We all need to keep calm, it’s like a wheel the way this keeps going around thanks to the bloody journalists! Negotiations take time, especially when we’re involved!! So let’s wait for something concrete to materialise

last year of contract or not it would be criminal to lose him for £15m, especially in a market where Cov got £20m for Gyokeres who was in a similar situation.

Let's not dismiss the Agent being a prick here either.

Something like:

Relegation he goes for 15m

Stay up then release clause 35m

That's something that id be hoping for or better.

They'll probably be saying at the moment nobody does anything you get nothing in 12 months so make the release fee less prohibitive if you stay up and maybe shave off 5m if you go down too.

United should be pushing the fact that he'll be getting a huge amount more in wages and be getting exposure that would open up potential opportunities elsewhere plus of course why would we pay him many times more for a really poor release clause? You'd like to think all parties could avoid this being a Showstopper.

He seems to not want to uproot his young family which is a plus. No matter what he'll end up on far vetter money in the next 12 months.

Difference will probably be in 12 months. They greedy agent probably would like him to move regardless as he gets a better cut. For us, we are probably thinking that if we have a good season we'd like the chance to keep him and even renegotiate the clause upwards (or remove it) before anyone else gets a chance to trigger it.

Maybe we can be cute. If it is Marseilles then it's 30m but anyone in UK it's 40m. I don't know how bespoke these things get.

There was more than 1 team in for Gyokeres and cov could sell to the highest bidder, we can’t

I don't think this is a good time to be pushing faces

At that price though there ought to be dozens of takers. Suppose the only problem is if he’s made clear he would only leave for OM

Irrespective of anything else, £15m is an absolute disgrace and if we sold the best player we've had for generations for that price whoever negotiated it wants shooting. Better to lose him for nothing next summer
The problem is we have come to a point where in 12 months we'll have a squad of about 10 players and all our star men barring the new signings having gone as things stand because of the shocking level of planning allowing so many first teamers get to the last 12 months of their deals all whilst teetering on the edge of administration.

Whilst we think £15m is a fucking joke, the club might accept that just in order to build a squad.

If Marseille are really serious now, i say fuck them and let's start a bidding war, notify all realistic PL clubs (WHU/Forest/Brentford/Everton etc) that he's available starting bid at 20m, if Marseille really want him they'll join in

Right, but it would also cast iron guarantee our relegation. So rebuild the squad with £15m as opposed to PL cash

I totally agree. It's a complete joke. I'd rather just keep him and let him go for free but I'm just saying the club will probably disagree all because of the shocking planning that's allowed it to get to this stage.

15m but with a clause:

The President of Marseilles has to fly to England once a week for a whole year and Hecky gets to kick him in the bollocks each time.

I mean, do they want him or not?

We will have a very poor midfield if Illiman and Berge leave ...................never mind we can muddle thru.

Four top players lost in months McAtee Doyle Berge Illiman...........thats a big hole of QUALITY to fill.
