Saying we keep the players we have plus a couple of additions, are we stronger or weaker than when we last went up?
I myself don't see a lot of difference except maybe we were a bit tougher in the midfield. Jack O'Connell was immense on the left of our back 3 , although Robinson could maybe have the same impact should he carry on from last seasons form.
What's your views on our strengths or weakness between the team of 2019/20 and this years squad.
A lot are expecting us to come back down but i'm not so sure. The same things were being said last time but we proved them all wrong.

This is a game I can get on board with (just for fun)

Henderson 8 - 6 Foderingham
Baldock 8 - 8 Baldock
Basham 7 - 6 Ahmedhodzic
Egan 7 - 7 Egan
O'Connell 8 - 6 Robinson
Stevens 8 - 5 Lowe
Norwood 6 - 5 Norwood
Lundstram 6 - 7 Berge
Fleck 7 - 5 Fleck
McBurnie 6 - 6 McBurnie
McGoldrick 7 - 9 Ndiaye
Sub: Berge 6 - 5 Osborn

84 - 75
Ok it's easier to rate those on the left as we know how well they performed and came 9th.
We haven't signed anybody yet for this season.
If you don't like my numbers do your own.

I'd say stronger now but the momentum we went in with you can't really buy, that unique system was still new to the top levels and the feeling of playing in the Premier league since 2006 was just all new and exciting.

Just like your first shitbanger of a car. Back then it was fantastic but wouldn't be the same if you did it again.

Ok… to suggest bash was either better or on par with Anel is ludicrous. He was amazing but even at his best he’s not as good as Anel.

You're right in saying Norwood and Fleck have declined, but I also think Baldock has improved, maybe because of his international games.
Bash over Anel? Huge Bash fan myself, but that's crazy talk.

It was ment to be the team as it was when promoted, not now?
Also I scored 7-7

Better players, less effective team. We had the element of surprise with the Wilderball and also all the momentum. We were also fearless. We were also very lucky with fitness.
Said this the other day to someone, when we went up last time we were actually playing well and like you say nobody was expecting the overlapping centre backs.
This time I don’t think we’ve been playing that well more like grinding results out.

I knew that would stir it up and maybe I should've put this in 'unpopular opinions' but every time somebody got the wrong side of a player and gave away a penalty guess who it seemed to be? Sheff U official haven't done him any favours because their clips which have recently been all over Facebook were embarrassing for him v Wrexham and Norwich. He was sensational in his first handful of games and we know he can be good but we haven't seen him in the Prem yet and we saw Bash do ok.

You're not seriously saying you think McBurnie is a worse player now than when we got him? Off the back of his best season for us?

Comparing like for like now is not the thing to do

When we went up last time, we had pretty much our whole team in place

This time, we need to replace half of them

But for what its worth....

Henderson 9 - 6 Foderingham
Baldock - 8 - 8 Baldock
Basham - 7 - 9 Anel
Egan - 7 - 7 Egan
O'Connell 9 - 6 Robinson
Stevens - 9 - 4 Lowe
Lundstram - 7 - 7 Berge
Norwood - 7 - 7 Norwood
Fleck 9 - 5 Osborn
McGoldrick - 8 - 10 Ndiaye
McBurnie 6 - 7 McBurnie

86 - 76

Not close

But it's not exactly proper to include the likes of Lowe and Osborn in this year's team is it

Currently worse, and it's not even close.

Last time, we had a system, we were incredibly well drilled, everyone swapped positions interchangeably when we attacked, everyone knew where everyone was going to be.

We had a buzz, owing to playing proper football, the Sheff United way.

We now have the same core, and whilst they aren't all guaranteed starters, they're 3 years older and haven't been replaced.

We have very few permanent, influential midfielders, with the potential to grow beyond their current skillset.

Now we have 1-2 star players of a calibre way above last time, but we have very little game plan and hope they will create a moment of magic.

Wilder made an attempt to replace a lot of the first team but they just upped their game and the new players became redundant which is great because most of those didn't cut it!

Thought I’d try with the Prem second season team.

Ramsdale 6.5 - 6 Foderingham
Baldock 8 - 8 Baldock
Basham 6 - 7 Anel
Egan 7 - 7 Egan
Bryan or Ampadu 4 - 6 Robinson
Stevens 4.5 - 4 Lowe
Lundstram 4 - 6 Berge
Norwood 5 - 6 Norwood
Fleck 5 - 3 Fleck
McGoldrick 8 - 8.5 Ndiaye
Burke 3.5 - 5.5 McBurnie

Subs: McB, Sharp, Bogle, Brewster, Berge, Osborn, Jagielka) 5.5 - Osborn, Bogle, RND, Brewster, Jebbo, Bash 4.5

68 vs. 72

With a couple of decent loans or miraculous signings, we will arguably look far better suited than the second season team.

What shouldn’t be overlooked when making the comparison is that , compared to our second season in the PL , we will have a far better and more adaptive management team .

That might sound controversial but it cannot be denied that for all their great achievements prior to that and for whatever reasons , Wilder and Knill appeared to completely lose the plot , abandon all the exciting and creative aspects of our game that had got us to where we were and focus on a style of play and team selection which resulted in some of the most sterile and negative performances I have ever seen from a Blades team .

I am absolutely convinced that this approach will not be repeated by the current regime and that if we do go down , it will not be for the want of giving it a go and that we are only 3 or 4 players short of having a squad capable of getting a result against a good number of teams .

Always the optimist , I have a strong feeling that despite all the difficulties we will recruit such players and greatly look forward to the season ahead .

Hi Stegosaurus

The main difference between Jack O'Connell and Robinson is that Robinson is utter horseshit and a complete liability at the back whereas O'Connell would likely have ended up playing for England one day.

Have you ever been to any of our matches?!

Whilst I agree about the quality of Jack O'Connell that's incredibly harsh on Jack Robinson. It's true he is prone to the odd error (who isn't?) but he is also one of our most improved players. Crunching tackles the bomb of a long throw and the lad has scored some crucial goals for us when he comes forward.

Of course he hasn’t. He’s a Wednesday fan with so little going on in his life that he’s posting on a rival’s forum at 4 on a Sunday morning.

Hi Stegosaurus here

I don't know why people think I'm a Wednesday fan. It seems many here need to take off their tinfoil hats

100% agree, we were playing well going up last time this time we’ve just been grinding results out.
