yeah depends if the clause is like something they can trigger anytime (so we want to keep they want to buy him back) or its a guaranteed price for them if we do decide to sell
I think the Liverpool/Brewster deal was - we paid them £20m and then no earlier than after 3 seasons they could buy him back for £40m

I know buy backs are kinda new but have they ever actually been triggered? It's not just a case of, in this example, of villa rating him and wanting him back. If another club also want him and pay a set amount he's well within his rights to go. Of course villa might be not in need of a striker or have the funds when a massive bid comes in etc so I am not really sure what the fear from our side would be unless it was a tiny amount of money

It's not a loan as we have bought him and can sell him.
It's just that if we do (and it depends on wording of clause) Villa have first dibs if Archer is succesful, so we'll stiĺ make profit on him whilst he's been good for us on the pitch

"Buy-back clauses in transfer agreements are used primarily to give a selling club the security of being able to repurchase a promising player at a set fee should the player excel in the future."
That's all well and good but what about a sell back clause so if they're shit (Brewster ) you can sell them back at the same percentage decrease in price as the increase applied to the buyback

Xavi Simons this summer is a recent one

City did it with Angelino and then sold home again for a profit

The club have to ask themselves how much do we need this signing? The power is with the seller in this case and they will know how desperately short of attacking quality we are. i guess the other question is who else of this quality is out there who we could afford and would come.

They’ve accepted €15m including add ons

£15m including add ons, so probably something like £10m-£12m. Not too bad, maybe a little bit more than I’d like to pay but it’s what the market is

I think he meant they’ve accepted Lens offer of €15m not £15m from us

How many people on this thread know absolutely nothing ?

I would hazard a guess that all of them, including the ones who are hazarding a guess!
