Never thought Doyle was off the table

He's going to go somewhere by the end of the window. There doesn't seem to be anything concrete in the pipeline for him. In which case City will end up just loaning him out, which strongly favours us if we want him

Two questions;

Does Souza take up Doyle's position on the pitch?

Do we want McAtee or Palmer instead?

i dont think souza would take doyles spot he will just sit in front of our back 3 breaking the play up doyle is more of a box to box midfielder with a cracking shot on him i think hecky would like a midfield 3 of souza doyle and hamer with obrien probably still lined up as well

Doyle would be excellent next to Souza running things. He also delivers a fantastic dead ball, which we'll need.

H&C I want Doyle if its a permanent as I think we can build a side around him. However I'm not that keen on a loan. I think the loanees need to be flair players and would take one of Mcatee or Palmer and Archer or an equivalent on loan.

I'd like to think it'd be a loan with a view, and I'd also rather have Doyle here because it would ensure we'd at least be able to set up and function like we did towards the end of the season. No Doyle, and we have to start afresh, in the most unforgiving league, and hope it works. For that reason I think he's worth a loan spot if necessary. Be a big shame to have no McAtee or Palmer though

i would be very suprised if we got palmer now think that goal in the community shield was the worst thing that could have happened for us its allerted other prem clubs think we were lined up to get him and while i think mcatee is a long shot it certainly would help our case if we landed the likes of obrien hamer akpom and archer

LCM, RCM, AM, CF.

Where does Doyle fit?
I don't think he gives us what we need in any of those 4 roles.
Or are you playing with a double pivot and more of a front 3? In which case we need wide forwards.

I think Hecky had planned to pair Berge and Souza as a doube pivot, Souza the muscle, and Sander the quarterback. I think Doyle would play alongside Souza with an AM and two CFs, or 2 AMs and 1 CF ahead of them

This is one reason why I'm not too excited by Akpom/Archer. I think we can get by with the Strikers we have (McBurnie, Brewster, Jebbo, Traore, Osula).

What we need is creativity, Tillman would have been perfect, I hope they've got others up their sleeve because other than a City loan (Cole/Mcatee?) I don't know where its coming from.

If some of the rumours come off then I can see a formation tweak to two deeper midfielders providing the defensive shield and with two creatives off the striker. It would allow give us defensive solidity but also a bit of creative guile especially if we’re serious about the likes of Archer, Akpom and Palmer/Mcatee.
I don’t think it’ll be Doyle rather Hamer between the two, but that’s how I put the rumours together.
That’s if there’s any truth in them of course.
Throw in a free for someone like Davies then we’re looking like having a comparable side to the one we went up with but it assumes there is still a significant outlay coming.
