Just making a note of this here as a pointer to see how much it moves if/when this becomes official, i.e. how much money the club has immediately set on fire by selling

The writing was on the wall the moment the agent started playing silly buggers and wanted to lowball us on the release clause. I genuinely believe the player wanted to sign a contract but he has been influenced by his agent who no doubt will now make a killing on the transfer fee. He I suspect was the middle man who was feeding OM information. He was the one who wanted to keep the release clause so low that OM could come in next summer for a knock down price.

There was no way the Club was going to invest in offering a 3 year contract, wages in the region of £50k a week and allow him to leave for a sum less than the value of a 1 year contract. The whole idea behind offering a new contract is to enhance the value of the player not decrease it.

We are in such a poor financial state that we didn't have the luxury of allowing him to run his contract down so the only option was to sell when it became clear the agent was not budging, no doubt influenced by OM. I really hope that we have secured a deal that allows for significant add ons. The reference to £14.6 million, if accurate, plus bonuses gives some hope that those bonuses take the total fee nearer £20 million with a significant sell on clause in the region of 25%, I live in hope.

What this episode does is call into question once again how the club is structured off the field. Ndiaye is the first of many who are in the final year of their contract which begs the question why has this been allowed to happen. The club is lumbering along expecting Bettis to plate spin and deal with all issues off the field when there is desperate need to bring in a Sporting Director to deal with contractual matters. A role that can be paid for by reducing consultancy fees to United
World. Not going to happen though as we remain in sale limbo.

A big test now for the Prince. He has sold his most valuable playing asset which will in the short term impact on the Clubs value. Reinvesting every penny from the sale in new players that could bring us a much needed LCB, LM, LAM and
forward would take away some of the growing anger amongst the fan base at this sale and that needs to happen quickly.

How the Club responds to this will be interesting. Simply allowing an accountant or selected local media to feed out strap lines isn't required now and will misjudge the growing mood of resentment at this sale. Time to raise heads above parapets and give some hope that there is a plan and strategy for the coming season.

Why dont you tell us ?
Weve all had enough of the cryptic bollox on this forum
Because he hasn't got a clue. Illy has done nothing wrong. We could have made him stay. Full stop. he's just trying to convince posters he has credibility and by making stupid posts like he has satisfies a very sad need for attention. He's never once answered a straight question. Just ignores them.

No, it’s £14.6 according to Marseille.

Why would you guess that?
They haven't said what the figure is. It is only social media rumour.
Why would you believe those posts rather than those that say the fee is higher ?

On this occasion they'd be wise to keep it undisclosed if some of these fucking numbers
are true.
Doesn't matter the fans know the owner/board are absolutely clueless and just lost the confidence of the majority of the fan base.

This is one of the most clueless decisions in the history of our club for the sake of peanuts in terms of Premier league fees.

Only the owners of Sheffield United could do something like this.

Because this is peak Sheffield United this is what we do.

We pull the rug from under the management team who have worked wonders and completely destroy the feel good factor around the club from promotion.

I have never known a club repeatedly make as many f*ck ups as our club.

Illiman Ndiaye brings flair and brings something that no one else can do we won't get anyone even close to Illiman level therefore we are even weaker than before.

No doubt we will sign some absolute whopper like a Craig Beattie who couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo.

Fans of our club don't ask for much and get again we have been shit on from a great height and don't learn and that is what is so infuriating because Hecky has surpassed anything we thought possible and now is having the rug pulled from under him.

The Prince and co are just another in a long list of short sighted owners.

Lot of angst towards the club, but there are 2 potential scenarios here

1- the club want to cash in, have been touting him around loads of clubs, removing him from friendlies to avert injury and haven’t offered him a new contract

2- he’s always wanted to go to OM. The club have offered him the biggest contract in our history having rebuffed bids in January, but this is different as IN wants this move. Having refused to sign the contract and told of his desire to move, the club have to secure the best fee they can, someone is only worth what someone is willing to pay. We sell as despite many thinking the contrary, you cannot force a player to play for 12 months at 100%, with no guarantee he will keep us up

These 2 won’t sign so will be sold, even tho their clubs can well afford to hold them better than we can- Kane & Mbappe

These were vital to their teams success, yet were allowed to leave once they made their feelings clear - Mahrez,Henderson, Mac Allister

These are wanted by their clubs, but may force a transfer - walker, caicedo

Some on here need to stop been entitled and accept it’s the game

Do you think he is talking about the Vichy french who sent thousands of Jews to the Nazi death camps (often before being asked too). ;-)
He probably wasn’t talking about all those common or garden French who looked after, hid and saved thousands and thousands of Jews from the Nazis and Petain’s mob.

