting potentially outdone by boro etc for forward targets would be really bad optics for any future deals IMO. ⚔️ #SpendSumMoreMunnehPls

I'm amazed you're able to get this level of detail on our transfer business. I would've thought that even a poorly-run club would restrict this sort of information to a pretty small group of people. Single figures, maybe five or less. It would be impossible for someone in such a small group to leak so much inside information without being found out.

Getting Archer or not will probably determine whether this window is relatively successful, or a failure

If Boro and Leeds have offered more that really is poor

I feel we may regret spending 15m on Souza and Traore

Define successful?

Building a young strong squad on longer contracts for if we get relegated.

Or pay over the odds because of English tax and clubs knowing we're desperate on a player who wants to play premier league football but hasn't played premier league football before

Seems like sensible business to me...

Successful - replacing Ndiaye, and adding a number of other permanent signings of decent age and long term viability, without racking up a high net spend

Archer and Hamer between them would be an extremely good effort at replacing Ndiaye - and Berge

The bonus would be a couple of loan signings good enough to give us a chance of staying up

Achieve the above then the left side neglect is forgivable, although still likely costly

I'd be happy with Archer, but let's not get too sold on him being the only solution.

He's played 42 Championship games including play offs, has 18 goals and 10 assists.

The rest of his record at senior level is below Championship. It's impressive but it's a small sample size and he is favoured by recency bias.

Remember Emil Riis of Preston? He had a hot streak in 21/22, scored 20 goals across all competitions. He's not even getting a mention here!

Piroe has 46 goals in 95 games with 8 assists.

Morelos, yes I know he has shown ill-discipline before, but he has 175 goals over 350 games, an example of far greater sustained success.

Mikautadze has 68 goals and 14 assists in 118 matches.

There are of course others but there is always plenty of recency bias with these things.

If it's not to be today, we need to take time to get it right.

It isn't going to matter one iota who comes in for the City game as that is an L already, barring some water to wine miracle.

Needs to be ready for game 4, which is Everton.

Meanwhile, now would be a really good time for Osula to get his first senior hat-trick!
