All the usual JTW elements are falling into place!

- sold a good player - check
- for an undisclosed fee - check
- sold before anyone came in - check
- it's the last day of the window - check

All we need now is:

- no/disappointing recruitment today
- an announcement that (a) Blackman's replacement is already at the club and/or (b) we tried to get a replacement but there was no one better than what we already had
- the usual 3 to 4 place slide by the end of the season, (see also 1998, 1999 (deadline day sales there) 2004, 2010 and 2011, with 2009 being an honourable exception)

I predicted facetiously in the close season that in 2 years' time we would end up being out-manouevered by Southend or someone similar in the League 2 playoff final. Barring genuine improvements today, I am concerned that this prediction will come true.

Don't forget:

"we couldn't stand in the players way" - 'Yes you can. He is under contract

"the offer was too good to refuse" - But why is it undisclosed? In offer words, United have accepted a bid (lower than a million) less than Palace was offering and have made it undisclosed to stop us fans from knowing what they paid us.

In other words. It's the Blades way

Totally Agree - but then when you have Kevin McCabe in charge, a weak board of directors, a weak manager and crowds of 18,000 plus watching dire pub league football what do you expect?
When are the fans of Sheffield United FC going to say enough is enough, we have sat back and watched management continually sell off our best players, promise the earth and deliver nothing!
But you can bet your shirt on a reasonable attendance on Friday night v Coventry whether we manage to sign anybody before tonights deadline - they know that - McCabe tells lies after lies and we fall for it!
When I was a kid we sold our best two forwards Jones and Birchanall - now fifty years later we are still doing it ! (albeit Blackman is not in the same street ability wise as those two)
Same Sh!t Different Day as they say!

You know this for a fact, do you? Can you tell us exactly how much it was?

Yes, I think most players would accept having to stay at a new club for one full season before getting unhappy about offers being rejected. If we think we can improve the team more by spending the money on other players, why not be honest and say so?

That's the point. One of the teams would have insisted that the fee should be undisclosed, I can't see Reading having a problem telling their fans how much a player cost, which leaves KM trying to hid the fee from us.

So "no" then.

Have you not been listening to DW all season? I'll quote "Unfortunately, we can't bring anybody in until someone leaves"

So there will be no excuses today then? Did you not hear the Kevin interview on Saturday where he said there was money available even if Blackman stayed? Let's hope the extra money means extra quality looking at the shite triallists we brought in

That isn't actually true though is it?

Have we signed anyone from the moment Kevin opened his mouth on Saturday saying there was money to when Blackman left last night. Hopefully you know and these great transfers are under wraps but I hope you're not using the Murphy deal considering what has been said this week

The Usual JTW?

- Signed Murphy and Higgo in early Jan - Check
- Sold a good player before midnight on the last day - Check
- Sent Wilson out to buy a new Fax Machine - Check
- Lined up 2-3 signings on the last day - Check
- Lost the FA Fax number - Check

The undisclosed Fee thing has added benefits. Why does everyone need to know how much we got for Blackman? Doesn't it put us in a poor position to buy if we declare that we got £20,000 and a set of tracksuits from Reading?

I don't think it really matters Swiss to be fair mate. Could have got £10m for him.

I was desperate for a right winger before Blackman left and my only concern seems to be now is that my seat is a bit too close to Kev's for comfort! Who's comfort, I am not sure!

I am wondering whether we are going to hit the Scottish market again for Niall McGinn (striker) and David Wotherspoon (right winger)

Then why hid the fee? If there is nothing to hid, then tell us

But that would mean telling the truth and KM doesn't do that.

Tell me one good reason why you feel that you need to know the fee. If you bought an expensive car would you drive around with the price on the bonnet just to brag.

But what you're doing is reacting to assumptions though, right?

You can try and be clever with him, however I feel these are not really assumptions considering what has happened previously. I would like to state that this is the first time I have turned on Kev and although it feels wrong it also feels like the big bad uncle who needs to be told :(

Where is the fans mouth piece John Garret no doubt in a bunker somewhere in S2 with his tin hat on. Undislosed fee my arse strange how a good figure (in this case £1.2m ) is always leaked to the press  just more smoke and mirrors helped by ................
You know this for a fact, do you? Can you tell us exactly how much it was?
Do you know otherwise as a matter of FACT ? still McCabe will be happy while the fans squabble among themselves they don't give him a hard time.

Care to tell us who has come in that is a replacement for Blackman ?

Spot on Rev.

Absolutely spot on Sheffielder, rather than worry about a fee, we need to look at these players coming in that McCabe promised us at the start of the week. Remember these signings were irrespective of Blackman leaving.

Telling the world we got say 1.5mil means the world knows we have 1.5mil to spend (not in reality)
What were you lot saying when Palace came for him ? "they got 15mil for Zaha so we should be asking more for Blackman".

What I will say is if we dont bring anyone of note in ie not the trial players then I am going to think long and hard about renewing my season ticket. Not that the club will be bothered

Okay, apologies all, we clearly haven't signed anyone this January then, because I'm not allowed to "use" them as examples of signings.

No apologies needed Foxy, I think most people are talking about from the moment Kevin said there was money for signings on Saturday, then losing Blackman for £1m plus and at the same time we were trialling other teams youngsters

No Foxy answer the question who is the replacement for Blackman is it Murphy or Higginbottom

Any indication of how this has affected the share price? Will it enable us to purchase some real estate in Eastern Europe? I think if so, then it's not a bad deal.

There's me, responding as if someone was suggesting it was a typical JTW, you know, that started earlier than yesterday :-)

Evasive as ever Foxy ever thought of going into politics ? an answer straight from the McCabe school of smoke and mirrors.

I didn't suggest either of them were a replacement for Blackman did I? Merely said that we'd signed players this JTW.

The closest of the two is obviously Murphy, that doesn't mean I consider him a direct replacement though.

we were trialling other teams youngsters

It should be pointed out that those other teams youngsters were from two divisions above us...

Didn't Blackman start the season as a striker? And didn't we get him in before Kitson?

What was Blackman, a winger or a striker?

My personal view is that we have plenty of "big strikers" for this division in Kitson, Cresswell and Porter, they all need a kick up the backside though. Blackman was the most mobile and most capable of the 5 big strikers (Including Cofie)we had, so when we tried to fit players in, Blackman got shoved out to the wing allowing Porter and Miller to form a brief partnership

Personally I thought he played better on the wing though.

So the possible replacements already at the club could be
Kitson - Striker
Murphy - Winger

No. But then I'm not the one acting like a spoilt child over something I don't know the full facts about.
