spot on Alco. I was having doubts already, but it appears the club are accepting that we are not going to get promoted. Wilson loves the 3rd tier (10 seasons and counting and still only got one team out of it ..... MK Dons relegated) so he'll be chuffed. Personally I am sick of this shite division, but looks like I need to get used to at least another year. Ah well, I have not visited London Road before, so that is a new ground. And surely at least one of Gillingham, Northampton and Cheltnham will come up. Maybe get a trip to New York, drink some real ale in Burton or go and see Ale House Micky in that shithole. All new stadiums fo Olle. Silvers linings and all that.
Kempy is right about this one. We would be mid table without Blackman in the team. Without his dozen or so goals then we would be mid table, that is not to mention the ones he has created. He has scored several crucial goals that have got us points. Anybody who thinks we will use the money wisely and replace him with a pacey, talented winger is a buffoon. Murphy will play out wide and Cresswell up top or sumrt else gash.
It is a bit like when we got relegated in 2011. It was so slow and painful, I was not upset at the end. I saw it coming miles off. At least now I can start preparing mi sen. We are not going up this year. I can forget about results, maybe enjoy the odd game and have a few beers etc. However I can prepare myself now for another season in the third tier.

Well, nothing's happened yet and we don't know (but suspect) who may or may not come. But if he goes without decent replacement, at least it's not a slow and painful end. It was slow and painful before, now it's ended. There's nothing like enough quality left to push on.

If Blackman does go / is sold, it proves one of two things.
1) KM doesn't care about winning promotion and is happy for us to stay in this league.
Or
2) KM is truly delusional if he believes this squad if good enough (also like in our relegation year) to go up.
The only good thing about this is that Wilson could walk or he is another day / step closer to being sacked.

Very disappointing news thought we were supposed to be building a young team , whoever some on here should take a look at themselves after slating the young lad showpony , greedy , etc etc , is porter going an all ? Which young quick striker midfielder winger ??? Is in the frame . After 40 years followin this club you think I'd know better , and i'll say it tonne and phillie are not the answer. I know people think me a clapper but I ain't a happy bunny, better be a couple a good un's brought in .

We shouldnt sell any player without having a replacement lined up.
If he goes & we dont replace then we can forget about promotion.

Jon Taylor, Right-footed right midfield, seen him play in the FA Cup and according to friends (not saying there the most honest bunch) he is a quick and skillful-ish player.... and please do tell me about the outstanding performances Blackman has actually put in in the last few months. He looks too disinterested on the right. Not saying he SHOULD go either, there were rumors and if they are true then we should go for Taylor and his contract runs out in the summer... younger than Blackman too

Not a lot in all honestly I think his goal tally flatters him as many if not most have come from penaltys. He's quite greedy with the ball and often ends up taking long shots that end up halfway up the kop. So I we get around 2 million for him I would be very happy as i doubt we payed anywhere near that for him,

His weaknesses could be coached out. He has abilities very few if any of our players have. The money's important, but to us it means we will be "£48M" in debt rather than "£50M".
I've defended most sales because they are inevitable after McCabe's gross mismanagement. But not this sale in January. This is just rubbish.
Shame on you McCabe.

I'm assuming this is because I've seen so much of Nick Blackman and because I've got him a 30/1 to be top scorer and not because of your incorrect assumption that I "defend" every potential transfer dealing.
As always, rather than reacting and flailing wildly at any potential move, I'll wait to see what actually happens overall before commenting.
At this point in time, I'd rather we kept him from a pace, technique and confidence (though that is eroding) point of view, but it depends what we are going to get and more importantly what we do with it.

In Blackman we had a raw talent he had pace,good control, strength main attributes of a promising striker we could have developed these and had a 20 goals plus striker.
