Makes sense we'd be in the same conversation. Unless we're pinning hopes on Doyle/McAtee.Apparently Leicester and Burnley fighting to sign him on loan - I reckon we use our links with Pep and maybe try and get him?
They've apparently turned down £30mil offers for Macatee so can't see him being available - would be interested to see how much Doyle would cost thoughMakes sense we'd be in the same conversation. Unless we're pinning hopes on Doyle/McAtee.
You just never know though. Apparently Mahrez is going to Saudi. But given that Foden isn't guaranteed a place in their team, it's really hard to imagine McAtee getting more than a few cup outings. They've apparently turned down £30mil offers for Macatee so can't see him being available - would be interested to see how much Doyle would cost though
My thinking is, say the £20mil budget is accurate - we've spent £6 mil-ish on Slimane and (hopefully) Traore - throw a bit of cash at Doyle? See if there's a compromise in thereYou just never know though. Apparently Mahrez is going to Saudi. More realistic we loan Doyle, admittedly.
Left footed attacking midfielder you say
Tbh, given that he has been in and around the first team for the last year or so. I can imagine that Pep wants him to get a loan in either the prem or another top European league to really test how good he is. Maybe us getting him on loan might be more likely than we think.I'd be utterly gobsmackingly speechless if we got Palmer.
You'd have thought Man City would be happy to do us a favour after assisting in the development of McAtee and DoyleTbh, given that he has been in and around the first team for the last year or so. There seems to be a number of midfield moves in Liverpool possibly in the offing so you would imagine Elliot won’t be going anywhere at least until January perhaps5 most likely players. Lewis O'Brien - More used to playing as a natural 8 but can play as a 10 which is preferable for United as he can cover more areas, even as a defensive midfielder if required. He rates high in progressive carries and successful take ons as well as being very capable off the ball looking at his fbref numbers. Wages are £10k per week as per capology and wouldn't expect a huge loan fee. Our interest has been known for a while which might help us should we make an offer for O'Brien. Only problem which again has been noted is Forest's reluctance to loan to a potential lower table rival. At 24, a good age to stay with us for the future, could maybe be tempted with a loan with obligation to buy if we stay up?
Cole Palmer - Played 41 times either as an attacking or central midfield for City and their u21 sides so again offers versatility. Looking at his statistics, he's very accomplished in possession, high numbers in ball carrying, successful take ons and receiving passes between the lines which lead to a high number of shot creating actions. On a reported £20k a week at City with the City Group seemingly trusting us with their talent with Doyle, McAtee & now Lamouci. Was involved in the U21 Euros with England and got a fair few minutes under Pep Guardiola for City last season so is trusted by him. Burnley & Leicester reportedly interested, would like to see us in the mix but maybe with us expected to be nearer the bottom of the table might a loan to a side more ball dominant be more likely?
Amad Diallo - Played 18 times as either an attacking midfielder or centre forward on loan at Sunderland last season scoring 13 times and assisting 3. His numbers in terms of take ons and ball carrying are weaker than McAtee but still strong for his position and he certainly has an eye for a pass. His out of possession numbers are decent which would only being improved playing for United you would expect. Capology has his wage at around £30k a week, however, MUFC subsidised Dean Henderson's wages when he was on loan with us a few years ago so may do the same should the Blades register an interest. Could certainly see him striking up a relationship with Ndiaye. Ten Haag has been reported to be a fan of Diallo but rumours are they want him to get more minutes on loan this season, Bramall Lane could certainly be a place for that.
James McAtee - Obviously we all know a lot about McAtee, played as an attacking midfielder or even on the left of a three for the Blades last season. Statistically very similar to Palmer in possession but better defensively, but not massively in all fairness. On £10k a week at City and again trusted by City Group on dealing with their players. City travel to Japan & South Korea on their pre season tour where he will get the chance to showcase his talent to Guardiola. Having turned down £30m offers for him, City clearly rate him highly so will be interesting to see if they keep him this season to have in and around the first team. Might be a case of role reversal with Cole Palmer this season with him going out on loan and McAtee staying. But, if they do make him available on loan, with him knowing the squad and tactics already would certainly be considered by the Blades I'm sure.
Harvey Elliot - Probably the most unlikely on the list but not totally impossible. He only started one of Liverpool's last eleven games, only being involved in five of them in total. He's a really capable young footballer and statistically his numbers show that, he's improved year on year under Jurgen Klopp. Supposedly on £40k a week and we have had dealings with Liverpool in the past, whether those dealings were a positive or not I'm not sure but I would expect Elliot would command a large loan fee should he be made available for loan. He can play as an attacking midfielder or more recently has played in central midfield under Klopp. With Liverpool rebuilding their midfield, there may be fewer opportunities for him to get minutes at Anfield next season, another season of consistent minutes after a worrying ankle dislocation can only be a positive, could certainly do worse than him.

Think with them being back in Europe he would stay as cover without the midfield transformation, but just more a hopeful shout rather than likely. Never know he might really want to push for more minutes/starts which Klopp can't guarantee, however, even if he did there would probably be clubs higher on the list he could go too. There seems to be a number of midfield moves in Liverpool possibly in the offing so you would imagine Elliot won’t be going anywhere at least until January perhaps
Really like Elliot and he appears to have recovered well from that horrendous injury he got. Liverpool fans who I know are slightly divided on him, not about him being a good player which they all think he is just whether he’s likely to develop into a first team player for them. Long term he may well move on but for all the reasons above I can’t see it in the short term.Think with them being back in Europe he would stay as cover without the midfield transformation, but just more a hopeful shout rather than likely. Left footed attacking midfielder you say
He doesn’t say we’d only sign an attacking midfield and a LCB though do he?If all we do is sign an attacking midfielder and a LCB, we'll be in trouble next season.
The midfield needs an overhaul.
If Norwood starts most weeks, we'll lose most weeks.
would agree still think hecky would like doyle and obrien to come in but diallo and elliott are 2 other interesting possibilities2 midfielders and a LCB to go is my reading of that. All assuming Traore signs as well.
He hasn't moved after all, according to big local media.Diallo and Doyle are top of our domestic loan list (of a few names). LO'B (buy) would only come into it if Forest put a yellow sticker on him with a couple of days of the window left. If we have to use a domestic loan on a LCB then we might have to consider it to be an established right footer. Tom Davies name is quite high on our list at the moment and we will press the button if Doyle doesnt materialise (Wolves and Leeds). Nailing down the LCB and where he is coming from will decide our strategy with the rest. Our strategy this year is quite different to the previous years however none of our targets towards the end of the strategy have moved yet apart from the Hungarian LCB..!

You can't do this to me because I'll imagine it and then be disappointed when it doesn't happenGuessing this is Attila Szalai then?
LCB at Fenerbache. Linked with Everton and Union Berlin
Imagine him and Anel either side of Egan![]()
