That means Blackman is gone then.

I guess were tieing up the other transfers first?
I think there is more in than Palace interested in Blackman.
I can't see him staying but who knows at this stage.

What I'd like to know is where it's been clarified that this is a McCabe decsion not Wilsons.
Has Wilson said he is being sold against his wishes?
From a managerial point of few a couple of million for a player who cost nothing in the summer, and is being played out of position, is a logic you can follow. He gets to bring a few in, has a young academy player who can come into Blackmans position, in tight economic times is it not a sensible move to make?

Agree with that, but £2m? Really?

Managers who willingly risk selling their best player on the basis they can then succeed in the transfer market are few and brave. Especially in January. A Sheffield United manager's motto ought to be "a bird in the hand...".

I can;t believe it's 2 million, would have to snap their hands off. I think Holloway would be able to get the best out of Blackman as one of his outside forwards in his 4-3-3. Doesn';t have the discipline for right midfield and not really a centre forward I would trust. He could make a Tom Ince style player out of him

You think Blackman is worth more than 2 million?

How many league one players have moved for that price and is Blackman being under valued?

Just to add some spice...
Nick Blackman has rejected a move to Crystal Palace after Sheffield United accepted a fee of more than £1.2million.
Palace had an initial bid of £700,000 turned down by the Blades last week but returned a few days later with a greatly improved offer with coffers boosted by the sale of Wilfried Zaha to Manchester United for £15m.
Blackman, who only moved to Bramall Lane from Blackburn last summer, turned down the chance to speak to the south London club and played for Sheffield United in yesterday's FA Cup fourth round defeat at Reading.

Happy: Sheffield United's Nick Blackman (left) rejected a move to Crystal Palace
He is not desperate to leave the League One team as they press for promotion but other clubs have been monitoring his good form and he could find it hard to refuse an approach from a team in the Barclays Premier League now he knows the Blades are prepared to cash in.

Tom Ince who's in demand this transfer window. Both them and Palace could be cash rich this week.

£1.2 million. Make it 1.5 and you have a deal....If I was Danny I would say to Kevin to go with the deal but only when we have brought 3 quality (for this division) players in

Well according to the article, Kevin has already gone with the deal. It's the player that hasn't

Interesting wording... be interesting to see the outcome. Its always assumed just because a player is playing in a lower division, at least when they are our players, that every move is the golden goose coupled with a dream move. My guess is, if Blackman wants to stay, he'll be sold regardless

There's no way McCabe will turn down 1.5 million for this lad. As puppet said, he'll be sold regardless. Shame really if this turns out to be the case. It's not often nowadays a player wants to stay over the chairman's wishes.

Holding out for a better deal I'd say.

If he wants to stay there is nothing Evil Kev can do so he'll definitely be here come Feb 1st.

I suspect he won't be.

well what can i add to this topic that hasnt already been said? get used to it while ever we are in this division we are losing money and the sale of our "better" players is inevitable. we are a selling club! and any future players that do well will also be "for sale" and you lot had better get used to it. maguire will leave in the summer for sure and i for one wouldnt be surprised, sad but true. Blackman isnt that good in my opinion but his goals have got him noticed so an offer is made and away he goes, f*ck the supporters eh? what did we do to deserve the way we are treat by our beloved football club? 3rd tier football, ex pig as manager and a chairman from hell and still somehow getting 17k-19k inside the lane? rant over (a disgruntled blade)

If its true that blackman is staying then thats good news, lets hope we start banging the goals in.
Were desperate for a win,and are overdue giving someone a good hiding.

Whichever division we are in we will sell our better players, it is what Sheffield United do.
what did we do to deserve the way we are treat by our beloved football club? simple most fans fall for the same trick every season by listening to McWobble gobs promises when in fact it is just more hot air. Once you have shelled out for your season tickets he then sells a young academy product and the cycle goes on and on and on but you never learn, while he gets 18,000 through the gates each week he doesn't give a flying one about the fans. While ever fans turn up in number the club will screw them over.

"Hey - when Crystal Palace come calling, who am I to stand in the way"

I think it's time the fans turned the heat up on him. There's nothing we can do in real terms, but he should be made aware of how much he's becoming hated, and that the masses are well aware of his complete mis management.

I suspect that Blackman would want assurances that he will be playing week in week out in the first team. He gets the games where he is and would want to continue being first choice if he moves. He has already spent a good deal of his career on the bench or on loan and at 23 he probably feels he needs to be playing regularly. If a club comes in for him and guarantees he will be in the first team sqaud then he will be off. We will take the money and he will want to go.

On this sitation of 2 new players coming in early next week which Foxy alluded to - that can surely only happen if people leave becuase we have to work within the 65% salary cap. It has to be a significant earner as well cos if we were near to the limit before then just releasing Philiskirk isn't going to leave much room to manouvre.

Another joke - Sheffield United roll over at the first whiff of any cash, yet the player can't agree terms.

:(

Putting newspapers aside. can you think of another explanation for, from McCabe's own mouth;

"I hope he stays".

?

Could Blackman have only agreed to join us with a release clause in his contract - one that's been activated with Palace's last bid?
