It was always Aubameyang + Ndiaye.. not one or the other.

Not sure why but my guts telling me we've finally lost the battle to keep him.

Hopefully if he does go it includes some decent clauses including sell on and milestone incentives + Isaak Toure coming the other way would be a bonus to sort out our LCB issue.

Yeah if true we should definitely be looking at reporting them to FIFA at the minimum. They've just escaped a transfer ban (on appeal) for a very dodgy signing, stolen from Watford a couple of years ago AFTER the guy signed a contract with Watford.

Wtf?

Sitting down with reps of the Blades?

Chatting up Ndiayes family to convince them to change their mind?

Fk off

Faro they say its bleedin miles away from Lisbon.

Do Marseille have any players that we might want and who we can start talking too via their agents?

There are a few gambles with life and some pay off.

1) Keeping him without him signing a new deal, I don't see as a gamble too much as it gives us a chance that we stay up which probably brings in another £40 million which should see us be able to look at the overseas market if he was to leave on a free.
Con with that is no sell on clause if he does go onto be a massive hit

2) Selling him now - price has to be right, if Alex Scott price for Bristol City is right (already turned down rumoured bids of £20million) and now rumoured they want £25million I think we should be looking at £30million +

Pros to the above: £30million in the bank

An Absolute must - any contract deal must come with a decent sell on clause, if he signs say for 4/5 years at Marseille (not in the know) he would be reaching a peak in his career, if he reaches full potential at a champions league club. A Saudi club or a European giant will be looking at least 3 x the current value.

Cons Apart from Ndiaye going he is on by all accounts a small wage budget offering excellent return for money. Bringing in a player for £25-30million hasn't been one of our strongest points in the past and is also a gamble so it could be the case we are looking at 2 players however that then brings a point of integration to the squad, the team already has a new ID from that of a few weeks ago with 3 new additions, could adding another 2 upset the dressing room or is that a chance we might have to take.
Alex Scott has 2 years left on his contract, Illy has 1.
That's the reason for the different valuations

This might work in our favour, if it was me and they kept hassling not only me but my family I'd tell em to fuck right off, especially as it's his wife who's settled with a young family

If the boot was on the other foot, it's us pushing this player we'd be saying go on blades go for it, why get so upset about something we have no control over
If it was us the FA, UEFA, NATO, and the RSPB would issue us with a billion pound fine and a 50 point deduction

I don't think anyone knows where this will end. If Ndiaye had really wanted to sign a new contract I don't think finding a pen would have taken the best part of a week.

My concern is how disrupting this is to the squad. I am hoping the club has done all it can to iron out any issues with the contract and put Marseilles on notice that they need to meet the valuation before they can contact the player again.

jono12000
fact and 100% true Aubameyang has signed for Marseille.
How do you know Ndiaye is going to Marseille give me the facts, another fact is Ndiaye's wife has given birth. so would you go through the hassle of having to go through a transfer at this time?.

I'm all for a club expressing an interest being able to ensure a player is open to a move before finalising a deal between clubs. That saves everyone some time. It looked like this was where things were going until Marseilles failed to meet our valuation and Ili was reported to have a change of heart. I'm OK with Marseilles clarifying the situation with the club, but If they don't intend to meet our valuation it should be a waste of time them continuing to talk to Ili. If they are pursuing this through pressuring family as is being reported that crosses a line I hope we'd never even approach as a club.

Ili is doing the right thing. Options open, and wait to see what offers arise.

It’s the privilege of being bloody good, sadly.

The delay is frustrating, but would it be normal for contracts to be signed out in Portugal? Larouci did his in Sheffield before joining the group and it looks like officials from the club went out to Traore to sort the paperwork, before he hopped on a plane to the training camp.

Maybe I am clutching at straws, but I would have thought Bettis would be around when the thing is actually signed.

Either way, I wish this would get sorted one way or the other.

It was one of the very few things that used to piss me off about Wilder. He regularly said things that suggested we had no right to be in the PL

Should he have said, "we belong here" .

Then the players could have rested on their laurels.

Have you heard of the parable of David and Goliath ?

How do you think Wilder got us to the position we occupied in his first PL season ?

Motivational managers V supporters.

The impression I get is that the club are offering better wages this season rather than high transfer fees.

The best 'transfer' we could achieve this season is to keep Illi by offering him a much better wage deal.
Though many supporters seem to to think that only big transfer deals show ambition.

BIG numbers.

And that wages, £ 2/3 million per year 3/4 years don't exist after the transfer fee.

2million per year on a 3 year deal = £ 38 000 per week.

Or £ 6 million on top of the transfer fee.
