It's a great deal but let's turn it around. Marseille can spend £10m now to not have Ndiaye until next summer or they can wait until next summer, give Ndiaye £5m and sign him then. Why exactly would any team sign a player in the last year of his contract and send him back on loan to the club he's just left?

They wouldn't. I wasn't the person who suggested this in the first place I'm literally just responding to people who think it would be a bad deal!

Why would it stop him getting a move? He gets to play in a team that wins most weeks and attacks, and he gets to play in the Champions League. He gets to have a decent go at winning something and gets to move to a club he's always wanted to play for.

All those things are better than playing for a PL team that's not going to be able to attack very much and will struggle to score 30 goals (at best)
 
OM are wanting him on loan which is a non starter they want to just pay q orc2m euros with the option to buy which considering he could be a free agents next may means they are hoping to flannel their way into getting him even cheaper ... but we aren't that daft

I put it all last night when I was debating with robbiez666 but you’ll see from my replies I understand the other side too.

I don’t think it’s realistic that if we keep Illiman, he’ll go on strike. I also don’t think he’s that type of character. It’s his first season in the PL, he’ll be determined to make his mark on the biggest stage in the world I imagine.

Because If he carries his form into the prem every team in Europe will want him on a free

I know the going rate was 28m, but he supported us because of his Uncle. Surely than overrides everything?

Finished 3rd best team in France. That’s like being 3rd strongest person in your house. Behind your wife and daughter.

Re Champions league - assuming he starts, then 6 “proper” games max next season….assuming they make it to the group phase as they have to play qualifiers first.

Then what? 2 games against PSG then 36 games against dog shit teams trying to finish in the top 3. It’s like dropping down in to the championship just to play in a top 2 side that scores more.

Really odd stage of his career to step down in to the French league, especially given he has stated on record he wants to win the Ballon d’Or. You don’t do that playing for Marseille at 23. Or United for that matter….but a decent season in the Prem sees him move to a top top team next year as it’s a much bigger shopping window.

Unless he only intends to stop 1 season with them. But still seems odd to do it at this stage of his career.

How is it odd? He gets to show what he can do in a team that will dominate a lot of their games. That's going to be a lot more relevant to a big club that running around trying desperately to win the ball back so he can have a touch for United. Bigger salary, bigger stage, gets to play Champions League, the club he supports.

It's absolutely nothing like dropping to the Championship. This current United team isn't better than the worst teams in Ligue Un

I really don't understand this, what's the difference between playing the likes of Bournemouth, Luton, Burnley, Brighton, Palace, Wolves etc. To playing against, Lens, Reims, nice etc. Yes the quality of player is better in the premier League because of the money available, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking that the premier League has got 20 teams who players say that they would love to play against compared to other leagues. Realistically there's the top 8, (villa and Newcastle included) the rest are just run of the mill teams that every league has.

Like you say, he gets to play champions league, play against, Lyon, Monaco, PSG etc and it's his boyhood team.
 
Almost to a man we've accepted that Ndiaye is running down his contract so he gets to go where he wants next season.
Where he wants will certainly be who pays him the most money and this will be heavily influenced by his agent, so why would he suddenly decide he wants to go to OM who I seriously doubt would be able to compete against even a mid table EPL side (£80m wage bill roughly equates to an average £80k/ week wage).
My money's still on him leaving to the best offer at the end of the season.

Have a look how many French teams have reached the Champions League Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Finals in the last 20 years

Last 20 finals have had PSG (once - 2020) and Monaco (once - 2004)

In that time, the final has been contested by:
England (15 times)
Spain (11 times)
Italy (6 times)
Germany (5 times)

Since the European Cup began, France has won it once - Marseille in 1993.

The French league is dogga.
Be better without PSG in it

What do you expect them to do? Confiscate his passport? Every player will have a value, if it's met, he will go. The value will be higher than we would have got under McCabe and we won't be held to ransom. Pretty sure that's how we'll play it, some people will be pissed off if he goes, if he stays everyone will be delighted.
