It’s just Maths at this stage?

Goes now is seemingly +£17m
Goes on a free it’s £0
Signs a deal it’s likely somewhere in the middle. We outlay £3m in wages? £13m release if relegated gives us £10m. Maybe £20m if we stay up gives us £17m

Surely a pragmatic win-win

I see why the board are being careful on this one. Let’s just say illy wants to stay, young family, friends, chance to play in the Premier League (worlds greatest), respect for the club and very healthy relationship with the manger who gave him the faith and the opportunity. That’s all good and in our favour.

The agent and club on the other hand are trying to look after business.

From the board’s perspective - IF illy has a very good season and we stay in the premier league and we set a low release clause you’ll have all the sharks biting and after one season he’ll not have to honour the x amount of years deal leaving for poor price (let’s say £20m), comparatively look at MGW £40m.

From the agent’s perspective - He’s seen the Berge situation, which has priced out many clubs, leaving him trapped (despite performances being sub par at times) and may be worried that the same could happen with his player.

What you have is a club that probably has some sort of hope we stay up, and don’t want to lose a player who would be worth a substantial amount of money on the cheap and an agent that probably has little faith and doesn’t want a relegation release clause that’s too high. My question to the agent would be, if a club was willing to offer £20m + when he was championship player how would his valuation decrease a year on after playing premier league football? Unless of course the agent isn’t convinced that the club or the player will do well, rather negative.

£25m in the Championship.
£35m in the Premier League.

It’s fair, I mean Southampton are turning down £40m pound offers for a lad who’s played 29 games.

More in a transfer than a new contract for an agent.

Time to end this saga. If the reports are true, he will not sign a contract, and is prepared to walk away at the end of the season, for nothing, and even sign a pre contract in January, regretfully he needs to go now. There is no guarantee we will stay up with or without him . Give Hecky time to invest some of what we get, and insert a good sell on clause. The viability of the club is foremost, the longer this continues, the more dangerous it becomes. My main concern, is that it does not jeopardise any proposed sale of the club.

I mean you can cherrypick reports that say he’s definitely leaving, definitely signing a new deal or definitely staying and running down his contract.

Other than trusting “ITK” accounts which often get shit wrong (either deviously or completely honestly but they aren’t fully informed) we don’t have a clue what’s happening. We’ll just have to be patient - I’m willing to wait if there’s a chance of him signing a longer deal and I’m also willing to trust that we have contingencies in place if we end up having to sell.

How would it jeopardise a sale of the club?

Ndiaye is actually the person buying the club?!

We literally have 4 different outcomes provided by 4 different 'ITK'ers'...

Nixon: Ndiaye won't sign a contract due to minimum release

El accounto: Ndiaye won't sign a contract regardless even if the minimum release clause was as low as 5 mil.

Rocket Man : Ndiaye still happy to sign a contract nothing's changed.

T-Blade : Not looking good, no real reason given

I like this one from El Accounto personally. We are at the stage where Illy may sign or may not and also may go to OM or may see out his contract. A cynic might say he's basically just listed all the main outcomes and stated the obvious but he has at least ruled out Illy packing it all in and opening a grocers or transforming himself into a duck.

Could combine the spinning index finger celebration with putting 3 oranges into a paper bag and wrapping it up.

“you take care now love, yeah”

Problem here is you jumped in too quickly, identifying as a duck was going to be Friday take

But I think you would agree we are more likely to stay up with him - how much do our chances of staying up fall without him, and what amount would you accept from OM or whoever?

Think the club need to set a deadline here....the will he/won't he situation is affecting recruitment and hampering Heckys pre season plans....let's bring things to a head.

Darren Smith either seems to be softening us up for a sale or lowering expectations so when he does stay it looks like the Prince has pulled the proverbial rabbit out of the hat.

I suppose he’s got to get a few wrong sometimes so he can deny being the Prince’s mouthpiece.

I find it hard to believe that a release fee is the stumbling block once everything else has been agreed, especially if it’s virtually fuck all on relegation.

I don't know if Darren's still connected or not but for me, I'm not going to read too much into what he's saying. Would have thought that from a negotiating perspective, for either side, his twitter poll last night was about as helpful as a turd in a workboot so I can't quite see it having been sanctioned from on high. Add in his itk insight amounting to "he may sign, not sign, leave or stay", at this point you'd be as well consulting tea leaves.

To be fair to him, I think he may have some insight into the clubs position, but unlikely to know anything about what Ndiaye and his agent are thinking.

Click bait at it's finest. FYI the agreement Chelsea have reached apparently, is with Olise

No, not THE Al hilal

He also can’t physically force him to move to Saudi. That’s not for everyone.

Seem to remember Jim Phipps running a twitter poll shortly before the Prince took his iPhone off him.

Your last comment is just quackers !
OK it’s as sensible as most comments on this thread.
