James McAtee

Its McAtee who we would prefer out off the 2 and it’s him we are holding one off our premier league loans for hoping city will come round to the idea. It might change and we might go in for Doyle late in the window if we get a definite no on McAtee or maybe even try permanetly if berge goes but if I had to put money on it I don’t think we will see Doyle in a blades shirt next season which is disappointing.

Given we're seemingly completely skint, I get it.

We can't afford the X-Factor of someone like McAtee on a permanent and will need some of what he brings to carry a threat at the top of the pitch.

Doyle's qualities are more easily covered at a lower cost.

Be interesting to see what happens to Doyle. Maybe Burnley or a low level premier league team sign him. If not his career could come to a halt. He's no chance of a game at City so it would have to be another championship loan as I don't see any PL team 'wasting' a loan on him

Be disappointing if we can't get Doyle back as whilst I can see what a good player McAtee is and probably has potential in advance to Doyle, I could see Doyle being a SUFC type of player and being around the club for some considerable time as a midfield mainstay. Still hoping we get both back.

We just don't have the money to make Doyle permanent.

Tommy Doyle will come back on loan for the season which for me is a good signing.

Mcatee won’t be coming back, which unlike most I’m honestly not too fussed about. He was overrated.

Good player don’t get me wrong but no where near good enough to deserve the MGW and Ndiaye hype we have had over the last few years.

I agree with what you re saying re priorities just not sure where you have your information from re Doyle coming back ?

Macca started slow but ended incredibly well. His points per minute played was up their with the best.

McAtee finished up on 9 goals and 5 assists and I'm pretty sure nearly all of that was amassed in the second half of the season when he found his feet and got regular game time.

Profile that out over a season and his numbers are amongst the best to have done it in the Championship... and his improvement rate was rapid.

Not a guts and thunder type like MGW or Ndiaye but very capable of being a matchwinner at any level with the quality he had.

I'd go as far as to say, he still has a big shot at making it at City. That's as high as it goes.

I can fully appreciate why they don't see us as the best next step for him.
My personal opinion is that he'd benefit from a season overseas with a Europa level side.

Spot on although he still has so much more to add to his game but the raw talent is there and hes a quick learner
I think he would benefit from another season with a promotion contender or a lower end prem team

If the rumours are true hes going to stay and be a squad player as they cant find a top prem or top club abroad then his development will stall at a key stage and he may never reach his potential

Question: if you're Man City, and you believe in his potential to make it with you, would you loan him to Leicester or Sheff Utd?

Ben Woodburn.

I don't think that answered the question?
Maybe i misunderstood
I said no i wouldnt if i (man city ) believed he would make it with their first team

But remember they have bern trying to fix him up with a top half prem club or a top club abroad
I still think hes a bit green for that level and certainly with them (citeh) and if they decide to keep him there it will stall his development

I don't think City will believe he's ready to make a major impact next season, they'll want to loan him out again.

But if his only options were us or Leicester, where would you send him if you were them?

Remembering back to our last stint in the PL, I think he'd really struggle with us, whereas he'd thrive with Leicester, seeing far more of the ball and able to impact games.

Thats a good question
Leicester will have more of the ball than us so that would develop his awareness of that aspect of his game but city probably think hes completed the championship and want to see him at the top level
Youd think with us he would see less of the ball but his strengths seem to be in creating transitions and turning defence into attack so the defensive side of his game which he needs improving the most would improve youd think

So its 6 of one half a dozen of the other
Id be surprised if his advisors would allow another season in the championship unless no better offers were in

Agree with this.

He was good, no doubt about that but he’s far from irreplaceable. I would say he will end up in the prem but definately not the next Phil Foden, or at Man city,or even a big 6 club. Perhaps more David Brooks level (who was better IMO pre-illness).

I’m not sure he’s quite ready for the prem yet but i wouldn’t be against us signing him. I would prefer doyle out of the 2 if I could pick.

It would be a detriment to Mcatee if he was sent to us next season in my opinion. He’s no where near ready to play week in week out in the premier league.

City have youngsters way ahead of him hence why he was loaned.

We’re gonna spend games next season with 35% possession and some weeks he wasn’t productive with 65% possession in the championship.

I think that he would be well suited in Spain - which is why Pep Guardiola wants to send him there for a season.

Totally agree

Surely you would want him to get PL experience and something tells me that LCFC cannot offer that next season

Disagree

Mcatee Can transform defence into attack, produce a bit of magic out of nothing. Turn a draw into a win.

Exactly the sort of thing you need in a scrap.
I just think we need physically better athletes ( basically stronger) Mcatee would at best be a impact sub and therefore either using one of our loans or a big fee doesn't seem wise. Doyle might start but maybe a less high profile it experienced head would be better

Berkshire r u saying McAtee wouldn't be a first 11 player for us and only an impact sub ? If so I think u r way off the mark, who is keeping him out of the team on the left side Osbourn?

Squad as is now he probably would start. I don't think he's right for us in the premier league though. I'd have him as ndayie back up but financially doubt that will or should happen
