Ali Maxwell from the brilliant Not the Top 20 pod was a guest on another show today evaluating ours, Luton's and Burnley's prospects next season. He mentioned his 'sources' have said we are signing a midfield from Espanol (admittedly, it's probably just the Danny Hall tweet).

He also said Iliman is Champions League quality and will move from Marseille to PSG in 2 years.

So what were his views on the promoted teams prospects?

We're a bit of a mess off the pitch with ownership issues and now bit of a mess on it with Ndiaye going. Luton are recruiting sensibly and will finish above us. Didn't listen to Burnley, but probably Champions League.

We're way weaker than last season and have nowhere near enough goals in our side.

I have confidence in Trusty, Egan, Anel, Baldock & Berge making the step up.
That leaves a lot of gaps.

With Ndiaye, we had an ace in the pack. A punchers chance of taking 3 points in a tight game. Without him...

As it stands, we're certs to not only go down but finish bottom.
A lot needs to happen between now & the window closing.

We're short at the top of the field, but that's clearly where our recruitment is focussed. I'd predict us to start well defensively but struggle for goals until we manage to get the attacking options through the door and up to speed. That's unless one of the young 'uns makes a cracking start.

There was a rumour when we were playing Girona that a potential signing was pitch side watching. I think that being Souza is people seeing that he plays for a team in the City group and putting 2 and 2 together.

The link to Souza was put out by local press, not Darren Smith or any of the you tubers. After the story was released by the press, it was then confirmed by those on Twitter/ YouTube that they were aware that we are interested in him but didn't break the news to avoid it having impact on the deal.

He’s very defensively focused.

I think he’d be a great signing as we’ve lacked a big ball winning shithouse for years.

He’d probably play either between sander and anis or next to sander in a double pivot with 3 attackers.

We also lack forward players as well but it would be daft not to get someone like this in as well. Norwood would be run all over being our most defensive midfielder.

We need numbers not just 1/2 attackers in. It’ll be this lad as well as attackers not instead of.

were also crying out for a strong physical defensive midfielder all premier league teams have a player in this mould in their starting 11 i think if this guy comes in plus the signing of trusty would give us a solid defensive base just need 2 more midfielders 2 more strikers and a keeper to challenge wes and were sorted

spot on norwood osborn and fleck are way too lightweight for the modern premier league this will definetly be their last season with us and may well not last past january

I’ll panic when the windows shut.

I think Hecky and the recruitment team will pull a few decent and unexpected signings out their hat and we’ll end up stronger than we thought.

The longer he’s with us the more I like him, the more I reckon he’s getting better and is putting the graft in with his team behind the scenes
