What you can’t seem to grasp is that whether we win, lose or draw on Saturday there is still another 37 matches.

No one has ever won the league after one match or been relegated either.
He suggested the business we've done is ambitious. It's actually very much the opposite.

We need every point we can get. Palace at home we should’ve been looking at getting off the mark with a positive result if we’d kept the squad together and added a little extra quality.

Now everyone feels flat, pissed off and expecting us to get pumped.

We shouldn’t just be writing the first few games off but we have done by having half a squad.

Do we now have the funds to at least get these 2 back for a season?
I'm sure we have.

We’re signing players for multi million pound fees on 3 or 4 year contracts. Wouldn’t it be prudent to make sure the players we are investing in are the right players and sound investments?

Personally I’d rather we take our time and get the best players possible. If that means we have to wait until deadline day, then so be it. It’s more important to get the right players than getting transfers done quickly.

These threads do get people excited. Anyway, all I have to say is...ahem...SIGN DOYLE NOW. I'm not saying he is the answer to our season but it would help. Oh and get Souza in too. We need a competitive midfield or we will go down. ...Just sayin!!!
One in and now get DOYLE. Don't care about Smallbone or Hamer, GET DOYLE. He is going to be a great player for someone this season, why not at his home away from home.

Not getting stressed but if this is ambitious God help us. Burnley signed 8 players and ready for Friday night. We have signed 4 and no where near ready for Saturday.
Burnley pissed the league and have a much better set of connections than us. Without actually knowing, I'd imagine their owners have a lot more money to piss away too.

What about Luton?

Best to just give it some time, then moan when the window closes, coz nothing anyone says on here will change it.

I fully understand that and actually I am usually all for being patient and making the right choices. Especially for the loans, I can see why the best quality becomes available towards the end of the window when big teams like city finalise their squads for the season

This summer just feels different. We take weeks to do anything. Hecky provided his list of targets weeks and weeks ago now and we’ve still got gaping holes in the squad.

We’d have had holes even now if we had not just sold our best two players.

Usually we would have a squad capable of winning games at the level we are going to be playing at by the time the first game comes around and we’d just need to add a couple of finishing touches. We literally are a laughing stock and a shit show at this point. It’s embarrassing. I am very much usually a positive blade who looks forward to matches as a day out with the lads. I’ve been supportive of the Prince too but this season has just got me flat and devoid of any excitement.

We’re now without the 4 most important players from the final 3rd of our promotion season. No fit senior striker.

Who's to say Burnley will be ok, hard massive names they're signing, Kompany had it all his own way last season, this will be a test of his managerial skills, lose a few games and the pressures on, fans get on his back and who knows

doyle hamer and obrien on permanents palmer and archer on loans what a lift for our fanbase if these 5 came in cmon princey speculate a bit and lets have a crack at staying in the premier league

What if the 8 players are unsuccessful or fail to gel as a team. Then what? Burnley are as far away, as an example, I'd like United to be, as you can get. They will be in an absolute mess quite quickly.

They might loose Friday but think they will do better than you think. Can see them finish quite comfortably mid table

At least their fans will know they tried. They are going into the season with a stronger squad than last year. Whereas with us, so far, it feels like we are going for a seasons visit and that we are already preparing for relegation.

And what if they do gel and are successful ? They may lay foundations for a long stay in the PL

If we reinvest the Ndiaye and Berge money into say Hamer and Akprom then that's fine but if this is just asset stripping the nay sayers will be right

know weve been slow with replacements but i still expect a minimum of 4 more to come in before the end of the window lets compare the 2 squads then im sure ours will look a lot better then

Agreed it will but we play 3 relegation rivals before then so it would be nice to have a full strength squad before the end of the window

it would be yeah but of the 4 weve already signed 3 of them go straight in to the starting line up oh possibly make it 5 forgot about traore we need another 5 in i think and 3 of those 5 also have to be starters

Saying it now, both of these (or at least Mcatee) will go West Ham as part of a Cash+Player deal for Paqueta

Absolutely agree.

At present though I'm finding it hard to see more than one of those at best.

Be nice to feel pleasantly surprised or even amazed.