Then again, it all depends on the history you read …………. and believe.

Sorry been busy with looking after toddler rocket. He's signing. 3 year deal. Progress has been made. There isn't anything to dove tail on with Nicko. 3 years. We are ALMOST there.
Absolutely spot on,trouble is he forgot to say the 3year deal was with Marseille !!!

Oh stop with the defiant talk and puffing your chest out with the no surrender diatribe.

The anger is nothing to do with that, if you sit idly by and accept the shit that’s happening then all that happens is you will continue to be blindly shit upon.

Our owner has only one ambition…to sell the club for whatever he can as soon as he can while costing him as little as possible. If he says a easy come easy go attitude to us selling the best player and best hope of staying up with 2 weeks to go I fail to be convinced he will merrily step up and find a viable alternative plan to secure the same chance we thought we had yesterday.

The club is more important than one player.

Were the club taking us for a ride when they didn't sell Berge and Ndiaye in January ?
EVEN WHEN WE ARE SELLING A 35 TO FORTY MILL POUND PLAYER FOR 13 MILLION ? A player who is under contract to us for another year and could well be the difference between 1 year in the prem or 2 years in the prem . Another year in the prem that makes 13 mill look like small change and well worth letting him go nowt next year .

Why are we so shit at doing business? It’s not just the current regime either, all my adult life we always seem to make the wrong decisions at boardroom level. Yes we’ve had little periods of success, but that has come in spite of our hierarchy…not because of them.

United won’t say what the figure is…because they know we as fans will be angry and they will kop some grief.
£13m was quoted….someone said it was more…another quote from the marseille camp stated £14.6.
I think it’s very unlikely those numbers will be £10m away from the actual fee and definitely closer to those.

Petains mob?? You mean frenchmen and women? You do know about the Vichy Government don't you?

I hate the fact I have to respect his decision to go to Marseille and not just chased the big bucks elsewhere. Marseille are a slightly above average team in a poor league, and they clearly don't have loads of cash to chuck about. They will never do anything interesting and I doubt we'll hear anything of Iliman again.

He could probably have ended up going to someone like Newcastle, Arsenal etc earnt £150k a week and become a millionaire overnight but he clearly loves football and Marseille more than that. He and his family will be set for life after this deal but he could have had SO much more but turned it down. You don't see this often, if ever, nowadays. It also makes it a bigger shame as he's obviously a lot more grounded and a much better person than 99% of footballers and therefore the exact type of player I want playing for us.

Don't think we can blame the club if Iliman wanted to move to his boyhood club. We can blame the club if they don't support Hecky et al with significant investment in strengthening the team.

We could invest twice the amount that we would get for Ndiaye and the team would still be weaker

I think I’ll join the Frank the tank anti-fanny club. The absolute state of some of the flouncing is breathtaking. I for one will absolutely not be surrendering anything this season, neither will any of the playing staff. You’re allowed to be disappointed and upset without having a tantrum that would embarrass a 5 year old.

He was a supreme talent and it will be a real shame that we won’t see him play for us in the Premier League. However, we’ve already had a player that didn’t want to be here down tools, so if he wants out, there’s the door. I only hope we held out for the right price. For Christ sake though, can we wait and see what the squad looks like before we wave the white flag?
Nobody is acting like a 5 Yr old, fact is we are no stronger as a squad than when we were promoted, in fact massively weaker.

Same keeper, Wes isn't good enough, same back line, JLT and Lowe aren't good enough, woefully short in midfield, (no Doyle or McAtee) and now our only threat up front looks like he is off as well.

The three signings are a gamble at best, Slimane looks OK, Lowe starting over Larouci yesterday sounds alarm bells and th other one hasn't even got a work permit.

Flouncing.....yeah maybe, worried that we are fucked, absolutely.

We 👏 don’t 👏 know 👏 the 👏 fee

I think we should judge by the insanely low bar for a promoted club of if come the first game of the season we are weaker then we were when we went up. That seems the bare minimum and fans should be allowed to moan if we can't clear that very lowest of bars

Well said mate could not have put it better .100% correct . Only trouble is all those who want to buy us all look bent but i suppose birds of a feather all flock together .

He’s not a £35m pound player because no-one would have offered anything like that amount.

I dunno, seeing some say things like put an R next to us, cancel the season and referencing Derby’s squad being relieved seems a bit childish to me.
