It was journalists abroad doing it last time round with Berge. Making out Club Brugge or whoever had agreed a deal with him.
To be fair we must’ve at least thought Berge leaving was a possibility because we did seem to have lined up Kone and when asked afterwards if he’d someone we’d revisit in January Hecky didn’t deny it.

We would be foolish to say " yeah we have a price for him and a plan for afterwards" We all know Hecky plays the game with the media. Unfortunately that means we also get played.
If you think WE'RE being played, why was he allowed to play in a meaningless friendly, even though Hecky had previously been told to withdraw Berge from the squad to play Wrexham because we were hoping to sell him?

Here's my hottest of takes, iliman is such a pro, that speculation or not, pulling him from the team would unsettle him more than anything else. Ballers wanna ball.

I don't think he'd have any say in the matter.

Not necessarily in this case but in general. We put out misdirection saying a player is fit when they have no chance etc.

Hecky has mastered the art of saying "fuck off and mind your own bidniss" without using any of those words in that order.
I’d like him even more if he actually said that.
I hope he continues to personally develop, learn from his mistakes and is here for a long time.
Players seem to have a genuine affinity and affection for him, which is a great trait for any leader particularly when it’s a role where he can’t duck the tough calls.

Did anyone on here say that a new contract is the most likely outcome? I know we’ve offered one and that’s been talked about at length here.
Most sensible solution. He's said "likely solution". It's been suggested by half of us that he get paid well for this season with us and a fair release clause inserted.

Further talks held with Illy’s representatives last night really big push by club to get this sorted and we’ve also had encouragement. For probably the first time we are optimistic. Say what you want about the Prince and the club but we are making a real effort here so much so I think as it stands he’s more likely to sign the new contract. Saying that still no official but from Marseille massive few days ahead.

A Swedish international with 14 caps who scored more and created more than Ndiaye? Yes.
Transfermarkt disagree with you

Logic dictates that you wouldn't risk a 20,000,000 asset against a team from the National League if you were about to sell him.
If he turns out on Wednesday evening in Estoril I think that's it done and dusted.
I for one certainly hope he does ,and I'll be there to cheer him and the rest of the lads on.

I'd love to see him stay just to piss off all the nobhead Marseille fans on twitter 😄

They have been surprisingly twattish about the whole thing.

They’ve got a Champions League win in the bank and a 67000 seater stadium, you think that would give them a bedrock of confidence…

But its like if we were trying to buy a promising Blades fan from Kettering Town and giving their fans constant shit about it.

Well they are French

The only thing I would say, is as much as the talk of agreeing terms on a deal could've been unfounded speculation one way, that felt like it was swinging OM's way, these latest posts, feeling as though they are swinging the speculation back in the favour of United are equally just as baseless until we know for certain. Just trying to not get ahead of myself. Love the lad tho. I'd buy all his IKEA furniture for twice the asking price, if he agreed to stay.
